Just imagining the absolute meltdown on the Switch 2 rumour channels if there was a switch direct before they officially announce the Switch 2. It would be worth doing just for that.😂
Coincidentally Good Vibes Gaming just made a video on the same topic. I'd still welcome it if the original Switch gets overdue ports like Yoshi's Wolly World and A Link Between Worlds.
@nintendoforecast I think this is perfect tbh. I got to watch their video yesterday and then I have the pleasure of watching this the day after? Thank you for this blessing 🙇
I don't think that can *surprise* with a move like that. They've made a tradition to inform that there will be no successor content in whatever they're showing, so they'd have to disclose that for anything new too. No mention of "no Switch successor not displayed"? - means there will be something displayed, no surprise. An info that "no Switch successor will be displayed" and then showing it regardless? - less people who are interested in seeing it will see it and if they learn about it they might lose trust in the company. No good way of including a surprise reveal in a Switch 1 Direct
I can totally see a Switch only Direct, even after the reveal of Switch 2. If they explain backwards compatibility enough, with performance boosts out of the gate, even without next gen patches, or a plan to have next gen patches for current and upcoming original Switch games, then nobody should be dissapointed with only Switch focused Direct. They all would work on the next console, and even better than shown in Direct
When you said "Golden Sun this year", my first thought was "wait it's coming in the next week???", but I calmed down and realized you probably mean 2025, not 2024. I mean, I'd LOVE to see it anyways...
I do think it’ll be mostly rereleases on Switch 1 going forward. Here’s my picks!! 1) Yoshi’s Woolly World (likely a pretty straightforward port job, it’s been a while since Crafted World, and developer Good-Feel will need a few more years to get their Switch 2 debut game ready having just launched two games around a year ago). 2) Fire Emblem remake (I could see Nintendo holding off on an original Fire Emblem for Switch 2 until maybe 2027 and instead give one more to Switch as a remake of an older game similar to Shadows of Valentina). 3) Kid Icarus Uprising HD (seems like a high-demand remaster that could also pave the way for a future original Switch 2 Kid Icarus game). 4) Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption Remastered (depending on the amount of effort they put into these, I could see them as either 2025 or 2026 releases. They may hold them off until 2026 to focus on Prime 4 in 2025 and then for the series 40th anniversary in 2026 release the others and celebrate all of them being on Switch). 5) The Legend of Zelda: Winder Waker HD (I think this will be the 2025 Zelda game and it’ll be announced in January for an April release date). And of course Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition. As for original games coming to Switch 1, I don’t think there’ll be any outside of Pokémon Legends ZA, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, and a Mario Baseball game like you mentioned. I do think Nintendo will treat the Switch 1 as they did the 3DS and mostly use it for rereleases while the exciting new games are on Switch 2.
Whenever someone suggests Golden Sun, I always end up having pretty significant doubts. The last time Camelot worked on a Non-sports title was 2010's Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Does Camelot still have that RPG developer DNA in them, or has it faded out within the last decade and then some? I'm not gonna write it off completely, but if I were a Nintendo executive suggesting a Golden Sun revival, I'd have some concerns on whether or not Camelot would be able to deliver. Particularly since the reception to their more recent titles, even if they are a wholly different genre from Golden Sun, tended to be rather lukewarm from what I've seen. I would more likely contract a different studio altogether.

I agree they're way off their 90s/00s glory days, but where there are the Takahashi Brothers, there's hope. (Of course, my real dream would be Shining Force IV or a Golden Sun tactics game).
With Pokémon Legends Z-A, we know thanks to the Game Freak leak that it’s purely a Switch 1 title with no native Switch 2 version being worked on. So unless they just up and started a Switch 2 version since earlier year, PLZA won’t be cross-gen (which never really made sense anyway since Game Freak/TPC attempt to linger on older hardware for longer than most). The Fire Emblem 4 remake is on the same boat, but that’s more based on rumors from the likes of NateDrake than a leak from Intelligent Systems. As for Punch-Out, Imran Khan mentioned on ResetEra that discussions with people close to the franchise (likely a Next Level Games employee) confirm that the series is effectively dead at NLG since the series’ reliance on racist caricatures were a source of backlash……one that they feel they can’t remove fully without also causing backlash. And considering that they have a bigger seller in Luigi’s Mansion, the effort isn’t worth it to them anymore.
