Thank you Lowko for this slightly unusual yet funny series between these 2 Korean Pros ; Since you were talking about it, I don't think ghosts need nerfs : my guess though would be MAYBE snipe no longer doing bonus to psionic, and no longer ignoring armor, perhaps.... other than that the unit is balanced imo !
I'm always surprised that the pros don't seem to get blue flame more often. The third game would have seemed ideal, really boosting the power of a hellbat drop.
I really like your videos & your commentary of them Lowko. GuMiho is one of the most creative Pro players out there willing to test new build orders vs the best pro players. He should be commended for trying these different builds, not condemed. The game evolves from players like him testing boundries, not from those that follow the same known successful safe build sequences of each race. ^^
Lowko, game 2 is exemplary of why terrans are leaving the ghosts at home; and it's not to flex or avoid ghost nerfs. It must be frustrating to play against ghosts when they can kill all of your best stuff - but imagine the cost of using them. They're a lot like carriers and motherships in that they create this massive liability which the terran really has to babysit, because one good fungal or flank can decimate the Terran's whole army. Using them introduces the constant specter of suddenly yielding winning initiative over to playing desperate damage control - and it's basically because it is very difficult for each ghost to pay for itself before it dies, as they are quite vulnerable when engaging. Meanwhile, arguably the greatest strength of marines is how disposable they are. Losing a huge division or strike group is hardly a setback at all. It is VERY easy for a marine supported by medivacs to pay off its principal investment cost in kills, and then continue accruing bonus value. Massing them means broader map control and more flexibility than when committing big supply to ghosts. They are easily the game's strongest attrition warfare unit, and they probably deserve a rebalance more than ghosts because of it. Mixing in 4 to 6 ghosts to help the marines break lurker positions with greater efficiency would probably be an ideal army composition, but the pros currently seem to think they either need 15+ ghosts supported by a bizarre smorgasbord of other costly, vulnerable, and not-easily-replaced terran units, or 0 of them. Mass marine keeps working. I think the real mystery is why they keep trying anything else.
Because mass marines actually doesn't work above Plat lol. Its funny how balance whiners have selective blindness - Gumiho built up to unit comp with 5 different units. Its no mystery that he wouldn't have to make Ghosts considering Solar had such bad map awareness his hatches kept getting sniped. The supply and production throughout show a slow death animation.
@@hivetech4903You don't get it, the zerg went to lurkers!!! And you dare fight that without ghosts!? Lmao at zergs thinking like this. @@hivetech4903 But that's exactly what I am trying to say; bronze zergs seethe thinking that the "only" way to fight lurkers is to use ghosts which is evidently wrong. That being said, a small set of ghosts (like 3-4) would help
@@hivetech4903 I must not understand your comment. Are you saying Solar is Plat teir? Are you aware that Clem bodied Serral 4-0 using mass marine with 6-figure prizes on the line?
16:40 the marauder runnnig and the spines missing, I mentioned this a long time ago, its the weakness of auto targeting of the lurker, so you send in a unit like the maruader higher hp to kite hte spines, and hten stim in marines and a scan and quickly take out hte lurkers bvefore your oppoenent can manaully select... Battlecruisers have a better sniping option against zerg every x second and if pulled in can warp out... so they can be a viable unit.. but wit h12 supply count for two, about all yo ucan use if you go battle cruiser as a utility unit, for sniping vipers, lurkers and heavy D to ultras...
"Don't you hate it when you accidentally win" Most common instance of that for me is my opponent auto-leaving. Btw those guys are much easier smurfs to prove than anyone you lose to. If someone auto leaves check their match history. 8 losses in less than an hour after a long winning streak? Before that it's another long losing streak and before that another long winning streak? That's a smurf. Report them. Anyways, back to the vod.
I would have infackt hate that the janky BC rush would had worked on a pro game. Though the 5--7 queens is at this point menditory to spawn, a BC rush aganst zerg is still a hellish deed!
wrt win rates: T pick this map when they can so they can beat stronger Zs, so 50/50 is actually imbalanced, same as if Z picked some map all the time and weaker Z has 50/50 chance against stronger T.
The fact pro Terran players not going to Ghost transition could actually backfire on them. If they show they can win without Ghosts, then Ghost becomes somewhat unnecessary unit ad it will definitely got nerfed. A tip for pro players (if they actually read comments): Just play the frickin' Ghosts goddammit.
That makes no sense... BC is like a Banshee or Raven opening build, its harass that comes before committing to Bio or Mech. Also Maru does them on occasion... so there's that.
Everyone: "Ghosts are too op, they need to be nerfed." Terrans: "But Terran NEEDS ghosts to win in the lategame, if they get nerfed Terran can't win." Terran proceeds to win in the lategame without ghosts. Guess what really needs a nerf is the marine, then... Terran proceeds to win the next game without producing a single marine. ಠ_ಠ (im joking...mostly. I know in the last game Solar severely misplayed)
What has to get nerfed for terrans is detection and sight. They've got too much of it, and it's too good. Sensor towers, ravens, and if that fails, they can just point and click where they want to see _everything,_ and as their opponent, you can do absolutely nothing about it. Terrans have to finally begin to need to scout.
@@aaronkerrigan241 The only source Blizzard uses for balance is aligulac because one or two premiere tournaments doesn't have nearly enough data: Tournament level balance stats: PvT: 56% (Protoss favored), so correct to say Terran is not IMBA.
