I come back and watch this from time to time. I tear up every time. Not only did WotLK represent my favorite time in my favorite game, it also represents a time in my life in my early-mid 20s where all of my friends played the same game and we just rushed home from work without a single responsibility and sunk all our time into adventuring through Northrend together. It represents my youth, innocents, naivety, and ignorance that I will never get back. Even when/if WotLK classic comes out I'm gonna play it but it will never recapture what I had then... it was actual lightning in a bottle. Just wish there was a way to know you're in the good ole days when you're living it, I would have taken more of my time to just soak it all in.

This video killed me as well. I don't quite understand the context, like why did he go to Grizzly Hills and get nostalgic? Had he not been there for awhile? Every time I resub WoW it's one of the first places I fly to. Now that Chromie is in retail any char I level I do in Wrath for this zone lol.
But yeah, I understand his nostalgia. When Wrath released, I had been married for almost exactly 1.5 years (I married at 21 so was still college-ish age). My computer was rarely used for anything other than paying bills or checking email. I had no need for a computer when I met my wife, but I had to try Wrath. All my unmarried pals my age would bug me to get on TBC and I was tired of TBC, but when Wrath hit, I was like "Boys, let's give it another go." Little did I know then that would be the last true time I had allll the boys together to nerd out with. Some passed due to tragedy, others got married, many disliked Cata because it changed so much. However, Wrath? Wrath was peeeaaaak. So many alts, so many repeated questing, so much good shit. So much horde ganking (back when servers were 50/50ish and not 99% horde 1% alliance). Damn it was so good, and that f'n damn song lol kills me every time.
If Blizz would just listen to us just once, and do what we beg them to do, SL wouldn't be in such a state.
Anyway, I've never seen Asmon get emotional. That was beautiful.

The way he jumps when he hears the music start.. I took a break from WoW after Cata. I was graduating high school. starting college and my first job. I didnt play again until WoD. By this time I'm 21. Had been through a rough relationship. Dropped out of college twice. I knew i was mentally not handling stuff well but i never thought about it. But i started playing WoW again. And one day i just flew through Grizzly Hills. And i heard this music and i just stopped. My chest seized up. I couldnt even think. And i had this just. 100% vivid memory. When i was in high school. Leveling through Northrend for the first time. And i had hit a wall in Grizzly Hills. Every day I'd get home and log on. ready to play 10 hours straight like normal. But every day. I'd get on. Start a quest. And back then I didn't know. Didnt even think about it. But the music gave me such bad. just heart stopping anxiety and i just couldnt play. It took me months to get through Grizzly Hills because of it. It took until WoD, almost 10 years later for me to realize it and even consider the fact i might be depressed. This game is so much more than a game. It truly was another world for us. I'm never gonna cancel my sub again. I dont care what happens. Blizzard always uses that phrase. Creating an experience. And that's what this game truly was. All the days playing hooky. The people we met and every second we didn't have to deal with the real world. Nothing will ever capture me the way Warcraft does.

Unfortunately one of the main factors of having fun is that you're basically lost in the moment and don't really appreciate it for what it is. I feel like it's kind of a weird paradox.. Since I've realised that i do often try and take a moment to myself whenever I'm having a great time with friends because I know how fleeting it can be

Oh man dude grizzly hills music always makes me cry. I remember when I first started wow it was during the beginning of wrath at my uncles house I always spent the night every weekend and one day he showed me wow he was in grizzly hills mining and he let me make a charachter after he finished up. I made a night elf druid and played from there on out every weekend and I remember questing through grizzly hills and doing mining for my uncle on his main he payed me money for mining a shit ton for him so that I could buy the game my self so me him and my cousin could play the game together when I dont spend the night. Sadly my uncle passed away 3 years ago and this song always makes me cry because it reminds me of when I started wow in wrath I miss always seeing his name login to the game.

This speaks to me right in the feels. The thing about WoTLK was that it aimed for the stars, Vanilla and TBC were great as time went on more stuff got added and it was getting more and more dramatic. But nothing prepared us for that boat ride/zeppelin ride into Northrend for the first time. It was a whole new WoW and it was so exciting. This dramatic and varied landscape with an absolute wealth of treasures, rares, dungeons and more just waiting to be discovered. No quest tracking, no map markers or world quests, just a shit ton of stuff to discover all at your fingertips. It was a real display of the potential of this game being realised, and those of us that were there to see it will never forget that.
The later games are more 'epic' and dramatic sure, with cinematics and all this other shit going on, but there was something humble and exciting about Northrend, something subdued and warming that just kept you absorbed. The community was at it's best then - it's most active. Knowing you couldn't log out in Dalaran cos your game might crash or freeze on login from so many players, it was just insane. I miss it. Nostalgia - hard mode.

