      Not knowing specific installation procedures needed potentially making it much harder than a standard install, and only able to guess that portion which can drastically change the price, it does seem high. Now, heat pumps are in very short supply right now due to supply chain issues and most people needing one are waiting longer than normal, you may be incurring the extra cost of convenience to have it sooner rather than later.

    I recently had my HVAC company do a service. My Trane SEER unit is 12 years old
    I was told my run capacitor was a little weak and to replace it was $385. It’s crazy to replace a $30 capacitor and 15 mins of work lol.
    Also I asked how long I could expect this unit to last. Was told 12-15 years. So I asked the price of a new Trane unit and was told the 3 ton Trane 20 SEER indoor and outdoor would be around $22k. Wow I’m I the only one thinks these prices are crazy 😂

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363
      @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as the repair, to make things simple, you’re not paying for the capacitor, you’re paying for the training for the guy so he knows it is the capacitor, among 50 other items that have to be considered when pricing every repair. 20 SEER expensive and worth it. You can bring that price down quite a bit for 13 SEER. You want a Cadillac, you have to pay Cadillac prices. You want a Ford, you can pay Ford prices also.

    Thanks for making this video. I'm getting a quote on a heat pump for my home next week and this info will be very helpful. Question for you if you get it in time: Can my AC unit and the new heat pump unit both share the same ducting? I don't want to eliminate my existing AC unit. Mainly getting the heat pump for winter use. Thanks again.

    Need advice,
    I have a common 3 Ton split system gas furnace. My compressor failed after 15 years of service. I recently purchased a new 3.5 Ton heat pump condenser as a replacement. I would like to take advantage of the heat pump technology and use the gas furnace as backup heat. My question revolves around the specifications of the new replacement evaporator coil.
    I noticed that most heat pump condenser units are married to an air handler with electric backup heat, instead of an evaporator coil box on a gas furnace. I understand that gas heat is possible as backup with a heat pump, but I'm confused about what modifications need to be made to the evaporator coil TXV.
    Please advise if there are special TXV for heat pump evaporator coil configuration and if there is something that is needs to be done to the furnace.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363
      @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no modification. The evaporator coil just needs to be rated with the HP. If it’s a 3.5 Ton Hp, I hope you have a 4 ton drive on that blower motor on the furnace instead of the 3 ton you mentioned.

      A 3-1/2 ton HP should do the job; however you should have a heat load calculation done by the dealer as insulation; number of windows, sun shading affects the actual capacity needed or your home!

    Does the cost of the heat pump include installation? What about the air handler? Is that included in the price too? The video really doesn’t explain any of this.

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363

      A heat pump can go with a furnace or an air handler, so the price in video is for the heat pump. It does include installation in the price.

    Good video. Do these ranges include creating ductwork (say if you're building new) or is that a separate process? Because someone simply replacing existing units would pay much less.

      This price includes new transition to existing ductwork. Also included is a Lifetime workmanship guarantee. We spend an extra hour on each job after the installation performing a full commissioning on the equipment to make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Equipment pricing from manufacturers has went up 4 times in the last year due to supply side shortages through the industry. All our technicians get over 200 hours a year in training in the largest HVAC training lab in Central Ohio. We also offer a 100% money back guarantee.

    Is installation of a heat pump that different vs a standard central a/c system? I am planning on getting a high velocity system in my house and I asked the contractor what the cost difference would be if we went with a heat pump vs adding a plain heating element in the air handler. He stated that he wasn’t familiar at all with heat pumps.

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363
      @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The installation is the same as an AC, except outdoor unit will be sitting 8” higher to be out of snow. Electric heat strips are warmer coming out of vents, but much more expensive utilities.

    Your pricing doesn't seem to include the matching replacement air handler, new duct work (other than transition pieces), air flow dampers, electronic air cleaner, thermostat, new copper line set, outdoor disconnect, etc. It would be helpful to have separate estimated "cost adders" for some of these features that will add thousands of dollars to your cost estimates.

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363
      @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A heat pump is also a cooling unit. A properly sized & properly installed heat pump is a very efficient option when it comes to electricity. If you are replacing a current heat pump system, then a new unit will most likely use less utilities depending on the size and efficiency rating of the old and the new.
