Imagine if the carpet had been literally any shade or depth of blue. It would’ve complimented the orange tent while still looking great on camera where you don’t see orange, giving the beach vibes if they really wanted that which I don’t understand, and the champagne and pale dresses would’ve looked so ethereal on blue.

  • @katekeeney2703

I definitely think a lot of my issues with the outfits came from the absolutely baffling lack of styling!!! So much flat, sad hair, only like 2 people were wearing a bold lip, no one wearing earrings???? It often made the dresses look lackluster or unbalanced, and it was so sad. I don't know if it's 'recession core' or the horrible 'clean girl aesthetic' or maybe just all the support staff were on strike, but it was so depressing to see people wearing these phenomenal dresses with hair like they just rolled out of bed.
Also was furious to see Rooney Mara pulling out archive McQueen, only to style it like a girl going to yoga and spending the whole night looking like she's ten seconds away from slinking off into a corner. Girl you are wearing an absolutely stunning piece of archive fashion, you have the chance here to create an iconic Moment, I don't care that smiling isn't your thing, put your shoulders back and wear that dress like it deserves!!!!!

There’s something insane to me about picking an orange tent and then, as an afterthought, changing the carpet, which is iconic for its color. And also not giving stylists, designers and celebs enough lead time to plan accordingly. My problem with Florence’s is that I feel like I’ve seen this silhouette and platforms too many times on her. I like that Jessie’s managed to look both elegant and punk. Rooney’s dress was exquisite but something is off for me. My favorites were:
Women: Hong Chau (Top 1 for me and I’m sad that her style has been overlooked this whole awards season), Malala (I especially loved the story behind the jewelry she wore), Sarah Polley (always a sucker for women wearing suits), Sandra Oh (yes to wearing orange!!) Emily Blunt, and Fan Bingbing.
Men: Paul Mescal, Justin Hurwitz, Harry Shum Jr., and Lenny Kravitz.
From the VF afterparty: Kaia Gerber, Austin Butler, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Zoey Deutch, Elizabeth Olsen, Adwoa Aboah, and Sabrina Dhowre Elba.

I really enjoy your videos because I don’t know anything about fashion, but it fascinates me when is married to history, periods and characters. It kinda tells you something about the person that is wearing it, and also I just love how you explain it, use references so we can see the inspiration of it. Great work!

The color theory and the contrast of the red carpet against the color of the dresses has been well established for decades and it’s something that the designers of these dresses are planning for when they designed and created the whole look. Also I’m curious if the change in the carpet color could have effected the white balance for the photographers. It just seems so inconsiderate for the coordinators to switch this up on a last minute decision because it didn’t match the drapes.

My absolute favorite look of the night was Angela Bassett's. Purple is my favorite color, and she looked radiant in her gown. A look I also love that I haven't seen enough people talk about is Salma Hayek's burnt orange dress, she looked great it in it and the color just popped so well on her. My least favorite look was the champagne carpet itself lol

Andrea Riseborough's McQueen gown was so cool, I thought she wore it well with the short hair and ear jewelry. Her vanity fair Armani prive number was also SUPER cute!
Ok but also I loved Danai Gurira's Jason Wu gown, i think it's stunning and she pulled it off incredibly, probably my fave.
Ice cold take: Yeoh's Dior undeniable gorgeous
