Dealers will never tell you their price. $3,000 to $5,000 for a cheap entry level furnace is a F joke.
i never even thought I had to think about that issue. i don't even know what a "draft issue" is. Thanks? I guess?
Good to know
Thanks Billie! Top tier video.
Thaaaaaaaanks....straight to the point.....concise bullets. I discovered the mini split by visiting different countries. Finally, the US is getting onboard.
I had to add the Honeywell t9 thermostat and sensors because of uneven heating and cooling . Work very well
and how much that perticular company going to pad the bill
lol they told me around 11,000 for a 95%
my furnace short cycling ik im going to get ripped offf grrr
Great video. We have a furnace right behind the wall of our den, where we spend most of our time. When it runs, it's as loud as a jet engine. Sound comes through the return vent primarily. Could we move that vent around to another wall that would be quieter, or do we need to pay thousands to move the entire furnace 8 feet away to the garage?
Question. If labor runs between $70 and $100 dollars per hour and it takes between 5 to 8 hours (on average) to install a furnace and a good (new) single stage furnace costs $1000 or less. Why doesn't a new furnace replacement cost just under $2,000 ?
*looks at my in wall 2 coil heater* lol
I havent found an answer to this from the web that makes sense. Why is there a thermostat laying on top of my air handler? (I also see this in many new homes) Its not in a conditioned space so is it reading the difference in temp similar to the AC system in my vehicle (I learned this when replacing a side mirror with a cheaper one and noticed the mirror had the ambient temperature probe and the aftermarket did not, my AC stopped working because of this til I took apart the old mirror and took this sensor from it and connected it in the door now) or is it for ease of troubleshooting?
As a HVAC tech in training this is pretty cool
i live in Northern ireland where humidity level is always 90+% all year . In Summer you sweat like crazy in winter all your walls and windows are wet. Right now outside 92% inside 80%
I live in a 2 story home in Georgia. I don’t use the second floor and have two separate units (one for up and one for downstairs). What should I keep the thermostat at up and down in the winter? I have it programmed cooler at night but it seems to be more expensive doing that?
THANK YOU BROTHER ♥️ YOU'RE TRULY A BLESSING TO THE WORLD💯🙏🏾
🙂
The answer is, it depends. From 27 years of home ownership, and living in climate the can be -40 Celsius in the winter to +40 Celsius in the summer. So many factors to consider, how cold is it outside, sun exposure, how many floors, how many people live in the house, how many showers are had, leaky house, well sealed house, how humid is the air outside, how dry is the air outside. Science says at -40 degrees you house should be 15% humidity? Great, and do we know how uncomfortable that is to humans in the winter. How dry your skin is, the nose bleeds, the dry hacking at night because of no moisture. the static shocks when you touch people, the cracked hardwood floors. The answer is, to find a happy medium and stop hunting for perfection. And so on. Issue with the 50% is the good humidity doesn't work in the extreme cold, that's way to high. That's when you get window fog and icing up, locks freezing and a bunch of issues inside your walls and attic.
Well said

Great detailed informational video. I just wish that you guys were here in Jersey :)
Maybe some day :)
It’s rare to find honest HVAC contractors and technicians. Your business will prosper because of your honesty💯
Thank you very much , these values are shared company wide
Good video but you are in the US... 😞
Yes, maybe one day 🙂
If you were curious, low humidity can dry out the mucous membranes in your nose and throat, which are part of your body's defense against viruses. This can make you more susceptible to infections like the flu. Additionally, flu viruses tend to survive and spread more easily in dry air.
Humidifiers work with dry sinuses, dry skin, woodwork, flooring, eenergy efficiency and so much more. Thanks for your comment 🙂
What about servicing
Any technician can look at your humidifier when they are at your house performing routine maintenance on your furnace
lHi, we own a carrier furnace and it's only been 2 and half years. It stopped generating heat 2 days ago. Its model number is 59sc2d080e171116. The fan keeps running without generating heat, error light blinks four times on furnace. Can you please help? We can't believe is starts to have problems after only 2 years
On the bottom panel, the furnace will tell you what 4 flashes mean. If it’s not been services in 2 years, the flame sensor definitely needs cleaned if nothing else
My home has a gas boiler with forced hot water baseboard. It's a standard ranch with an unfinished attic. A heat pump is only for forced air furnace, right? I don't have any duct work, so it's going to have to be installed in the attic. I got a price for mini-splits, but they told me I'd need at least 3 units. The problem I've faced with window ACs is the cool air doesn't go around corners too well, so I have two rooms that are too hot to use in the summer. I'm not sure what to do, whether I should get central air or not. What do you recommend?
