@@Viewer13128 but it kind of still misses the point. She doesn't increase the ceiling of the meta. Instead she raises the floor on a lot of characters making them viable in the hardest content. Hoyo said the goal was to open up more viable teams and playstyles. They did that.
It's fine if you don't care about that, but honestly, if you have the current meta teams and Hoyo doesn't do some serious nerfing, you never need to pull for anyone ever again.
I can easily put together 6+ team combos that can clear the abyss without issue. At the point, I just want fun ways to switch it up.

@@notmo. I don't know what's worse, the "[insert thing here] CHANGES EVERYTHING" stuff, or the "[insert thing here] IS WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT" stuff. Both are pretty bad, and when I watched this video it gave me the same vibes as his initial review of Yaoyao (who's honestly way stronger than he thought), which is to say: a little sussed out.
I'd recommend going to do your own research on Xianyun and whether or not she adds value to your account using your own data. She might be exactly what you need, or she might be a luxury pull (like me with Shenhe/Ganyu). Either way, it's up to you.
If people spend money to pull on a glorified plunge attack enabler, no quality changes will come to genshin.

It's so funny looking back on this now that people realize Xianyun is good. It's hilarious how this guy lacks an understanding of the current meta due to barely playing the game (why he's still stuck on the Hyperbloom is more OP than literally everything else besides Neuvilette take), spends maybe a mere 30-40 minutes while live on his Twitch stream testing the new character, then rushes out these half-assed videos day 1 for the sake of the TH-cam algorithm... All the while throwing shade at other content creators because apparently he's the only one being "honest" (despite many other guide creators out there who far spend more time trying to put out higher quality information) and acting like other content creators are purposely lying to hype up the character (from the latest HSR media server drama, we can clearly see that this whole forced positivity shill for Hoyoverse nonsense narrative that Tectone/Mtashed try to push doesn't hold any water, sponsored creators can say negative things about the characters but can't just start outright slandering).
He did the same with his "CHIORI Feels like a 5-star GEO XINYAN TIER CHARACTER" video (this is just disingenuous clickbait nonsense as she is nowhere close to being that bad). He also did the same with his "horribly downvoted day 1 Furina video where again, he spent a mere ~30 minutes on his Twitch stream with her (I was there), had a garbage Tenacity set for her instead of a proper Golden Troupe set for her (because he barely plays the game and didn't farm lmao), didn't mention or understand her interactions with Marechausse Hunter, heavily downplayed her personal damage due to his garbage set, did very limited team comp testing and didn't even explore many of her good team options and synergies with other characters, and then got mad when people criticized him for it, attributing it to just a bunch of delusional Furina/Genshin stans that can't take criticism of their character. How can you expect people to take your opinions seriously when you can't even be bothered to do your due diligence to get a full grasp on the character you are covering and then get mad when they don't?
Obviously anyone like that who is harassing/insulting him because they feel offended over a fictional character is lame and needs to go outside (there are definitely some, this IS the Genshin community we're talking about), but at the same time bro needs a reality check. Either put proper effort into making your guides/first impression videos like plenty of other CCs that I could name, or don't complain when you inevitably get criticized for being bad at your job and putting out bad information. And no, while the lack of access to the Genshin media server that other CCS can access is a disadvantage, it isn't an all encompassing excuse. Leaked character kits are known for a whole 6 weeks before the character drops and you can just delve into theorycrafting spaces yourself to learn or closely consult those who do so to get more accurate impressions. I don't see Zajef suffering from a lack of success despite not having access to test characters until release date due to his decision to cover leaks....but Mtashed doesn't do so because that would take more effort to help him stand out from the competition.
I used to give Mtashed the benefit of the doubt cause he honestly seems like a mature, down to earth guy outside of his Genshin meltdowns, but with his constant bad takes and his never ending "I'm quitting" shtick that he's continuing once again for the hundredth time with Acheron in HSR, I just can't take him seriously anymore. I'll just keep enjoying the clown show I guess.

I find her kinda cool as a veteran player, because she opens some fun teams and playstile. I have all core units to 36 the abyss under 1h every two weeks so I do not care if she is meta or not.

@@moonykash I get that she's not as account defining as someone like Kazuha or Nahida, but I think she could actually be a high value pull for a newer player; she can enable a lot of characters to become a strong DPS and when your account doesn't have a lot of those, that can be pretty valuable. Lots of new players are using Noelle, Chongyun, Razer, etc. and she makes them much more viable for harder content. Lots of the best characters require a pretty strict team comps that a new player may not have.
So I got cloud retainer, but I already have so many dps characters and I wanted to spice it up with a new character that looked goofy. DEFINITELY not as nuts as people are saying but she's still fun. And that's what players need to understand, she's FUN not GAMEBREAKING
She enables a bunch of fun stuff but she isn't broken and to be honest I don't think she needs to be either. If anything she could be future proof if they release some insane plunge dps at some point.
Even if she's not op, I like the fact that Hoyo is bringing new characters to establish new play styles and make older long forgotten characters stronger.
Same! Opening up new play styles is definitely a welcome addition, and she looks very nice! This is better than getting constant powercreep, and still gives value to getting old characters, especially when you have favourites.
Man abyss is not even the 1% of the overall game, idk why people bother tagging Big DMG character or supporter as OP character. I would rather pull xianyun than furina or kazuha cause she brings new playstyle.
@@Arashish17Abyss for veteran players is almost 80% of the genshin impact. You sre right about playstyle though. Peiple should pull for the characters whose playstyle they enjoy since almost every character can 36 star the abyss. But wrong of you to assume that only Xianyun introduces a new playstyle. Furina literally cured tge curse of circle impact. People are finally freed from the tyranny of benny boy because of her. Not to mention she gives the biggest buff in the game without needing to do crazy setups.
And also maybe it's the start of plunging damage dealers and we might get someone in the future who's really good with cloud retainer. They can't stay with bloom and hyper bloom forever and things change with time. Maybe no reaction is gonna be better than the dendro ones but the change is inevitable and there will be things that are equally good as dendro reaction if not better.

