I love house renovation shows and Diresta takes it to the next level. That stone stacking work is so satisfying to see completed! Truly someone that embodies Bruce Lee's quote: “Don't fear the man who knows 1,000 techniques. But fear the man that has practiced one technique 1,000 times.” But in his case I think he's practiced that one technique 10000 times at least!
@@farben_kyber great quote thank you!
One of the reasons I’m enjoying this series so much is because of Ken and his fantastic work on that gorgeous stacked stone foundation. I have never been so interested in a foundation before. Plus he’s a character, one of those guys with skill, personality, and a sense of humor.
You can tell how good of a craftsmen Ken is because of his explanation of all the imperfections due the building and fireplace being off. To work with someone like that is awesome!
That foundation is a work of art! Jimmy, thanks for the video...
Love watching this house come back to life
Thanks for the update…the stone guy is a master. Your vision will be stunning when finished
House is looking great! Fantastic work.
I like the way Jimmy narrates these. There’s a calm honesty to it.
Ken is a treasure. He tosses those big stones around like they weigh nothing! Technique learned from experience really shows.
Mixing it up with a Monday upload. 🤘
Thanks for sharing!
Jimmy! This is your best and most underrated series of all time. We are ALL waiting for more episodes. P.S. I really appreciate the respect you have for craftsmen like Ken. That is the mark of a true maker -- acknowledging the skills of others. Your friends up north in Ottawa.
I once pulled a 3'x8' mirror off of a bathroom wall by using standard framing wedges, like you'd wedge a door with. I just put that sticky carpet masking stuff they use for walkways over the mirror (in case it broke) and then started putting the wedges in all around it. It was attached with Liquid Nails and I was trying to salvage the drywall behind it. Worked like a charm. I saved the drywall and sold the mirror for $250. And it only took around 20 minutes to pull it off.
Amazing progress! Ken is a true artist, so glad you have him working on this place. Congrats on 2 million!
13:02 Measure Once, Cuss Twice!
The stone foundation is awesome!
Man, Jimmy, your videos are so damn good, they are like a good book you never want to end, thank you!
Good friends are very important to have Jimmy. This reno is looking very tight. Good job and great content. Thank you sir!
Couldn’t click on this one fast enough! Love these videos Jimmy!
@@dpmakestuff thank you brother ✊🏼
Man, that is some beautiful stone work around that foundation.
Great to see steady progress on the house and the barn. See you at MakrtCamp!
Quite the project! Great to see how you tackle all the challenges. It is always a little bit at a time. when you’ve fixed one you’ll find another eye sore and just before you’re finished that you’ll find a few more.
Thanks for sharing the challenges of not being a pro! Understanding that even the greats have a bit of anxiety, can have their perfectly measure boards ‘move,’ or appreciate motivation milestones that aren’t necessarily the best step on constructions is encouraging to me. These are the things that aren’t talked about in most DIY construction shows/vids.
Alot of very talented people coming together to bring that house back to life.
When it comes to eating an elephant, one bite at a time is the only way to get it done. I appreciate people like you that take on big projects and chip away at it until you create something worth being proud of. A+ in my book.
Mr. Diresta your works very interesting for me. I have learned a lot from you.
Very good Jimmy. Very interesting vid as always.
Being a Metal Detectorist since 1967 I can't help but dream what history is in the ground around the house.
Cheers from Clint in Virginia.
Thanks for the update on the grave yard house
Wow. So much done in one episode. Love the transformation. I love watching you do things by yourself. I am always working by myself and figuring ways to get things done as a one man crew.
Great update. Thanks Jimmy!
Finally listing my home to buy some land in NEK of VT and turn an 8x28 enclosed trailer into my temporary home on wheels, travel some and simplify life. I'll take plenty of time to plan/ build a home there, which I'll do myself so mostly debt free. You've been a huge inspiration to me after you moved from the city, it's been years for me to finally pull the trigger!! Graveyard place is like your finest big job, i love that you are taking it to the finish line in every aspect, proper!! Ken is a jedi stone master which is the best part about the outside and the most work by far!! So sick!!!
It was nice of Mike to let you feel useful by helping carry those beams. I'm sure he could carry those by hisself.😂
For you Jimmy I'll buy tight bond. Thanks for the video update Jimmy.
Hi Jimmy. Great progress on the graveyard house. The new foundation looks much stronger than the original. Those 8x8 beams are massive! Love the look of the stacked stones.
Waiting for this update!!!!! Thank u Jimmy
Hearing Jimmy giggle while he's getting his balls busted about sharpies warms my heart hahaha top quality banter
It is always a pleasure seeing you do your thing, Jimmy.
I hope I can get to meet you in person some day.
I need a friend like Mike.
Great update and lots of progress. Going to be great when you’re done.
I love these videos. My boss brings me to his upstate house every once in a while to help restore his house in south new Berlin
You are brilliant. I love watching your videos. Thank you for posting!
You're doing an amazing job saving this piece of history!
I never knew I wanted a house with a stacked stone foundation until I began watching this series. Its just plain beautiful.
I liked seeing a update on the house renovation
This really is a fantastic series, and I look forward to each episode.
Thank you
Love this series, Jimmy - Thanks! ❤
Can't stop laughing at Mike with that red tank top and sun glasses. He looks like Duke Nukem doing carpentry!
the foundation does look incredible, as someone else mentioned. Keep at it, you are doing well, it appears. It amazes me you have the time to fit in this house to work on with all the other obligations you seem to have. Seal it up, put tape on the seams of the exterior sheathing, finish taping it after you put in the missing items, don't wait until you have them. Your screwing pattern is a bit off on the sheathing, but I cannot remember what exactly you need, it is either a nail or screw every 4: around the perimeter or 6" and then 6" apart on the studs in the field of the board- that is the reason for the dots on the boards. It is easy to fix that when you are doing the siding, as long as it has been without sheathing, a bit longer won't hurt it.
