BOTH AMG GT R Roadster and GT R Pro? UNEXPECTED DIFFERENCES!

- My AMG GT R Roadster is now ready for the road! Topaz Detailing have completed the PPF so we're on the road with the GT R Pro too, for a first drive and comparison between the two models. There are more differences than you might think... aside from the obvious fact that one's a convertible!
Having dropped the Roadster off a few days ago for a run through the Topaz wash bay ahead of paint protection film installation, the process is now complete which means a 'first' drive. While technically I did drive it on the road to bring it home on collection day, it's a different feeling when you know it's ready and safe on the roads.
To pick up the Roadster, it made sense to get the two AMG GTs together for a back to back drive for a feel of how they actually stack up and of course answer the questions as to why they are both in the garage together.
Meanwhile, the next stop is to deliver the GT R Pro to the Mercedes-Benz service centre as it is now a year old and time for the annual routine maintenance to be carried out. Stay tuned though, because tomorrow something surprising will join the Shmeemobiles...!

I don't get that eithert, unless it's because his bad back simply can't deal with these seats. Otherwise i see no reason to loose the air scarf.

@@jo05dk your right on the pro it looks fine but the roadster is meant so cruse with the roof down and a super comfortable seat. He also,talks about it being a road car so it makes no sense.
He will lose seat heater, airscarf and electric operation - and access is less easy. But if he finds the buckets more comfortable on his long driving days ....
With all those Benz in the collection, are we heading for a new channel name: Shmerc150? 😄
Tim should actually sell all the other Non - Mercedes cars and have an only Mercedes Car collection. (Just kidding)

Don't know if it's only me but I think you should swap the grey rims of the GTR pro with the black ones of the GTR Roadster... So the GTR pro would have black rims matching with the stripes and the general theme of the car... And the GTR Roadster would have grey wheels that can go really well with the red

Shmee is a lovely guy, most of us will never own cars like this, his down to earth love of sharing his cars is clearly nothing to do with status or boasting, just love. We are lucky people like him exist giving us an insight to such wonderful cars. Personally a big thank you from me Shmee !

I wouldn’t put the buckets I personally think the roadster look more refined and the oem suits the car. But not my car and its a delight to see the videos cheers from Mexico
Just wait until you have the Yellow GT BS next to the Red Roadster that will be the perfect combo colour wise and different drive dynamics from similar looking vehicles.

Have you thought about swapping the black roadster wheels over to the pro for to match the black livery you did? Might be the final stormtrooper touch? The grey wheels might actually look better on the roadster as well. Might be worth trying out !?

Congratulations - The Roadster is a stunning car and just love the yellow stitching on the seats. Think you'll miss the air scarf if you put the buckets in - are they that much better?
For me personally, yes, I love the bucket seat from AMG and find it a lot more comfortable. Plus it's just cool to have buckets in a convertible!

I think this channel consists of Shmee just taking one car after another in for scheduled maintenance. That seems to be the only way they leave the garage, or the only times I tune in

The best one that is missing from your collection is the new Alfa Romeo GTAm model. 540 bhp in a light weight, hand made, specialty sedan from one of the best heritage brand 110 years running. Ever since watching the Chris Harris interview on Remove Before Racings channel I'm beginning to see his point: TH-camrs buying cars for the sake of views. Why would Shmee buy more or less the same Mercedes albeit in a slight different spec?
Because they’re actually very different in characteristics. The Pro is stiff as hell, much lower and has a bigger front splitter meaning it’s a pain to drive as a daily, which is why he’s got the gtr pro as more of a daily but still looks the mutts nuts, is softer, has all the options like blind spot assist and all the rest of it.

Between a race-oriented car and a street-oriented car, I'll always take the latter. Comfort and quiet, while looking excellent. That's my style.
Why didn't you have the Roadster fully PPF'd? I wouldn't think it would cost that much more just to have the doors, rear 3/4 and boot protected, I know money is money but is it worth the risk?
I'm heartbroken knowing there's a very real chance the GT-R pro might not hang around long once the GT BS shows up... The White and Black Track Monster is truly one of my favourite Shmeemobiles, and without doubt the toughest looking GT (personally i prefer the old front end over the new). Will be a sad day to see it leave.

TVR had to take gov't bailout money, which means they had to meet new additional gov't regs -- which adds a year in development. My bet is it will never be produced.

If this is supposed to be a cruiser, I don't fully understand the point of getting the bucket seats and losing the AIRSCARF, especially since you used it right away upon driving from Topaz. If you wanted to have it be a track car, sure, but the convenience of that in a convertible, being used as the open-top GT car it was meant to be, seems too great to lose, especially since those seats seem pretty bucket-y already.
Tim find the buckets actually more comfortable which why he’s switching them.