As much as I want to believe otherwise, I don't see a Golden Sun revival happening, unfortunately. Most of the developers of the series aren't even at Camelot anymore except for the a few people. So, unless they go the Mario & Luigi route and recruit another developer for assistance (which is VERY possible but also pretty unlikely imo) I don't see it happening. I genuinely hope it does though cause I want the Mario Sports RPGs to come back!
I can see it remaining exclusive to the Switch. Pokemon games tend to have explosive debuts and then sell less than other more evergreen titles, so it may not get much more mileage out of a Switch 2 version
"Calls it Famicom Fairy Tales" LOOK GARY! There I am! I don't see a third Wario Ware happening in the same year as Rhythm Heaven 5: Bloodhound Gang. Mainly because the last 2 Wares were made almost entirely by Intelligent Systems in between Papers and Engage. By it's very nature Ware is a fluctuating team; it's meant to be a training ground for new hires on design fundamentals with Professors Goro Abe and Ko Takeuchi. Rhythm Heaven meanwhile is ALL Ko Takeuchi and Tsuke, and the latter can't talk anymore.
Even if I don’t know that I ultimately believe that this will happen, I do think that it should inform the way we imagine a switch 2 reveal. Switch 1 has an insane install base, and since they are backwards compatible so there is no way they go ham on switch 2 out the gate the way we like to suppose
I'd argue mario baseball has the biggest cult following of the Mario sports games. I still see a ton of super sluggers and super Mario baseball tournaments.
I think we are going to see a GameBoy to GameBoy Color situation where a lot of releases will work on both systems, but the Switch 2 or Switch Pro will have enhancements. Nintendo used to have both the handheld and console market. I think the Switch 2 will replace the current TV models of Switch 1. I believe Switch Lite will stay around for a long time for games like Links Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom, indie titles, and mobile titles like Among Us. I think Switch Lite will vicariously be their handheld system at the lower price and lower spec while the Switch 2 be their home console vicariously with titles requiring higher specs.
If a title doesn’t require the advanced hardware - why cut out 100m+ users. I wouldn’t mind if they made Switch/Switch2 dual releases for years to come.
How much do you want to bet that Nintendo do a Switch 1 Direct in February, completely deadpan no mention of the switch 2, then at the end they say the usual “there’s one more thing we’d like to show you” and drop a slowly rotating 3D model of the Switch 2, animate it flying into its new dock and then pan up to a TV where Mario is pointing to a banner with the release date then fade to black. Then let us stew on that with no other details because they’re the worst 😂
If they announce a Direct without the "no Switch successor" caveat, everyone will be waiting for the one more thing. That said, I think after the reveal there'll still be more questions than answers.
Metroid Prime 4 at the end of 2025... 3D Mario nowhere to be seen... a port of a port for Zelda... I don't like any of this, but I can't help but feel like you're right.
4:35 Forget about the focus on Switch 1, which is the most controversial thing in this video. I see your logic, but I don't think my heart could take another Golden Sun returning rumor.
This isn't a take, it's how it works haha. The Switch's price point still places it in a meaningful way in the marketplace. Unless the Switch 2 releases for the same price and absorbs Switch 1 entirely, then fine, stop making them. I'm not sure how quickly folk think transistion periods are lol. They tend to be a very long time.
I've done a couple of videos like this - I have a playlist for Smaller Franchises. I'll probably talk Ever Oasis if/when I revisit Grezzo. As I understand it, while Nintendo published Pandora's Tower in some territories, they had no other stake in it and it's not necessarily the case they'd be the publishers even if it did return.
I mean, yeah. This is something I have no doubt about. Nintendo is definitely going to give the switch at least another year of decent support even though the switch 2 will come out, that's kinda what they do. Everyone brings up the 3DS when the switch launched which I think is valid, but an even better comparison is the GBA support when the DS came out or DS support when the 3DS came out. The DS had back compat for the GBA but honestly the GBA didn't really feel "finished" until like, 2006 or so. Releases, both third party and first party, were coming out pretty regularly for both the DS and GBA for a solid year or two. Many people also bring up Black and White 2 for the DS and I think that's a good point as well. Also, part of me wonders if they delayed the switch 2 by a year just because they want to break PS2 lifetime sales. They could very easily do that if they just keep the switch in production for a while more and cut the price by a good bit.