Pro tip: put ALL of your materials in the sun to warm them up.
Paint, glue, etc.!
So good to see you back at the graveyard house.
Always love a new graveyard house video. It’s inspiring to see how far you’ve come
I was wondering when we'd see your next update on this... nice!
Didn't realize you were in upstate NY. Grew up in Cobleskill and we played Greenville in soccer!
Very cool presentation! Can't wait for the next one.
That is going to be one heck of a rebuilt house when all is said and done!
great job, its looking great!!! Those stone guys are amazing.!!!!
Great seeing the progress and the art of the stone!
Hey Jimmy, that's a massive nice project that you have there.
Hugs from Brazil! 👋🏻👍🏻
Another awesome 🪦🏠 video! Thanks Jimmy!
That house is going to look amazing when its finished keep up the good work
That stacked stone foundation is beautiful
A "sensitive" restoration is a beautiful thing.
That foundation is so cool. You’ve got a great team!
Phenomenal update, thank you!
I can relate to everything your'e doing and I enjoy it. Thank you.
If you raise the cement mixer up with 4 blocks you can dump into a 5gal bucket easier....
G'day Jimmy
The project is coming along really well. I love Kens stone work, he is a real master at his craft.
I noticed you had a couple of southern boys drop in the other day, Keith & Clarke.😊
Regards from down under. 🦘

I really like the series. Looking great Jimmy!
Great to see the progress
I look forward to the Maker Camp footage. 🤗
Great episode, Jimmy! I’m going to be building a house in Greene Cty, so I’m interested to see what you use for flooring
Vapor barrier? Check the building codes. With a gravel layer it may not be needed, having moisture condense on the woos joists and create a potential rot issue may not be worth the risk. Dirt crawl spaces can release two-three gallons of water a day in vapor form. Your area is pretty high in humidity as well. Those wood connecting screws a great, make sure they are rated for use with metal connectors. They will shear in time with the movement between wood and metal if not designed as a metal connector screw. If you bend one and it breaks when you straighten it, a good test, suggest not using them, the inspector will call you on it.
Watching you cut that floor up was rough. lol.. That's such nice wood.. That would have ended up on the chicken pin or something. ;)
I can’t believe how big American houses are, they’re huge
😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love the project
1:31 I’ve used this song in a few edits. So have you before I remember it in a couple vlogs. 11:54 solid brackets you made good idea that will never move. 23:57 I’ve broke glue bonds with wedges. 27:15 I’m not gonna be able to make it this year I was really good at spending money this year. I’ll be there next year for sure or maybe another event. Great video Jimmy nice edit volume was good with the music and the talking.
@@Shawnbbeckner thank you shawn ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Hey sawman your good but let's see how good you cut with the other arm. 😁
I don't know why construction crews don't mention this but for future reference, you can insure studs are 16" on center by subtracting the true width of a single stud from 16". In this case
16" - 1.5" = 14.5"
Nothin to it but to do it.
It's so interesting!
For every joist you cut short to put in that hatch you should have added another joist to the side of the hatch. At bare minimum the joists on the side of the hatch should be doubled up.
Good job 👍🏻 👍🏻
Great video
Been waiting!
I'm surprised no insulation went under the floor in a cold place like NY - would have expected it to be required.

I used to build houses, and with Mike's guidance, you're doing ok Jimmy..
@@JamesKing-jw6hs thank you! 🙏🏼
All the stuff you’re learnin’. Fun to watch, probably not fun to do. Little bit at a time, right?
i enjoy all of your videos. i don't want to complain, but I live in Florida and my house has a concrete block frame. These concrete block houses tend to survive the storms much better than wood frame. A few years ago a friend who lives in Kansas told me that he wouldn't live in a cinder block house. Recently, another friend from Atlanta, also told me he didn't think cinderblock houses were suitable for habitation. The thing is, I don't care that they don't really understand the advantages of concrete block. What bothers me is, like you, the refer to concrete block as 'cinder block.' . No companies in the USA currently makes cinder blocks. Coal cinders used to help make the blocks lighter and easier to handle, but they were not nearly as strong as current manufactured concrete block. Please don't get mad. I will survive if you keep calling them cinder blocks. Keep up the great work. I'm fascinated with the graveyard house! i hope we're still here in the next few days. Bill from Bradenton.
@@astro1billy thank you for the clarification I had no idea
Really glad you are back, I was wondering how this project was coming along. I enjoyed this episode. Its a really interesting house. Did it never have a driveway or garage? Where did the owner/occupant park, on the road?
why is the board not covered with antiseptic?
Looks good. I miss the hill towns. Is the roof on your great room hood for heavy snow loads?
Will you restore the graveyard? I was hoping you'd go full gothic/spooky.
Mike should take it easy on the juice
Gawd where do you find friends like Mike and Ken? I guess you have the cred to earn it. I can't wait to see the new bandsaw!
I've been wondering what was going on with this place...
Brilliant video sir! I could watch this project all day! I've been extremely curious... are you still getting the ghost hand and footprints?
Are those walls going to get any fire blocking ?
16:26 watch it flyyyyy
I can see why the last owner put the house back on the market. This isn't your average home renovation by a long shot.
Early tonight with the upload
Jimmy, We need a diresta pet update. How are the cats?