completely unhinged take. the versatility that cloud retainer has and the team comps she opens up makes her incredibly good, not to mention the overworld mobility that she provides. plunge is FUN + very strong and she enables characters that really couldn't be a dps and had mid teams in the past to clear with relatively low investment, also she heals. what else can you ask for in a character.

I may have missed some more.
I'd be really happy to see buffs to older characters in the form of a new endgame evolution/transformation. Perhaps mid combat awakened forms, and new challenging combatants to take advantage of these. I also wouldn't mind Hoyo adding mounts into the game, allowing us to buy them or slowly unlock them over time. Some randomized dungeons that players can slowly grind daily quest levels of primo's each week would be great and test the speed/power of their hard-earned teams. More voice acting on quests other than main storyline, it wont break the bank, and the word salads/paragraphs of text in side quests make skipping them the only sane option.
Genshin is not a game where you pull for god tier units because there's nothing to worry about to begin with, Cloud Disclaimer is as good as the next 5 star. Also, nobody who respects themselves plays Genshin anymore nor should you pull or spend money, at least until Hoyo acts like they give a fuck about their player base.

Xianyun is not meant to break the meta , she's meant to create new fun playstyle that can still be competitive when it comes to end game content , and just because we have strong 4 star teams doesn't mean a 5 stars characters are not worth it , you can easily clear with a 4 star hyperbloom team and ppl still pulls for nahida , xiangling is an amazing free pyro dps and ppl still pulls for hutao and lyney .. the most important thing in this game is if you find a unite fun or not

As a day one player I have the luxury to choose characters for different reasons. And I choose her as a flexible teamwide anemo healer that makes overworld movements more convenient
and that's ok, what's not ok is youtubers calling broken and must pull at every new character hoyolame release.
Amen same, My jean works out just fine on my Furina, Hutao team but Xianyun makes it fun and new because of the plunge and her skill for exploration. Sure that team can beat the Ab content but it ain't that fun. I need something fresh every two months
Sayu can heal, VV shred, and speeds up map movement too. Just recently got a top tier FTP greatsword in an event as well.
As a massive Clown Retainer simp, I can tell you she's fun and definitely has potential to be crazy in the future if they add more high plunge attack scaling characters, but right now she's just okay. She is not a must pull by any means. Don't feel bad for skipping her, and don't feel bad for pulling her.
I would definitely classify her as a niche meme character. Not as niche or as meme as say something like Shenhe/Chongyun (lmao) but a niche meme nonetheless. She enables a few teams and improves a few teams but nothing major. If you're one-shotting floor 12 of abyss blindfolded with one hand behind your back, there's no reason to feel bad about pulling her. If you're struggling to beat floor 10, she's going to do exceptionally little to help your account outside of overworld exploration.
Honestly after everything I seen with her. Unless you find her hot or plan on using her in specific teams ( like with xiao ) there’s no damn reason to even bother getting her. But then again at the end of the day…the game is easy.
Her with c6 Bennet and xingqiu makes most characters pretty strong so that's not true, quite the contrary in fact. Not to mention anemo full party healer so furina owners stay winning

THANK YOU for confirming what I've been feeling with her. She's cool, flamboyant, does awesome with the new plunge attack for everyone thing. But after trying her out in the trial just didn't do it right for me.
Was deciding on between her or Yae Miko. Left it to the RnG god to decide for me, and glad I lost to Mona C1. So yeah, maybe next time Xianyun, gonna get my Yae Miko next phase.

If you are new to the game just get nahida. Xianyun is basically a premium unit for characters like hutao, xiao, klee, etc... A big but non needed dps increase (see it as getting a shenhe for your dps cryo unit).
She might see even more light in the future but rn If you don't like plunging she's def not worth it.