Without seeing your house, I can’t give you a good recommendation. A central heatpump does use forced air. A ductless heatpump does not
The furnace in the home I’m living in is 44 years old and it’s working well still. Last inspection was fall of 2023 and it was all good. We will have another inspection this year potentially.
They don’t make them like they used to. If it’s safe, then you’re good to go. The newer ones definitely can save you on gas 🙂
Ok lol
🙂
I am an actual owner of a TRANE XR unit. When my 25 year old AC unit broke in summer 2018 I decided to replace it with a newer unit. The AC company back then recommended TRANE as it's the best in the industry even though it cost more, additionally I was able to get a 3-year labor warranty on it. So based on that I decided to have them install the TRANE XR. During the 1st 3-years I called the company several times about the AC unit not heating/cooling sufficiently. Whenever they showed up to inspect it, the unit either just happened to work just fine or they would say well this summer/winter was too hot/cold and all units could not keep up. Until finally the compressor failed in January 2024 so I had to replace it. Then again in August 2024 it failed for the second time. Of course every time I had to replace the compressor I had to pay the repair companies thousands of dollars for labor even though the parts/unit is still under warranty. And I am writing this message at 3:00 am in the morning because the compressor is giving that loud noise before failing. So most probably when the technician shows up to inspect why it's not heating, the compressor will have to be replaced for the Third time!! This TRANE XR has been nothing other than a piece of Junk, yet you see all these raving reviews on the internet. The TRANE XR has been nothing but a SCAM in my opinion. I started asking around about it and it seems that I am not the only one who's been having the same experience with the compressor failing way before the 10-year mark. So, I am not sure what Future you are promising with these units!
We are not promising anything. After installing thousands of units for 20 years, this is our honest opinion. How a unit is installed is a big determining factor on how long it will last. It is also a mechanical device, and sometimes mechanical devices don’t turn out as well as the factory would hope. Not knowing anything about your unit, all we can do is hope that your current hvac company does a good job for you and we empathize with your plight
Most contractors greatly oversize AC, which makes them less comfortable and less efficient. When remodeling my 1929 Atlanta 1-story home of 1400 ft2, I had put R30 in the attic and R17 blown-in cellulose in the walls, plus storm windows. Half the roof was shaded by oak trees, and the summer sun didn't touch the walls (fell right at bottom, they knew how to orient houses then). I calculated a 1-ton compressor would suffice, while suppliers said I needed at least 3 tons. Bought a packaged AC-gas outdoor unit (ducts in and out), choosing the 1 ton which had highest efficiency (same coil area in all). More than ample cooling, and fan ran much more of the time, which gives more comfort and better condensate removal, as this video explains.
Sounds like you got yourself all squared away 🙂
Thank you. Good information.
🙂
What about the trane S9X2 two stage gas furnace, would you recommend it for someone that is looking for long term replacement?
The most important thing to consider with any furnace replacement is the installation practices of the installing company. Too many company’s take shortcuts .
does a trane xr heatpump blower have a filter ?
Every indoor unit should have a filter in it or attached outside of it
My dual unit is soooo loud and annoying and had blanket wrapped around compressor. Distressing!
Sorry your unit is so loud😢
I love HVAC...
Me too🤩
Thank you for this video. I have bad anxiety and we have duct cleaning scheduled for next week. My anxiety has been so high because I dont know what to expect. This video helped with that. Although I do still worry that the hose wont be able to reach our duct system.... but I'm sure techs have dealt with worse home layouts than ours and managed just fine. This didnt cure my anxiety, but it did help me learn what to expect. So again, thank you.
Thanks for watching

Very informative. My AC unit sounds like a freight train inside the house because it's mounted against an interior wall. It works well but is so annoying.
Sorry
have a downdraft furnace, can i flip it over and change it to a updraft furnacei
No
Should I clean the ducts in a brand new built house? I am worried about construction materials/debris left in.
We recommend cleaning when you move into a house to help with construction dust and when you move into a used house to help remove the last occupants dust (skin cells), and then every 3-5 years. A truck mounted vacuum system is the only proper way. Indoortemp.com/ductcleaning has a video to show you the proper process
