This performance and Steve Earle's "Ft. Worth Blues" is the reason I sought out the man, Townes, himself. I consider Towne's the best American folk writer to date. Better than Dylan I say...
I agree that this is a nice version. The two versions are so different. Eric definitely has a passionate take on the tune. Townes version is kinda hard to play on guitar I think. Not diffiuclt chords, just hard to get the same feel. Well, that's my thoughts.
Wow! Bullseye. Great performance. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant version of a great song.
All time favorite.
fairlyfastone, Woh- understatement of the year. That's Kelly Joe Phelps, master in his own right. Seek him out. You'll be glad you did.
"keep it loose and don't get excited, man you know its gonna pass before long" words to live by

Main thing, ‘don’t panic’…that it..?
RIP
Seems like some artists borrow heavily for rhythm from Hollywood sound tracks..?
i know this is probably considered blasphemous in texas...and eric woud not appreciate me saying so..but eric does townes better than townes!!
