Having used the 98D extensively now ( O Gauge Railway models ...but getting counselling !!) I`ve found that the 0.5 needle/nozzle is not an all-rounder for me as the nozzle aperture is a smaller diameter than my other 0.5 airbrushes (Creos 266-Badger 105) and will not tolerate VMS thicker varnishes even with thinning....but it is an excellent paint atomizer with everything else..
Yes. On the needle portion you correctly point out about needle taper. Ken at Badger airbrush states: the needle taper determines the quality of atomization of paint, not the size of the needle. Thanks, hope i can afford to buy one, although I would like to try the H&S 2024 Ultra.......
Thanks for the review Gary. Over here in New Zealand in [pre-Covid] times this range of generic airbrushes were available for as low as 8UK...they are a bit more expensive now, but still remain excellent value, some come out with MAC valves at around 20UK, I bought a number of them and they remain good airbrushes for general spraying over the last few years.
Great review Gary. Thorough /and/ completely unbiased as all your reviews are. Great to know I can always watch your reviews knowing even without you saying it that I can trust the content :)
@@garys_stuffhi Gary...as mentioned as a possible future group build n the live stream earlier an Aerobatics team group build is something i would be up for👍👍👍
@garys_stuff Some very useful reviews on several airbrushes in recent weeks. Not expecting a comparison video - you're a busy man but wondered where does the neoeco fit performance wise with the Gaahleri ones you've tried?
The difference between this paint job and the one on the SM.79 are very clear to me. In fact, with this Ace airbrush perhaps you can go back with the base sand color and touch up the splotches on the SM.79
I am very tempted to Jim. I've got a patch scheme on the side of a Bf-109 to do and I'm not concerned, before I'd be wondering how to get it done right...
Great video (from what I've seen (having to leave to go to work so been jumping around a bit). Gary, did you say that they are looking to introduce a 0.2 needle for this brush? That would be great news,
They are planning to introduce a 'Supreme' product late this year or early next that will include a 0.2mm drop-in nozzle/needle, and I suspect it will be compatible with other drop-in brushes such as this.
Great review Gary very in-depth l think l'll try taking the wife round l must say that it looked most impressive 🤔makes you wonder what the supreme one will be like 👍
I'm wondering too Barry! It is getting into seriously premium price levels, but this one certainly cuts it for me. The Luftwaffe camouflage was the winner, so easy to do.
Absolustely right if the next one is another £80-100 you might as well look at a premier airbrush so l just ordered one and then see were l stand in a year time than again l get the feeling this one will do 👍
I finally managed to get the entry level Gaahleri airbrush, via Amazon. I think though Gaahleri should be aware that Amazon UK are shipping them with no extra protective packaging, just what Gaahleri provide, with sticky labels plastered all over it, address label etc. Firstly this destroys the outer slip on cover and offers no extra protection during shipping. Amazon I know want to cut back on the costs involved in shipping products in extra packing, maybe even an environmental reason, motivation but whats the point in destroying items shipped with no protection from the shipping process, and destroying their packaging with labels virtually impossible to remove without doing that. Crazy. I have spoken to Amazon about this before, in reference to shipping model kits like this, destroying the boxes which often form part of the instructions, painting guides, extra info needed to build it. I haven’t tested my brush yet, as I am bit by bit gathering stuff, to be able to airbrush, not got everything yet - I hope mine survived ok. Anyway I think Gaahleri need to know about this shipping their airbrushs without extra protective packaging.
Thanks for pointing that out to me. I know the guys at Gaahleri monitor the comments on these reviews, but I will tell them as well. The way Amazon does this is terrible. The boxes some things come in are for presentation purposes and are not designed to be for shipping - especially model kit boxes. They are designed to be delivered in other boxes or sold from the shelf to the consumer. As you say, it will dramatically deplete the value of a kit either on the second-hand market or as a collectable.
Firstly, thank you for purchasing our product. We greatly appreciate your feedback on this matter. It appears that Amazon's approach of minimizing packaging might be driven by environmental concerns and cost-efficiency in logistics. We understand your concerns regarding the lack of protective packaging during shipping, which could lead to damage. Rest assured, we take your feedback seriously, and we will work to address this issue promptly. We will explore options to provide additional protective packaging for shipments to the UK in the future. Your input is invaluable to us, and we appreciate your attention to this matter. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for your support.
@@garys_stuff Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are well aware of the challenges posed by Amazon's shipping policies, and we are committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure the best possible shopping experience for our supporters. Your feedback is invaluable in this regard.
Jut want to pop in here to say that my GHAC-98D arrived yesterday from Amazon UK (the only item in my order) and it came safely inside an Amazon packaging box, so hopefully this issue has been corrected now. On another note, I appear to have a growing family of Gaahleri airbrushes now, so I now have three hobbies. adding to my modelling stash, making models, and now adding to my airbrush stash. A strange turn of events methinks!
Thank you for your message. We're delighted to share some good news - during the upcoming Amazon Prime Day in the United States, the GHAC-98D will be available at an unprecedented discount of just $75! This is a rare opportunity, so if you're interested in our products, be sure to stay tuned. We believe this price will allow more people to experience Gaahleri's high-quality airbrushes. Once again, thank you for your interest and support!

I'd say the Neoeco was roughly on par with the GHAD-39, kind of entry level but still a very decent airbrush and you do get a lot for your money.
The difference between this paint job and the one on the SM.79 are very clear to me. In fact, with this Ace airbrush perhaps you can go back with the base sand color and touch up the splotches on the SM.79

@@druss680 how's the paint collection coming on - another stash to develop!!!
The trouble with the 98 is at that price, it is competing with H&S and Iwata brushes
Would be interesting to know how they compare - I've not used either of those.
I have 2 Harder & Steenbecks and they are well made and perform well, I have heard the Iwata's are excellent but never used one
