- TheCGBros Presents "The JockStrap Raiders" by Mark Nelson - Check out this hilariously funny Student Academy Award-winning, animated short film called "The Jockstrap Raiders" created by the talented Mark Nelson! The Jockstrap Raiders is an animated short film about a group of misfits during World War I. It takes place in Leeds, England where our heroes are all excluded from the war due to various abnormalities. Threatened by the invading German Kaiser and his army, they must learn to become a team and overcome their deficiencies in order to save Britain and the world.
Completed at UCLA, it is Mark Nelson's MFA thesis project. The short has won many awards, including the Student Academy Award; Best Animation, British Animation Festival; Best Animation Macon Film Festival; Best Narrative Short GI Film Festival; and Audience Award Orlando Film Festival. As one of the last surviving jockstrap raiders I can confirm that this historical depiction of the events is very accurate down to the most minuscule detail, the battle scene gave me flashbacks to when me and the boys single handedly defeated the German army. Good times

I love when they shoot the propellor off. It’s a good representation of early fighter planes before they had a timing system to prevent that. I also love the amount of out of context moments included.

I laughed, I cried, I was so captivated. This should be a 1hr epic. It was just purely brilliant. I loved watching it. Truly and totally enjoyable.
I, too, would give a lot to watch the full length version of this. The main thing is that the concentration and quality of jokes should not change, otherwise it would be a big disappointment.

In the 1960s TV animated series “Stop The Pigeon” a kookie mechanic named Klunk came up with all sorts of questionable flying machines that defied basic mechanics and engineering but he would be proud of the airplanes these guys came up with!!

10/10 Because this animated short shows an important lesson. That is even though some of us are deformed and have disabilities, we can use them to our advantage, and never give up.

The Germans never had that much tanks they would use in battle. In fact, they never had British style tanks. The ones shown were either British Mark IVs or something similar. The Germans only had 20 tanks of their own model by 1917.
Actually they captured around 200 British tanks in running condition

Somebody had a lot of fun creating and making this, and it shows. Forget all the anachronisms - they are no worse that Hollywood films like 'Flyboys and similar. My compliments on the accuracy of the German equipment, and the wondrous Rowland Emmett creations of the forlorn-hope squadron. Just lovely.

The real Red Baron was named Manfred Von Richtofen. He was also blonde and without facial hair. He shot down over 80 enemy aircraft and was shot down and killed in 1918.