If Nintendo truly does just a Switch 1 only direct in January then, imo they've played it so safe they've wrapped around to unsafe. I feel like there's a point to where hardcore and to an extent casual consumers may get "fed up" and jump to other PC handhelds, at least in the short term and then pick up the Switch 2 later, maybe at the OLED/Pro revision. I don't think it'll be a massive blow against them, but there is significant risk in letting a portion of their audience get a taste of hardware like the Steam Deck. I do think we'll geta significant cross gen period with lots of cross gen titles, but a Switch 1 only focused January Direct feels like it can do significant harm in inadvertently advertising to consumers that the Switch 2 is "far off".
I have a list but I keep forgetting to update it so it's a mess. Sometime in the spring (Aprilish), I'll do a roundup and I'll go through. I'll post something like this up at that point.
I lament the fact that many Nintendo IP such as StarFox, Rhythm Heaven, Punch-Out, Wave Race, and Pushmo didn’t make it to the Nintendo Switch. I think those franchises would have benefited greatly by being on the Switch. Many of Nintendo’s other franchises have seen their best sales ever on the system, and I would have loved to have seen the same happen with those dormant franchises I mentioned, as well as others, like the Excite bike/truck series.
As funny as it would be to see the internet's reaction to a Direct for Switch 1 only before showing Switch 2, I do feel it'll be reversed. That saying, Kirby Planet Robobot is something that's so likely, not even Nate needed to say it. And Golden Sun would be awesome.
If there’s a Switch 1 Direct before the Switch 2’s announcement event, I think it will be a Partener Showcase where they’ll show smaller third party games, if Nintendo and their third party partner have some big first party/third party cross-gen games to announce, it would make far more sense for them to announce them directly at the Switch 2 reveal event and put the Switch 1 logo at the end of the reaveal trailers together with the Switch 2 logo. Announcing those games in a separate Switch 1 Direct would only cannibilize the Switch 2 event, making people think “yeah we already know about this game, where’s the new stuff?” for a good portion of the games showed at the event, and this is not ideal for Nintendo. I’m not saying that the Switch won’t have new games in 2025, I too think the console will receive plenty of games despite the launch of the new system, I’m just saying that announcing them in a dedicated Direct before the Switch 2 reveal would be a terrible idea in my opinion, I’m not expecting to see anything like that in January.
There are so many games that don't need to be exclusive to the new console - one exclusive every quarter is fine, as all the other games will still look/perform better, plus many third party AAA will be exclusive. I want Rhythm Heaven! My Switch 2 Theory Compilation: Accurate Pointing - IR has been moved to top of the right JoyCon rail, and the Switch 2 has a hidden sensor bar. C button is Calibrate/Centre. Prime 4 is cross-plat release title Two power profiles - choose between Power or Battery mode, allowing docked performance with handheld play Upscaling dock - takes 1080 image and upscales to 4K lag-free (quality roughly equivalent to daisy chain of mClassic and 4K Gamer Pro). Upscales all OG Switch games, and could potentially dock the OG Switch DLSS - optional upscaling for third parties to hit 1080/60 stable performance with demanding AAA games Couple devices - Couple your Switch 2 with another Switch 2, OG Switch, maybe even a Switch 2 dock. This casts a second UNIQUE display to the other device, enabling single cartridge multiplayer across two devices, up to 8-player split-screen across two devices (including two TVs), and options for all forms of dual screen play, where supported Dock HUD - while docked, the Switch 2 unit can display HUD elements of supported games Force Feedback Sticks - Resistance in analogue sticks based on various forms of interactivity with environment. (Patent is public now as Switch 2 release was delayed.)