One of my major gripes is the stinginess and forced scarcity tactics. The game is pumping out all these characters and to level them up to high levels you need a lot of scarce resin AND time-gated materials. Some materials can only be collected once a week. It would be fun to try some characters out but you have to go through this whole process...and that doesn't even account for the artifacts.
Im just mad that the moment i opened hoyolab and saw like 20 posts of people getting xianyun and some even c6ing her makes me have no hope for this "boycot"

Honestly this could be a cool series going forward as a kind of "before you buy" to all the new charecters in genshin because with it being in all the content creators best interest to hype up interest it would be cool to have a high quality opposing end where you try and get people to save there primos
You make some good points, but I think what's missing from this take is what she can do while also healing, freeing up party slots and allowing players to make some teams feel a lot more comfortable. The meme comps are fun to watch but are not better than how most of the characters are intended to play.
I love Mtashed and his guides BUT, he always gives advice for new players while other creators advice for veteran players aswell (like myself) I dont need any other characters because I have most of the other meta characters, I just need fun characters and ones that enables units that are old and not very much used. So, I’ve been thinking of pulling her, but I’ve been waiting to see the initial response to her. My account only has two 5*s currently. Xiao and Kazuha. When I heard she would be Xiao’s support, I was very excited, because I still use him as my main dps. But running him with a battery and a healer and all this stuff is annoying sometimes. So I haven’t been sure. Ive also been strongly considering pulling for nahida, cuz I’ve heard of how good she is, and I only have one other dendro unit rn, but I don’t know if I have good units to run with her.

I'm totally here for the unhinged 'call out the theorycrafters' era. As someone who also enjoys videos from theorycrafters like Zajef, it's just nice and fun to get your counter perspective as well. Seems really important to remember that there's very little powercreep in the game, so even if Xianyun is good there's so many other options that are also good or better.

I think Showcases should try and use the same level artifacts across all content creator accounts, because a lot of FtP clears or showcases just use crazy artifacts which make them look stronger than what most people would get.

I think Xianyun's pretty okay not amazing not bad but more of a fun/luxury unit or sidegrade but knowing how the playerbase generally is, fun mechanic + big screenshot damage numbers is gonna get a lot o people. I've pulled back from discussions too mostly because of how glorified "the calcs" and numbers can get while most of the other less easily measurable factors where usually dropped from discussions.

I agree, having a new playstyle/ having older units become more usable is more fun and she is more then abyss viable with the buffs she gives. My abyss teams have been the same for a long time now, so it is nice to have a change and go back to my older units. She is not for everyone but she is far from trash.

I honestly just used my guarantee to get Nahida's second constellation. Adds more value to my Dendro teams and account overall. Was at 53 pity and had to go all the way up to 80 pity(again), but I got her. Now I'm saving up for Chlorinde or a rerun that I want.
I'm glad I pulled for her. She's saved me countless times trying to get through world level 3 through the main quests. I love her main flying ability so she gets away from some of the big attacks briefly to plunge down at the enemy, and it can be used for gaining some height for climbing etc. She's a good character, really.

one thing mtashed fails to realise about cloud retainer is that she's pretty much exactly like shenhe but for plunging in general instead of just cryo and ca's. she basically replaces shenhe's elemental buff with a heal over time that synergises with both the character she was made to support, xiao, and one of, if not, the best in slot support for the team, furina. filling the slots of a pseudo battery, healer and damage buffer in 1 slot is extremely valuable when going for this playstyle, but it's completely understandable if constantly plunging isn't your playstyle. take bennett in international for example. he helps xiangling by generating pyro particles, increases the team's damage with his ult + noblesse and heals the active character. she also enables the plunge playstyle for other teams while supporting it if anyone is interested in experimenting, so there's that too.

Incorrect, because he talked about Neuvillete which he said was "Busted, deserving of the hype and praise because of his powercreep, and quality of life (just standing there and pressing charge attacks instead of doing dash cancels for after plunge). There were many variables mentioned not just "I can clear just as fast as Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennett, therefore she does not give me any value" and according to his word usage "I cannot in my right mind recommend this to new players" (which most likely do not have a lot of the old characters) his target audience for this advice/ video were the newer players who doesn't not spend a lot in the game.
I think i should pull Nahida cause if i lose 5050 and get jean in future, i wont regret not having cloud retainer.

what makes her not for new players though? She's pretty good, and even with barely any investment I got her to hit like 5-7k which is more than enough for a new player with low level enemies. There's no downsides to this character other than an energy problem. She's not bad for new players, hell i'd say she's perfect for new players.

She is still crazy open world. I got all the tp of the new area with her and even if her e doesn't work in the air (and it should), taking an anemo slot that heals, makes gliding faster and has a good mobility ability makes her awesome open world.

I get the concern about powercreep, but the more mid units are added to this game, the harder it is for new players to get the most meta units. It can be pretty discouraging to not have Xingqiu and Bennett or not have Nahida, Yelan, Kazuha, etc. Or have Furina but no decent teamwide healer to pair with her.
As a new player, you have to either settle for pulling and building off meta units or be patient enough to save for several months. You don't need meta to clear Spiral Abyss sure, but it still feels bad when you're stuck with non optimal units, especially if you don't particularly like them.
HSR has skirted this problem by not being afraid of some modest powercreep while still making sure the limited DPSs are fairly close to each other in strength. Dr. Ratio might be worse than Jingliu overall but the difference is very minor compared to difference between Xianyun and Kazuha, Nahida, etc.
HSR have really bad powercreeping in that game. That's why their give Dr. Ratio since powercreeping exist in HSR.
