END OF THE ROAD With My AMG GT R Roadster! 4,000 Miles Update

- It's the end of the road for my AMG GT R Roadster! With 4,000 miles on the clock it's time to get it back home with plenty of thoughts as to what the future of it will be now that I've spent so much time with it.
After a packed couple of weeks shooting content across Germany and in Italy, it's the end of the adventure and time to bring the AMG GT R Roadster back home to the UK. Over that time it has traveled over 3,000 miles extra, taking it to 4,000 miles in total and what amazing stops that has included like visiting Maranello, Italy and some laps of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Germany.
Amusingly, we've been calling this the 'Roster Tour' as most mobile phones auto-correct Roadster to Roster, and hence lots of messages have had it spelled that way. Sadly though, while heading out in a convertible for the journey, the weather has been the opposite of what we would have liked for the vast majority of the drive.
With so many miles though, let's have a dive into some of the thoughts about it, from the fuel tank size to the spoiler issue, plus finally time to remove the running in sticker - just slightly overdue!

I love the fact that you don't use public roads as racetracks like so many other youtubers do. Big respect Tim!
I heard Tim say on a Sterio app interview he's driving over 100k miles in a year an average of around 275 miles a day. Then he was asked how many miles you driven the last 3 days for instance I'll never forget this he said he drove from his home in Central London to Edinburgh then Tuesday Edinburgh to Cornwall then Wednesday Cornwall to nurburgring for content shooting that was 1600 miles in 3 days. The guy does 100k miles a high year working on his youtube channel. He said not many people realise just how much driving he does to get to the place to make the content. He works hard. I drive 15k a year and I think I drive alot.
Smaller fuel tank and less boot capacity is the price to pay for open top motoring. Have to store the hood when down. Small price to pay for the wind in your hair. Lovely car.
Love the European road trips and especially the Nordeshleife content.

Really like that car! Truely a driver's vehicle & it looks amazing.
Lately the weather over there sucks. Almost every vlog it was raining at one point or another. I really enjoy your trips and of course your road reports on various cars. Your knowledge of the cars is spectacular to say the least. I’ve never been across the Atlantic and have my doubts that I ever will at my age. Thanks for posting these vlogs they really are great. Would have been nice to have seen you taking in the Stelvio Pass when commuting between Germany and Italy, although I appreciate it's not exactly the most direct route. Thanks for content though Tim, it's been enjoyable having the varied content, especially whilst travel is so restricted.

How many miles a year do you recon shmee does considering he did 7500 miles in a month on the usa tour and 4000 miles in this in 2 weeks that's 1.5 months already 11500 miles I recon he's doing 100k miles a year. The dude spends an enormous amount of time driving places to make this content.

Fun fact. Our 2016 Porsche Cayenne has recently received a software update when it was serviced at the dealer and now reads the timed speed limits in the Netherlands! Hope other manufacturers update their systems.
Mercedes reads timed speed limits for years. It’s only in the rain or some other non optimal conditions that this doesn’t work
Often in Belgium there is a lot of rain - yes, that's my recolection of the place. Every time I've been through the country - always on the way between France and Germany - it was wet. Very wet.

How do the tires hold up in the rain on your cars? Are they difficult to drive when it's wet out? I guess they would be since they really wide and don't have a lot of siping.
As nice as this car is, why not sell it and get a 812 GTS as a keeper car?
Because it costs way more, is not as comfortable.
The 812 GTS is actually about 2.5x the price so it would be quite a different proposition. What I love about the AMGs is that the mileage isn't so precious, I'm less panicky about what happens with it and can feel more free and enjoying the experience. If something should ever go wrong, the bill won't sting me so much! This is certainly a personal 'level' thing and maybe in the future the likes of an 812 GTS would feel more manageable for me.
It’d be interesting seeing you get the STO, Black series GTR, and possibly a pista in place of a three AMG GT’s

I wish you'd keep the GTR Pro and sell the roadster, Tim. The Pro is such a great looking and special car. Is it me or is it ages since you've driven it on the channel.
So we’ve had over 20 yrs to build a road tunnel parallel to the Eurotunnel ….. so we drive through it to France like most civilised people rather than put a car on a train. Over 20 yrs

It would help a lot with your audio is you got yourself a separate mic system. (a) they're just better quality and (b) you don't get the issues of loss of audio when you pan away.

Maybe too many AMG GT cars? I'd keep the GT R Pro for now, then only the Black Series once you get it.
Perhaps a review of all the cars and make adjustments as needed when there is too much redundancy?

Shout out to Pupi150 (on IG) who always makes the best camera person. She knows when to turn and when to look at the different things Tim is talking about. Granted she has a lot of experience, but I don't think people realize that Tim's on board narratives wouldn't look as good if not for her. And she is the unsung hero of the blogs sometimes.

I love your videos, but it's so much background noise in videos like this. Maybe something like the Røde HS2 would make it better, but I can't find any samples from noisy environment, but something where the microphone is very closes to the mouth would be better :)