Yup. Best music in the game. I still go back to Grizzly Hills and fly around while the music plays, just like this video and I get emotional too. I am sure many do as well.
I am 65 years old and have been playing since the game released in 2004. I still love it so much, still play every day. And yeah back then it seemed like it would never end.
Our huge guild raided and ran dungeons all the time. Some of our best friendships were formed in the dungeons, in the boss fights. It seemed like it would never end.
And now it is 2020 and Shadowlands has just released, my guild Arclight on TB is down to 180 members and on most days I play alone. People that I thought would be friends for life have drifted away and it feels like the end of WoW is near.
So on some days, like you, I get on my TLPD and head for Grizzly Hills, or the Storm Peaks or some of my other favorite places and sit on a peak or by a river or in a Forrest and listen to the music and reflect on the good old days.
I hope it never ends. Long live World of Warcraft. The best world I have ever known.

wotlk was the best expansion in term of music for sure. Grizzly Hills, cinematics, Ulduar, Howling and Borean ambience. Toc, boys, Toc has the best battle osts. Eyewatering. I've built myself a scandinavian medieval bowed harp just to learn how to play Grizzly Hills ost ( wrong instrument tho, i have a tagelharpa, Grizzly hills is played by a nyckelharpa, another really cool instrument, but it will do)

I have this feeling more about Burning Crusade. I liked WotLK more overall, especially because it had Death Knights and undead and Lich King was my favorite character. But during BC, my sister played WoW with me. And I met people in the game that we actually interacted with and socialized with. Back in the day, there were no real social media. So WoW could be actually used to chat with people over the internet. And WoW friend was always at least 100 times more real than whatever a Facebook friend could ever be.
And while I liked WotLK more, my sister would play much much less, and due to changes on our server, massive number of people dropped out. So I was mainly playing alone. And it never got better since then.
The Karazhan runs were the most memorable time of my gaming life. And I was lucky enough to gain the last materials I needed from the last friend who quit WoW at the time to craft my Lionheart's blade.
But now, I play on a different acoount, so I no longer have that weapon appearance. For shame.
Yet it felt like something. But it was an end of an era for me.

This place will always have a special place in my heart. My life has always been full of struggles, even in my early years I have no choice but to work so we have something to eat. One of the job that I had was an internet cafe shop attendant, it was really hard balancing school and work. During my free time I play WOW in my workplace, I was a junior in highschool. I still remember leveling with my pet wolf named Bedok in grizzly hills (same name with my real life dog he died last nov😭😭). My friends and I grinded here until lvl 80, shit I don't even know what GS is back then. I stopped playing wow after slaying arthas, and graduating highschool. Life is s different now. I bid farewell to my guild in the southern spot of grizzly hills, I said goodbye to my friends here. I am a nurse now, I dont have time to play WOW, but I still take time to listen to this nostalgic music. Thank you for everything guild master VC

Man I never unsubbed once from Vanilla up to Wrath. I played quite a bit in Cata, but it was the first time I ever unsubbed, I realized that the game wasn't infallible, and the content that I enjoyed, and the community I thrived in, wouldn't last forever. I've played less and less every expansion. Now I usually only mess around for about a month each expansion, to see the start, and the end. WoW is a different game.

The only zone on wrath that I level in still, not that the other zones are bad, it’s just the feel to this zone the music the environment and of course the memories. The immersion of the giant forest trees, the freedom of exploration, I could almost feel the wind on my face going through here and seeing the lights across the horizon. Truly one of the best experiences and times to have been playing WoW.

WoW is amazing because not only is it an amazing game, with it's stories, and people you met and decisions you had to make, late nights where you'd watch the sun come up in the barrens, and outside your window, tiny intimate moments where you had to stop in a safe place and eat some food, and because your toon was eating, you could stop and take a bite as well, and then the music, the music is something that can make you cry, it can bring back all the memories, every person every battle every grind every death, every kill, every BG won and lost, every boss downed, every raid beaten, everytime you were able to work together and feel the struggle with 24 other people, and the satisfaction you would have when you all did it because you did it together!

    • @caseysteger3514
      @caseysteger3514 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Everytime you lost someone, everytime a guild disbanded, everytime you found someone you lost, everytime you got an epic, everytime you clinched the win, everytime you were the only person alive to kill the boss, everytime, you lead the group, everytime you ran some newbs, everytime you saw a badass, everytime a newb thought -you- were a badass, everytime you got top DPS, everytime, you were the best tank/dps/heals, everytime you saw a cinematic for the first time, everytime you saw a Hero fall, everytime you saw a hero redeem themselves.

For me even though I am Horde through and through, it will be the enchanted forest music in Nordrassil, I will always think of wow as the Story of Illidan Stormrage. Someone who was never perfect and was never always good, someone who made mistakes, but learned from them, someone who was seen as selfish, yet in the he saved us all through his selfless sacrifice, even if it was for his own intentions. For me it is clear, Illidan did not die. Just like the fight against Argus, I believe the Titans empower Illidan to subdue or Kill Sargeras, and then Illidan ascends to the rank of titanic himself.

This makes me think back to wow classic 2020. I was part of an alliance levelling guild on Zandalar Tribe EU called Nightdwalf Fanclub. We would fuck around in discord chatting, have beach parties in Stranglethorn Vale and dance off with the horde in the arena and outside of Org. Those memories back in 2020 will be with me forever and still to this day, they remain some of the most golden memories.

I wish Grizzly Hills really existed in real life. I'd so rent out a chalet' there, sipping on coffee on the wooden plank patio and get lost with this music, the scent of pine in the air and the rustling of the leaves and the water down below too. Don't get me started on being able to see the snowy mountains in the distance either..