Knowing that the Switch 2 will be announced this fisical year, I would imagine a January Switch 1 Direct being a Partner Showcase featuring at least HAL Laboratory, Bandai Namco Studios, and the Online Playtest as Switch 1 highlights. In terms of a timeline, I think the Switch 1 will be supported throughout the 2025 fiscal year, but the rate of announcements will decline once the Switch 2 is revealed. I wouldn't expect Nintendo to reveal the Switch 2 in a Direct, but rather in a separate press release that's followed by a Switch 2 stage presentation next fisical year, putting distance between a January Switch Direct while getting the system out in time for a September 2025 Direct where they can go all out with Switch 1 & 2 announcements. Based on this speculation, the pipeline may play out as follows: - Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on the week of January 6th with no mention of the Switch successor. - Switch 2 may be revealed in a press release on the week of January 27th. They can discuss system details in a timely manner for their February 4th investor meeting. - Switch 2 marketing materials, filming, and a presentation will need between 5-8 weeks of preparation. Switch 1 games announced this past year and in a January Direct would fill in time gaps between the transition from Switch 1 to the successor console. - A Switch 2 stage presentation, similar to the Switch 1's January 2017 showcase, could then be broadcasted on the week of April 7th. This would reveal launch window games, release date, price, etc. Then Nintendo would have to prepare a widescale marketing campaign for their Switch 2 system and launch window titles. - Given another 8 weeks, the Switch 2 could release on June 6th. Early adopters can get on a major Switch 2 launch title, while the majority of the Switch 1 user base can still enjoy a new game in late June or early July. - A September 2025 Direct with both Switch 1 & 2 announcements can bolster both systems that Holiday season, and gives consumers a generous window to transition between systems while not completely abandoning the 150+ million install base of Switch 1. TLDR: - Switch 2 reveal in late January separate from a Nintendo Direct. - Switch 2 presentation in April. - Switch 2 release in early June, a pretty good time for their ~20 year old average user. - September 2025 Direct lays out the actual transition between Switch 1 and 2. Food for thought. Keep up the good work
More they wait for their next gen, more outdated it is gonna be at launch. Tech moves very quickly and just a year wait means new GPU and CPU that will make any console look anemic.
but if they're going to do a switch 1 direct anyways, i don't think they'd skip the september direct, especially with how they shadow dropped xenoblade x
Sorry NF but a new Golden Sun will never happen 😭😭 having said that I’ve always wondered if someone would take on a 3D remake, if they could somehow retain the art style and character charm in a 3D environment it could be absolutely glorious. Give it to Monolith Soft they would be perfect
Interesting analysis as always. Definitely agree that there's probably going to be more for the Switch 1 over 2025 (Especially considering there's backwards compatibility) Something I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on - The announcement of an Aardman/Pokemon collaboration a couple of weeks back (And, let's be honest, I'm still high off of watching Vengence Most Fowl a few days ago. And yesterday.) has gotten me wondering what the likelihood of future Aardman collaborations would be (and more generally what animation studios Nintendo and adjacent companies are likely to collaborate with)
Oddly, I started a script for this back in 2023 in which I identified 'philosophically aligned' companies/people who Nintendo could work with - Aardman and Lego being two of them. I'll certainly give it some thought.
I dunno if I believe there'll be another Golden Sun game, mostly because it feels like Camelot has settled nicely into the niche of sports game developer for Nintendo and taking time off from sports to make an RPG with complex physical interactions, which is what I feel Golden Sun almost has to be in the modern era, feels like a big risk with little potential gain. I'd like to see it, but I feel like you'd have to let Camelot grow a whole new team so they can maintain sports AND Sun. And I don't know if I dare believe it. I also saw a rumor on a forum that Nintendo received backlash for Punch-Out Wii's comparatively milder ethnic stereotypes to the older Punch-Out games and told Next Level Games they didn't want that heat, so they were told to focus on Luigi's Mansion. It's a little bit sad if true, even if it just a rumour right now, but still worth taking into consideration.
Interesting about Punch Out!! As for Golden Sun, they still describe themselves (somewhat implausibly) as an RPG developer, referencing the adventure modes in Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, so I'm not sure it's that far from their niche. But obviously there are many other options. As I think I said on a past Camelot video, I still think a non-Mario golf title (e.g. Animal Crossing Golf) is plausible.
