The Jailer and the whole of Shadowlands' lore is a retcon by itself to fill plotholes they've made with Sylvanas and do what the f they want with it. Almost no one liked it for good reasons.
It's a shame that scene (and the leaks leading up to the cinematic) was the peak of the entire expansion. They completely shat on Bolvar's development from before Shadowlands and killed off the Lich King for good. Most popular entity in WoW, gone just like that.

They know how to make good cinematics. There is no room for bias, greed or corruption in these things, unlike their games. What you get is pure epic awesomeness. Too bad they let their greed dictate their way in game making.
Battle for Azeroth is the epitome of this. They released a trailer about getting back to the good ole horde vs alliance like we've been wanting for years. Then switch baited us for the trash we did end up getting. Shadowlands cinematic being this good should've told me the game was going to be trash again.

I think the premise was bad in itself. The moment you show the "other side" you ruin it. Afterlife in games or any piece of media should always be a mystery imo. The Shadowlands btw is probably the worst afterlife I've seen in any media on top of that.

Warcraft devs definitely pulled a goodie by returning to one of the best villains and expansions in warcraft and pushing into a new one FROM it. He's been red since the expansion storyline and the dk storyline in legion showed he was slowly integrating to becoming the lich King fully, similar to arthas. The shift in pallet both ways in this is showing as bolvar, then the lich King, then as the crown is taken, bolvar again.

Crazy story, I first watched this cinematic in the hospital during a 2 1/2 month stay following major reconstructive surgery, and then proceeded to play the crap out of Shadowlands while undergoing over a year of rehabilitation. I contacted my old friends on WoW from the hospital bed and planned to jump back in, proceeding to make my way into a guild and end up defeating Sylvanas on mythic and get Cutting Edge!
At first I thought, Sylvanas changing her tone is strange when she says "The veil between life and death.", but it makes sense she pronounces "death" softly.
You could feel the hype just completely drain out of the room the very moment people started realizing Sylvanas was gonna win yet again with no repercussions, yet again. Look at the hype at the mere sight of Bolvar vs the confusion and "the fuck did I just watch" at the end. This cinematic was amazingly well made, let's not get it twisted. The story is just something different now, something (I believe) most people have no connection or interest in.
Yeah, they gave her so much plot armour it wasn't even fun anymore. How Bolvar didn't even scratch her. Honestly just a huge disrespect to the entire past lore of Warcraft and The Lich King

He was already a monster with frostmourne killing people like Uther and defeating legends like Illidan Stormrage THEN became Lich king. I still find it hilarious that between last year and this one, there have been _three_ "ShadowX" MMO expansions: Shadowlands, Shadowbringers, and Shadowkeep.
And somehow they managed to fck that one up to. With dragonflight it finally seems to go into the right direction. They finally seem to listen to their players again ( only took em about 6 expansions). They got miljoen of players with most of them in their 30’s. People with fulltime jobs and small kids. Little time to play. These were the people who played vanilla and tbc. But don’t have the time for the grind fest. If they play it smart they keep the game attractive and time consuming enough to keep it interested but not to much to give up on it. Their kids will grow up and dads and moms will introduce them into the the WoW. I for sure am gonna do. It’s the only way to keep the game alive

I'm from the future and i can confirm that although this expansion was decent and a step up from BFA it still doesnt compare to my favorite expansion "Azeroth vs the Swarm" which comes out 2032 (the Zerg swarm from starcraft 2 fail to take over the protoss and terran homeland so they travel to azeroth to conquer more primitive creatures)

I've watched reaction videos to this, and a lot of people don't realize how boss level Sylvanna is. At this point in time she was arguably the most power person on all of Azeroth. As the Banshee queen, she has all the same powers over the dead and undead that Arthas did, (remember she got her powers after he raised her), but she didn't need the crown of domination in order to do it, and where she was hopped up on power from Shadowlands, she was untoppable. If Arthas was the king of the undead, she would most certainly be the queen.
Man I loved this reveal, I'm kind of sad I didn't personally record it but I was up in this row not far from where you were when you did it! I could actually hear my Guild Master in the background when Sylvanas got hit with the chunk of ice.
I dont know any story of world of warcraft, i only watched it, how my cousin played it 10 years ago and played it not more than 3 hours . But this gives me chills. Looks very good. :D

When the sky shattered, I think that legitimately was one of the few times the community was caught off guard by blizzard.
Everyone knew the next expansion was called Shadowlands we just didn't know the amount of lazy that would come out of the plot line to get there.

almost an entire year later, i've watched this probably about 6 times and it still gives me chills every time. The cinematic team is magic.

You could feel the hype just completely drain out of the room the very moment people started realizing Sylvanas was gonna win yet again with no repercussions, yet again. Look at the hype at the mere sight of Bolvar vs the confusion and "the fuck did I just watch" at the end. This cinematic was amazingly well made, let's not get it twisted. The story is just something different now, something (I believe) most people have no connection or interest in.
Yeah, they gave her so much plot armour it wasn't even fun anymore. How Bolvar didn't even scratch her. Honestly just a huge disrespect to the entire past lore of Warcraft and The Lich King

quality of the expansion aside, this trailer is ridiculously cool. Sylvanas' lines and delivery are next level, and the soundtrack is unreal

@@cooller8888 only time will tell, 7 billion dollars and going strong if they're dead that must mean you probably don't exist. All of the changes they announced for shadowlands are promising. They're doing away with a lot of rng, going back to class identity. And not over complicating the game with yet another class.

Some people STILL don't realize that Arthas was on a completely different level as Lich King. He was already a monster with frostmourne killing people like Uther and defeating legends like Illidan Stormrage THEN became Lich king.
Bolvar did not have Frostmourne, wasn't nearly as strong as Arthas before becoming the new Lich king. Come on people it's simple ...

This expansion had the potential to be one the grest expansions in history.
And somehow they managed to fck that one up to. With dragonflight it finally seems to go into the right direction.
They finally seem to listen to their players again ( only took em about 6 expansions). They got miljoen of players with most of them in their 30’s. People with fulltime jobs and small kids. Little time to play. These were the people who played vanilla and tbc. But don’t have the time for the grind fest.
If they play it smart they keep the game attractive and time consuming enough to keep it interested but not to much to give up on it. Their kids will grow up and dads and moms will introduce them into the the WoW. I for sure am gonna do. It’s the only way to keep the game alive

I'm from the future and i can confirm that although this expansion was decent and a step up from BFA it still doesnt compare to my favorite expansion "Azeroth vs the Swarm" which comes out 2032 (the Zerg swarm from starcraft 2 fail to take over the protoss and terran homeland so they travel to azeroth to conquer more primitive creatures)

I've watched reaction videos to this, and a lot of people don't realize how boss level Sylvanna is. At this point in time she was arguably the most power person on all of Azeroth. As the Banshee queen, she has all the same powers over the dead and undead that Arthas did, (remember she got her powers after he raised her), but she didn't need the crown of domination in order to do it, and where she was hopped up on power from Shadowlands, she was untoppable. If Arthas was the king of the undead, she would most certainly be the queen.

Man I loved this reveal, I'm kind of sad I didn't personally record it but I was up in this row not far from where you were when you did it! I could actually hear my Guild Master in the background when Sylvanas got hit with the chunk of ice.
I dont know any story of world of warcraft, i only watched it, how my cousin played it 10 years ago and played it not more than 3 hours . But this gives me chills. Looks very good. :D
