    This is the first time I realize that Bill actually has a body and is not just a pair of floating hands with a camera.

    Easily the most interesting lock I've seen so far. Great design by Tyler. I don't know how he got that threading, but it looks to be pretty effective.

  • @MW-jm8qb
    @MW-jm8qb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with and was thinking the same thing Travis Schmidt was. The whole purpose of the, "F ACE" lock was to utilize the highly reflective surface to allow us to see Bill's face even though bill may have intended to film from beginning to end without exposing his face. Quite ingenious I must say my dear Watson...

    Hi Bill! I really really like you that you have been starting to tell us more about what you're feeling inside what you doing in No. 6 that's got your false set 👍🏻🕉 you're describing what do you feel during your picking, help's me out a lot learning a lot improving my own techniques 👌🏻
    Keep describe your feel when picking, and what have to do about that stinkin spool in the back. 🐛

    Just now, my first lockpicks and training lock arrived in the mail. I'll have to say picking the lock was a breeze. I used a half-diamond and a short hook and it was open. I even racked it and it opened just like that. Aside from the racking, trying to feel the pins and picking the right one is really satisfying. Thanks for getting me into the hobby, bill.

      I believe if he makes a video and he feels its too long when he opens it he will remake it and usually after that practice he can get it down about under 10 min.

    • @GrumpyFelo
      @GrumpyFelo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kekejojo1212 i just want to see him struggle a little more, i like to see that this pinning/countermilling/ treading , etc are taking some effect you know because is like you see it finished under 10 mins doesnt matter what pinning is there, if he taking more, just fast forward it with the music. I just like to see that all this work on the core would actually delay it some, but i guess 10 mins is long enough when you open a master lock in like 10 secs or with a bone, lockstrap, etc. Fyi, i see this videos as entertaining and curiosity, i have never try to lockpick a lock before.

    Superb pinning

  • @WestCoastPicks
    @WestCoastPicks 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video, nice lock! The key pins cannot stop the core from "flopping around" as they are not in the shear line unless you've over set your lock. Then it wouldn't matter cause you've over set the lock. Same as Spooled key pins, the only way for you to drop in to a spooled key pin is to over set your pins. Then it would be pointless, as the lock is now over set. You would do better filling that space with serrations.
    Try pinning up a lock with all standard and 1 spooled key pin. And all standard drivers. There is Zero difference. The spooled key pin has no feedback, at most, it might act as a serration if your chamber is threaded.
    Also try pinning up a lock with all spooled key pins, see if it has more "flopping around". It won't.
    The key pins are below the shear line, if they weren't, no key could open the lock. Spools for key pins make no difference to the floppyness of the core, or the security of the lock.

    Very ironic that the "Face" lock, was the most we've ever seen of Bill's face! I wonder if that is why Tyler called it the "FACE" lock?

  • @rallock67
    @rallock67 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You misspoke Bill, it is the drivers the keep the plug from flopping around. The key pins are below the shear.
    Tyler did a really great job on those pins. I'm guessing he threaded the top chambers than used a file to remove the threads on one side. I sure does look like he removed the cover though. It would have been better if he had used a Yale cylinder with better tolerances

    How are my schlage locks? I noticed the locks to my house are 5 pin which seems like a bad sign if someone were to try and pick them. Our backdoor had muddy footprints on it, so obviously they have held up well.

  • @Johnyrocket70
    @Johnyrocket70 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice drivers, never seen a threaded Bible do much to slow anyone down. they usually cause 1 or more springs and drivers to get stuck taking them out of the game & making it easier to pick. same with spooled keypins. you gotta be picking like it's your 1st day to lift them high enough to get stuck. a threaded core and good looking drivers is another story. they usually always change the feel.

      It was definitely some trouble :)
      I say, if you make it a minute or longer in bill's hands, you're doing pretty good.

    • @Pdro-gw7lu
      @Pdro-gw7lu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thats the thing, he's so proficient that I need to remind myself of the difference in skill level when I am working on locks. Just looks so simple in his hands

    • @DrSid42
      @DrSid42 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well certainly he can pick locks most people can't. But then again .. lock which can be picked, can be picked, period. And there are known construction which even Bill can't pick. So these challenge locks sure are a challenge .. but they are in the end meant to be picked. Well I guess it's also because it's relatively simple to repin a lock . But to create completely new one would be way more complicated. So you could say it's more like 'how far can we get with pins alone'. I'm fine with that. But with Bill it means: 10 minutes tops :-D

    • @---cr8nw

      You can do it with a dremel and a drill press as a lathe. Or, if you don't have a drill press, you can mount one dremel or drill in a vise and use another dremel to do the cutting.