Here's what I think what's going to happen. We're going to get a hand full of new games like next Mario Kart, Dr. Mario, Mario Baseball to be announced, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond and Pokemon Legends ZA will launch in Summer 2025 with Mario Kart being the big Holiday launch for 2025 as the Switch's last Holiday game. Ports: We're going to see Yoshi's Woolly World I.E Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World Deluxe, Star Fox Zero + Guard with being a two games in one I.E Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Sonic X Shadow Generations, and a 2 pack The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD being that with Xenoblade Chronicles X showed that Nintendo is not done porting their Wii U games. Remasters: Yes we're getting Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and that We may see Kirby Planet Robobot HD and The Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds HD is coming to the Switch (and maybe Super Mario 3D Land HD and New Super Mario Bros. 2 HD just for sh*ts and giggles) As for the next console, We'll most likely get a codename drop by Q2 2025 and by the time when the Super Mario Bros. movie 2 comes out and it beings in Frozen II like money, that's when Nintendo will announces their next console, keep in mind Nintendo is going in like Disney with theme parks and films and after the Super Mario Bros. movie 2 releases in theaters and it dose record breaking numbers, I feel would be a perfect time to announce that successor to the Nintendo Switch.
i wonder if threes good 3rd party support like good versions of elden ring or other games the switch 1 can't run would push the switch 2 apart from the original in these years where the switch 1 is likely to still have support.
No new gen Pokémon in 2025? If they stick to their usual cadence of releases for the mainline games I think a new game is going to come out in 2025 (that is besides ZA)
I think there needs to be clean cut. I really don't want another boring cross gen period. PS5 Series X is still suffering. Lots of people are still using base PS4 because big games like Fortnite, CAll of Duty and annual sports games are still coming to PS4. If people are buying Switch 1 instead of Switch 2, that is a problem. I think Nintendo should move away Switch 1 as quickly as possible.
@ it was super slow and unrewarding to progress. i was like "man this isnt fun at all...". i played for a few hours straight and i was kinda tired of it after the first 40 minutes. maybe just not for me in the end, but there was sooooo much improvement needed to be made
@CooldownCentral I did have a lot of smaller gripes with it, so I provided a lot of feedback in the surveys, but I gave it some more time and found myself really enjoying a lot about it. The lack of tutorials after the start hurt it, but I eventually came to the realization that using trees from killing Oots made progress a lot faster, and once it gets going it does feel more satisfying
I think it’s worth at least putting in the conversation that supposed insider PH Brazil has mentioned a Switch 1 focused Direct in February. Of course, given how this is rumors and I know you don’t talk rumors, I don’t put stock in it until we actually see a Direct announcement. But to the point, I do think a Switch 1 Direct will probably happen at some point next year early on, just to show the original Switch still will be supported.
I wasn't aware of this but I think come what may the next Direct will have a heavy Switch focus - just like the 3DS continued to be a big part of Directs into 2018.
@ I fully agree with that, even if this rumored Direct isn’t true, I fully agree Switch will continue to see support well into the successor’s lifespan.
I have another hot take for you. I don't consider the Switch to be in the 9th generation of home consoles. I consider the Switch to be the 9th generation of handheld systems. In that context, it's an advanced system. After all, the PSP could hook up to the TV also and then there was PSPTV (or whatever that Vita box was called). I believe Switch 2, or Switch Pro, will try to be the 10th generation home console with second life breathed into the Switch Lite to be a pseudo 10th generation handheld. They already hinted at changes for the Switch 1 NSO services with the worldwide playtest. I think we will see a "Switch Lite Pro" in the far future and not anytime soon like last time.
I have the unpopular opinion that Switch 2 will be announced this year and released next year. I believe the leaked images are simply a brand new, Switch XL (aka Switch 1)
They aren't waiting that long. The thing will be announced before March 31st, they aren't waiting almost a full year to release it that makes no sense.
Yeah, just like the real end of the 3DS was in 2019 when it was superseded by the Switch Lite, I expect they'll keep the Switch 1 alive until they have a Lite version for Switch 2.
