To be honest not sure what you mean. Bought the casette on release and they were broadcasting several of the songs in the radio all day back then. Wouldnt say its overlooked nor underrated. If anything, the opposite: a great final album.
My favorite QUEEN album...it means a lot to me... I followed them their whole career..he was very sick making this album but soldered on..he was one of a kind.
This is probably not a song that would be in my regular Queen playlist but there's not denying it's an incredible song. To me this represents the extraordinary power of Queen - Freddie's vocals are dynamic and sheer perfection; Roger's drums are all power and fervor, John's bass line is deep and powerful, and Brian's guitar playing is exquisitely beautiful. Queen can never be matched in their style and musicality!
My dear Marie, thanks for this comment. My thoughts exactly. Thank you for expressing the truth, at least from the point of view of Quenn's loyal fan during last 33 years. Queen was always a group of 4 different pure music artists, combining the best of themselves. None of them, including Freddie, didn't reach the tops in solo projects. Except John of course, who never tried it. Only together they were creating a kind of magic.🙂
during this era Queen would sample bass lines ( The Invisible Man ) and double track the drums. The main drum line was created by using a drum machine with additional live drum track laid down onto it afterwards. They used the same drum technique for The Show Must Go On with electronic drums mixed with the ambiance of the live kit. In this song I can hear they sampled live drums of Roger's and sequenced them properly.
The first time I hear this song. It blew me away like the wild wind. With his last strength, he shined so bright for one last time. I knew you too late, you left us too soon. I miss you, wild wind.
His low notes reach the depths of my soul... And the bass, the drums, and the guitar... Absolute perfection. He was the wild wind…Goose bumps just like 30 years ago…INSANELY AWESOME!!!!!!
Does it not seem that this songs rhythm might be inspired by the bangles song 'walk like an Egyptian' , which was released a few years before. It's quite an uncommon rythm, especially in this genre.
there are two types of queen songs. There are the hits, the songs that many queen fans knows very much about like bohemian rhapsody, somebody to love, under pressure, etc... and then there are the rest of the songs. Songs that are underrated, under looked and not so many people know or listen often. To me any queen songs whether they are the hits or not, they are all damn well good and that's the fact. You can look at all their albums and there is not one bad song or album at all, maybe with the exception of hot space, i think that album is the weaker album of queen, but even then it has some good songs on there to.
There's a reason hot space wasn't that great. There was this guy. It's been years since I last saw that interview. As far as i can recall. That guy was influencing freddie i think. Pushing him towards giving the album a more disco sound i think. That ruined things And yes, all of their songs!!! They are damn good. All of them. There were some that i didn't like initially. Then fell in love with them too. No song that i don't like. But there are some that don't have that same amount of magic
Totally agree...they have so many underrated tracks and hidden gems that people who only know Queen by their hits have no clue about. I feel like 95% of what they recorded just knocked it out of the ballpark and this song is no exception.
most of their songs from their later albums are mostly underrated songs that happen to be masterpieces in my opinion. Like brian may once say about this album, there is a lot of passion, emotions that had gone into making this album and even made in heaven too. All of the songs they had made over the years are all pretty damn good and there is a lot of underrated songs that many people don't know about unless if you are such a huge queen fan, you'll know every single song on all of their albums.

Everyone was united in making Mercury's short life a very beautiful time, not to mention the songs and how powerful Mercury's voice sounds on songs like The Show Must Go On or Don't Try So Hard. It's a shame that The Miracle, Innuendo and Made In Heaven are not as well known...
