There are aspects of the old days that really were good. One of them was the concept of a public transport ticket, rather than these cards which have to be purchased above the cost of the ticket. Sigh! Thank you for the video!

I "think" that you can get the card deposit back when finished with it. Our guide was a little confusing but when we returned to Hotel Sultania, guest relations offered us $6 USD until we explained that the card was theirs, on loan only. 🤣 The card is super convenient though Daniel and I think worth the money even if you don't get the deposit back.

@@SheilaSimkin And it is a nice remembrance. I kept my London Oyster Card, even though i had the option of a refund!

Very good information on using the card. I didn't know two people could use the same card. So good to know. Thanks for such a helpful, useful video !!!!

As many people as you want can use the card, Chip. Just do like we did. One person goes through, turn around and hand the card to the next person. The number of people is only limited by whatever money you loaded. I'm glad the video was helpful because our guide was a little confusing at time. I still think that there is an option to change languages though he said no.

@@SheilaSimkin Your guide unknowingly gave you false information. Of course, Istanbulkart TL loading machines have the option to change the language.

@@mrtozcan50 Thanks so much for confirming what I thought is true. When we visited years ago and used the card (on video at end of this one), I was positive there were language choices. Based on your reply, I just added that info into the video description. Thanks gazillion! Best to you, Sheila 😍

Thanks for another helpful video. I have always found Turkish people to be friendly and helpful, especially in Istanbul. What is your favourite part of that city?

I would have to say the Sirkeci area. It's walking distance to main sights, water and filled with a gazillion restaurants. What about you? What is your favorite part, Simon? 🤔

@@SheilaSimkin I like Sirkechi, but my favourite part is Taksin - mainly due to its walkability and ease of access to everywhere else in the city. There’s also a wonderful poetry cafe there that I visit every time I’m in the city. It’s actually run by a British Turkish couple. It’s a place of great fusion.

I had no idea you can both use the same Transit Istanbul card.

I hope you don't mind if I repeat what I just mentioned to Chip. "As many people as you want can use the card. Just do like we did. One person goes through, turn around and hand the card to the next person. The number of people is only limited by whatever money you loaded." And thanks so much for your view and time to comment. Hope you are well and best regards, Sheila 😍