I've been saying for a long time that I thought Switch 2 was a 2025 thing but Closer to Holiday then not anyway and regardless of summer or Holiday that most games would come to switch. I think we're at the point in gaming that years into the ps5 games still come to ps4 as regularly if not more regularly. Nintendo is not ignorant to the reality that folks simply mostly don't care about power they just want fun games that run well. The switch 2 just needs to be able to run BG3 and it's basically golden for 8 more years.
If they announced a Switch 1 direct with no mention of successor console in late January i think the internet would implode in on itself lmao
And I actually think it might happen hahaha
Just imagining the absolute meltdown on the Switch 2 rumour channels if there was a switch direct before they officially announce the Switch 2. It would be worth doing just for that.😂
That's practically guaranteed
“Nintendo has FORGOTTEN about Switch 2…”
It would be hilarious, but shareholders aren't exactly known for their sense of humor.
@@MichaelHeide Their major shareholders is just like a local bank that never does anything.
@@MichaelHeide Shareholders wouldn't be spooked by something trivial like that.
I mean, the reason they slowed down the announcement for the new console could have been to reduce the gap between the console and the new games.
Coincidentally Good Vibes Gaming just made a video on the same topic. I'd still welcome it if the original Switch gets overdue ports like Yoshi's Wolly World and A Link Between Worlds.
A give us Wario Land Shake it.
Cool - love GVG. I did see their video on my recommends but I didn't really want to reschedule mine. I'll be interested to hear their takes.
@nintendoforecast I think this is perfect tbh. I got to watch their video yesterday and then I have the pleasure of watching this the day after? Thank you for this blessing 🙇

Nintendo can make an normal Nintendo switch direct and secretly and surprise everyone with announcements.

I would also expect to see Nintendo finally cut the price of Switch consoles and also finally introduce Nintendo Switch Selects.
I can totally see a Switch only Direct, even after the reveal of Switch 2. I do think it’ll be mostly rereleases on Switch 1 going forward. Here’s my picks!!

I see where you’re coming from but fuck me, Nintendo has blueballed us for too long. We have to get that Switch 2 announcement soon
Even if I don’t know that I ultimately believe that this will happen, I do think that it should inform the way we imagine a switch 2 reveal.
Switch 1 has an insane install base, and since they are backwards compatible so there is no way they go ham on switch 2 out the gate the way we like to suppose
Golden Sun, lets go!!!
Good analysis. Logical.
4:39 Don't do this... Don't give me hope... :(
I'd argue mario baseball has the biggest cult following of the Mario sports games.
Deca police was delayed for 2026... Switch 1 will still have some nice games.
I just hope there is not much dual gen releases. As a collector I will need to buy 2 copies. 😢
Honestly, I think decapolice will come out in like 2027. I’ve learned to not take level 5’s word for granted when it comes to release dates lol
@@tsp184 it's what, the third delay already? If they delay it even more they will brake a record or something. Lol.

Forget about the focus on Switch 1, which is the most controversial thing in this video.
I'd like to hear your opinion on the likelihood of returning old nintendo ips like pandora tower and ever oasis making it for switch 2?
Would be so smart if Switch games come that would just look much better on the Switch 2. So it is only a win for everyone.
2:38 Is there an updated document containing your predictions, and if not can you start providing one?
I would love the 2 new story of season games which are getting made coming on the switch 2
My Switch 2 Theory Compilation:
Accurate Pointing - IR has been moved to top of the right JoyCon rail, and the Switch 2 has a hidden sensor bar. C button is Calibrate/Centre. Prime 4 is cross-plat release title
Two power profiles - choose between Power or Battery mode, allowing docked performance with handheld play
Upscaling dock - takes 1080 image and upscales to 4K lag-free (quality roughly equivalent to daisy chain of mClassic and 4K Gamer Pro). Upscales all OG Switch games, and could potentially dock the OG Switch
DLSS - optional upscaling for third parties to hit 1080/60 stable performance with demanding AAA games
Couple devices - Couple your Switch 2 with another Switch 2, OG Switch, maybe even a Switch 2 dock. This casts a second UNIQUE display to the other device, enabling single cartridge multiplayer across two devices, up to 8-player split-screen across two devices (including two TVs), and options for all forms of dual screen play, where supported
Dock HUD - while docked, the Switch 2 unit can display HUD elements of supported games
Force Feedback Sticks - Resistance in analogue sticks based on various forms of interactivity with environment.
