- Last week I reviewed the new Scribbles that Matter Dual Tipped Brush Pens… in the comments of that video several of you pointed out that Ohuhu made a product that looked similar but was a little cheaper. I decided to order it and compare them to each other… detective time! Are they the same?

In the name of research, I managed to get the label off the bottom of the STM marker case, and there is nothing hidden under it.
Probably made by the same company, just different dye lots. Made at different times.
I bought some Ohuhu colored pencils from Amazon. I posted a review because about 6 of the pencils were jacked up. In some the lead was loose and fell out and in others the lead was crumbly so I couldn't sharpen them. I posted a review on Amazon. Ohuhu got back to me immediately, apologized for the quality control issue and sent me a whole new package of pencils and told me to keep the original. The new package they sent me was perfect.
Oh you were unlucky with the 1st package :/ But everything ended well for you and that's cool :) I have the Ohuhu 100 hundred set brush pens and I just love them :)

Soo... as soon as you pulled these out, I knew they looked familiar! I was gifted these Soucolor Art Markers (a 100 pack that came in a zippered black bag, on amazon) and although they have a gray barrel, they look exactly the same! I wish I could upload a picture to show you! Some have that metallic and translucent caps, some came dried and janky... I wonder how many different "brands" there are!
Lemouchet is another brand comes in a set of 100
I have the Ohuhu 100 hundred set and everything is fine with them. No dried out or broken brush pens. I just love them :)
I have been debating buying Scribbles That Matter brush pens since I'm still pretty new and they're MUCH cheaper than Tombows, so thank you for showing the colors and comparing them to Ohuhu (no idea how to pronounce it either lol). Also I wanted to say I love how conversational you are in your videos. I just found you last night and have watched 3 of your vids already and it feels like chatting with a friend or tutor who's super chill and seems personable.
Love the spongebob 6 hours later ... maybe the ohuhu are the rejects or if they got the dye lots were wrong. I went to school for fashion merchandising and we were taught a lot about manufacturing and how some need to subcontract out and when that happens a lot of time the dye lots get messed up. But thank you for your detective work !
It looks like the Ohuhu are factory seconds or the ones who didn't pass quality control.
By the way.... Even though it was tedious it was oddly satisfying watching you do this.
This is basically the same thing that happens in make up companies as well. Crown Brushes manufactures the shadows for Morphe who then just slap their own labels on them.
The STM pens look loike they have a hexagon inside the round cap on the brush end...the others were round inside the round cap. Random observation.
beaker 1632 yeah, I noticed that too and it kept bothering me, otherwise they are totally similar, but if they're made in the same factory, why the difference in caps?
I came cruising the comments to see if anyone else picked up on that. #OCDlife
The color difference could just be a batch/quality control issue, lol, I think they’re the same
Edit: The Ohuhu just should have gone with 40 colors since that’s all they give anyway.
I bought the 36-pack Tanmit dual markers (brush on one end and 0.4 fine tip marker on the other end) for $12.99 from Amazon. They also come in a 60-pack. I have the basic set of Tombow brights - 9 colors + 1 blender that cost more than this. To be honest I purchased the Tanmit set strictly for the price. Tombows are just too expensive for my budget. So far I am really liking them. None of mine were dried out, and they seem to be just as vibrant as my Tombows. Like yours, there's no color name or number on them, so I numbered them myself. Funny, my Tanmit brush pens look exactly like the ones shown in your video. Oh, and Tanmit is easier to say than Ohuhu (that made me laugh).

Ohuhu is a very cute brand from Hawaii. And they try so hard. I support them very much.

I'm so glad that you made this review. I know that these markers are pretty cheap but I feel like goes back to what I said in the Sharpie video. These companies really need to make better products for their consumers, it really shocked me that the Ohuhu had 4 1/2 stars but you mentioned that some of the markers were messed up or frayed. With Scribbles that Matter being such a big brand (I know you and a lot of people love their notebooks) you would think they'd put the time, money and resourses into making a good quality product that their customers would enjoy so Its really sad to see them outsoursing and using third party companies.

Could some of the differences in color maybe be ink dyelots or something? Either way, it’s pretty obvious they’re basically the same. Lol
Thanks for comparing! I'm looking to try some brush markers soon to start practicing brush lettering, would you recommend the STM ones over Pentel that you recommended for beginners in another video?
STM brush pens are not available on my Amazon anymore so I need to go with Ohuhu. Now my Question. Do you think starting to color with Ohuhu brush pens will prepare you for the more expensive ones like Tombow? I have quite a few Tombows but I'm still no professional in coloring and I don't want to waste them.

I find that with ohuhu some of the markers are gonna arrive to u dried up. The markers I ordered had about three dried out markers. They say that they will replace them but I had no luck with their Customer Service. ☹️

Love this review. STM recently admitted that they have bought in the markers... like most places do. I was thinking the odd STM pen that doesn't match. It's the signature colour that all the STM notebooks are first released in so I think that might be why it's included x

I'm pretty late on the uptake. I have the full set of tombow dual tip markers. IYO are they still the better ones to use?
As you started this video I thought, "I wonder if all the colors would match up? that would take too long to go through, tho." But thank you for being you for not only pairing them but comparing the ink. You answered all my curiosity. :)
Would you recommend these for bullet journaling or is the bleeding that bad that they can't be used.

I wonder what happened if you purchased a second set of scribbles that matter and matched the pens if the colors would write the same. I'm getting the strange feeling that they are just "random approximations" of the colors on the cap.
I think these are the same markers as mine but mine are branded as homecube markers
Some of the brushes are different for example with ohuh the brushes fryed up faster so wouldn't recommend those if ur looking for more good quality I recommend shuttle art but ohuhus more good quality is way better and copics
Me buying a 20 pack of fine liners for just the black bought it for 10 pounds realises I could of bought 20 fine liners that are black for 5 pounds

I have the Ohuhu markers, and while I haven't had them long enough to test their longevity, they all were in fine condition and I got zero duplicates. I will say however when swatching, a couple of the markers didn't match the caps well (by more than just a little bit.) Not sure if this was a manufacturing error, because for instance I had two pink markers that shouldn't have looked similar at all, but might as well have been the same pen. All in all, for $20 they're a decent set of markers for what I need them for. I do hate that there are no colors names or numbers though.
Maybe the Ohuhu is the reject markers from the Scribbles that matter batches. I'm guessing but why not sell the product slightly cheaper if they "work"?

I think the factories would take the ones they can’t sell to their contracted vendors, like the batches before new ink, older stock etc, and sell them at a lower price, or mark them as an off-brand. Maybe they are drier or crappier because they didn’t pass STM standards, so someone else took them to sell
I would feel ripped off by STM. That Was so exhausting. You are a trooper! Crazy! neither really worth the money....

Nice nail polish! So mad at my Barnes & Noble. They add pens to the store but not good ones. Lamy BALL POINT in Pink for $35? And they wonder why it won't sell.(They put in in the corner by the register for fear of stealing with no signage.)
Are they really in the dark? (The need to hire someone who knows the trends) And mad there is a LT1917 5 year edition and you can only get it from Australia for a good price but $33 shipping! ( I had red wine so extra agitated!)
Kaye Reshaw, I was just at B&N last night and looked at the Lamy fountain pens near the register and was surprised at how light and cheap feeling they were considering the price tag. They felt more like $5-$10. Although I'm no expert on fountain pens, they felt exactly the same as the cheap calligraphy fountain pen set I got as a kid. I want to say it was made by crayola or something.
