    Hi Nuggies! Here's my first attempt at a TH-cam video. ✨
    Hope I did well, but I appreciate any feedback and suggestions for future videos! I think I'll mostly keep videos pretty short because I'm new at editing so I'm just getting the hang of it.
    Thanks for watching and let me know what you'd like to see next!

    Honestly, this advice can be applied to any content creator. Your social media presence reflects a part of you, just like your content. If you post nothing but depressing commentary about your life, or if you constantly spew hate comments, your community will eventually think you're unhinged and mentally unstable. Of course, it is actually important to be honest with your viewers, especially when things are getting serious, but do it too much and you alienate everyone.

      It can be hard to find that balance between showing our human side, flaws and all, without coming across as too negative. Hopefully this video helps people be more aware of what they’re posting before they post it.

    Thats why private accounts are very essential to VTubers to separate Professional and Personal details

    This was really well done. I agree that the hypocrisy that some VTubers do when it comes to this is absurd and hurts them more than helps them grow.

    • @Cosmic_Tori
      @Cosmic_Tori  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand that they may not have a proper place to vent other than their VTuber Twitter but that’s why it’s important to have a proper support network you can rely on. This shouldn’t be their community’s burden to carry.

    You and @koziitwo have both been commenting with great clarity and cander about this side of your business.
    Honestly, it reminds me of the wrestling concept of Kayfabe. Even now, when feds are less draconian about forcing talents to stay in character... I've watched some wrestlers do great things by letting a little personal truth through the character. I've also seen quite a few set back or destroy their carreers by not setting a boundry. Sometimes, the wrestler fits both descriptions. I'm starting to see this with vtubers and their fans.
    We all need to remember, a boundry is a human concept. Until you draw it, all you have is a place where two aspects of your life start to blend into each other.

    Being professional is a good thing, but you also need a good personality too. So people will feel more interested and stick around more.

    I feel like this can relate very much to Vtweeter. Especially those who complain about anemic growth. It's like "Well golly gee willickers, friendo! You're not being very approachable, why would you expect different results? You're being relatable to a niche group of people and they're too busy also doing what you're doing so they're not noticing you. While it could be helpful to pull you all together in a drum circle to pound out your complaints most people, myself included, are looking for something different than what you are offering. Narcissism is a turn-off, friendo, stop it. Get some help."
    But how to reach them? I don't think there's a way to get them out of their own head, but there probably is one.

    Underrated advice. Your community should not be your personal venting platform. Not only is this potentially encouraging super parasocial white knight behavior, but you as a content creator, are actively setting an example for the people that follow you. You might end up attracting a crowd of miserable people that are only interesting in trauma dumping. It sounds harsh, but at the end of the day, as a content creator, you are entertainment.

    I have no knowledge about Twitter, because honestly I try to avoid all that social media shit...
    But I DO think "Reverse Parasocialism" is a thing. I think there are Vtubers (and streamers in general for that matter) who think their viewers do/should care about them more personally than they actually do.
    There is a perception held by some people that your viewers should love you enough to stick with you through the touch times. When in actuality they are there to be entertained. If the quality of your content goes down, they will leave. It's as simple as that.

    • @Cosmic_Tori
      @Cosmic_Tori  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Perhaps this is a topic I should discuss more in the future as there are many ways a streamer can become “reverse parasocial” towards their viewers. 🤔