Based on this speculation, the pipeline may play out as follows:
- Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on the week of January 6th with no mention of the Switch successor.
TLDR:
- Switch 2 reveal in late January separate from a Nintendo Direct.
Sega is trying to bring back Shining Force.
Golden Sun is nowhere near gone when you consider what is happening with revived IPs now.
Interesting analysis as always. Definitely agree that there's probably going to be more for the Switch 1 over 2025 (Especially considering there's backwards compatibility)
Something I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on - The announcement of an Aardman/Pokemon collaboration a couple of weeks back (And, let's be honest, I'm still high off of watching Vengence Most Fowl a few days ago.
Mario Tennis and Golf are rapidly declining in popularity and quality. The only chance Camelot has to be relevant again is by reviving Golden Sun.
Ports:
We're going to see Yoshi's Woolly World I.E Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World Deluxe, Star Fox Zero + Guard with being a two games in one I.E Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Sonic X Shadow Generations, and a 2 pack The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD being that with Xenoblade Chronicles X showed that Nintendo is not done porting their Wii U games.
Remasters:
Yes we're getting Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and that We may see Kirby Planet Robobot HD and The Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds HD is coming to the Switch (and maybe Super Mario 3D Land HD and New Super Mario Bros. 2 HD just for sh*ts and giggles)
As for the next console, We'll most likely get a codename drop by Q2 2025 and by the time when the Super Mario Bros. movie 2 comes out and it beings in Frozen II like money, that's when Nintendo will announces their next console, keep in mind Nintendo is going in like Disney with theme parks and films and after the Super Mario Bros. movie 2 releases in theaters and it dose record breaking numbers, I feel would be a perfect time to announce that successor to the Nintendo Switch.
Someone in Japan is already playing the Switch 2 💯🤣🤣🤣
i wonder if threes good 3rd party support like good versions of elden ring or other games the switch 1 can't run would push the switch 2 apart from the original in these years where the switch 1 is likely to still have support.
No new gen Pokémon in 2025? If they stick to their usual cadence of releases for the mainline games I think a new game is going to come out in 2025 (that is besides ZA)
In before we get a Switch mini.
Nintendo Switch 2
100% agree Switch 1 will be around & supported for years!!!!!!!!! not one or two years… more like 4 or 5 years after the release of Switch 2
I don't mind if its still a Switch game direct.
as someone who played the playtest game, that shit was so boring 😭... i dropped it on the first day lol
Maybe it wasn't for you, but there was a lot more to it that you probably wouldn't have been able to discover if you only played for a bit on Day 1
@ it was super slow and unrewarding to progress. i was like "man this isnt fun at all...". i played for a few hours straight and i was kinda tired of it after the first 40 minutes. maybe just not for me in the end, but there was sooooo much improvement needed to be made
@CooldownCentral I did have a lot of smaller gripes with it, so I provided a lot of feedback in the surveys, but I gave it some more time and found myself really enjoying a lot about it. The lack of tutorials after the start hurt it, but I eventually came to the realization that using trees from killing Oots made progress a lot faster, and once it gets going it does feel more satisfying
Being a long-time ninty ambassador in a post-ds era is suffering.
Never againtendo.
To clarify, I mean announced 2025, and released 2026.
Really, that's a nice idea, but literally everything is pointing to it being a switch 2 every leak, every insider, even the pictures
They aren't waiting that long. The thing will be announced before March 31st, they aren't waiting almost a full year to release it that makes no sense.
It also would not be a Switch XL. We already have the Switch Oled, so there's no reason to announce another variant this late into the Switch's life.
Announcement on March: We are working on a Switch successor, release somewhere after 2026.
They'll just make a bunch of games that work on both. Same thing with BoTW but with one cart.
Switch 2 Bullshit Channels will have a meltdown 😂😂😂😂😂
Nintendo needs to go back to the two console system, one for little kids (switch lite) and one for the fans, Switch 2