  • @TamaoSuzumi27
    @TamaoSuzumi27 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Yay, Tori!! ^-^ And yeah, I agree with ya ^^ This is for real a tough topic, since it can definitely be so tempting to vent on social media, to not keep bad feelings bottled up and such. But, on the flip side, I find that venting in such a way can end up making the person venting feel worse overall anyway, so it can end up being a lose-lose ^^; Not saying that’s always the case of course, but my personal experiences usually involve me still dwelling too much on the problems after trying to release them, rather than my complaining bringing me comfort, if that makes sense? 😅
    Hm, and I’m not the best with ideas, especially with video content creation, but really just hearing your thoughts and outlook on any Vtubing topic such as this would be interesting! ^^ Other random ideas I have are maybe doing like a short weekly/monthly recap or run-down of your streams! Like, either your thoughts on the games or activities that took place, or favorite moments you may have had from any streams! 🤗 Or favorite Assassin’s Creed stabby-stabby of the month, whatever works! 😈
    (And then a purely bonus/niche idea, maybe hide a random Tori-verse recolored model somewhere in your videos for the viewers to track down, as a fun Easter egg of sorts! :0)
    But yeah, either way, keep up the great work!~ 💖

    • @Cosmic_Tori
      @Cosmic_Tori  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much, Tamao! These are great ideas!
      Also I agree, it's really hard when you can have so many negative feelings bottled up, specially because VTubing can be so stressful and lead to many negative emotions. That's why it's so important to have a great support network you can count on; be it friends, loved ones or professional help.

    I'm surprised this might be considered a hot take. I'm not really active in the twitter-sphere at all, but personally it's a no brainer to keep personal feelings as far removed from online interaction when doing content creation, and I think more people need to try to understand that to save themselves both the mental strain and emotional heartbreak that comes with trusting your feelings to complete strangers online.

    Personally, I also don't like when vtubers complain about their problems a lot. But I think that there are people who want their content creators to be more open about their lives. So, I think that vtubers will also find their audience.

    I think a big thing with mentioning difficult topics is intent, if you mention trauma for sympathy it can very quickly become overwelming to some people if the expectation wasnt set (like a video on mental health obviously you are more likely to expect that kind of thing) but mentioning an experience that was traumatic but you arent presently dealing with for comedy or because it was relevant to a story works better
    It becomes difficult sometimes when context isn't taken into account and people think you are looking for sympathy when you are just bringing up relevant info, my childhood was pretty bad but Im doing wonderful now, but bringing up stories can mke people think Im fishing for sympathy
    TLDR is setting the expectations for how much truama will be involved in a stream/video is usefiul, if its something you've had time to process its good to let people know you don't want to make the trauma a topic to stay on for a while or if you do want to be able to have a place to talk about things its better to label that so people can be mentally ready, so if you still want to talk about it with them maybe have a dedicated rant and vent alt or channel in discord so they know to expect serious subjects
    Of course this is short video so it cant go into many specifics, this is basically a ramble which hopefully helps
    I'm a bit of a wordy bastard but I do hope that I across the idea well enough

    Ok im not a vtuber and I did a couple of videos latelly explaining my struggles ... Some people supported me some people did not, I was desperate for information... In the end well like always xD I got called all names but the reason why is much healthier to jsut have fun instead of the grind is simple. Because the grind sucks, like for example im plenty sure youtube recommended me your video because I might have seen a similar video in the past... xD So yeah.... we viewers come and go randomly. But then the channels I am suscribed I dont see them often on my feed. Which sucks.

  • @Wyrdwad
    @Wyrdwad 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree with you to an extent, but I think your advice may take things a bit too far. I don't like social media accounts that just exist to trauma-dump, and I think vtubers who do that are definitely shooting themselves in the foot. But on the flipside, if a vtuber's social media accounts are purely professional and don't include any personal anecdotes or little peeks behind the curtain that help show who they are as human beings... I'm probably NOT going to follow those accounts! A purely professional account that just includes schedules or stream links or what-not is, frankly, kind of boring and impersonal, and there's not really any value in following it -- especially if you already follow that vtuber on TH-cam or Twitch, since the information will likely be duplicated in their own streams.
    So while I think it's important not to be too negative and self-deprecating, I also think being a bit personal and quirky in one's social media accounts (just, positive rather than negative) is VERY important to leaving a lasting impact on your viewers and growing your audience.

    I think saying "That's very parasocial" makes 0 sense in a hobby where parasocialism is how people make their money and why fans watch this instead of other, similar types of content.
