- Wood panels are a great surface for oil and acrylic paintings. They are sturdy, cheaper than canvas (usually), and easy to find. I will show you one easy way to prepare your wood panel for painting using gesso.
Quick Tip - Make sure to let the gesso completely dry before you start your painting

Love your channel! Thank you for the content. Are there any pros and cons between Masonite and Plywood panels?
Thank you❤
Thanks!
Very very thankyou
I make my own with glue white paint and plaster or talcum power. It works
How do you prepare the back so it can be hung???
I am new to painting and I really enjoy your videos. I totally appreciate them. What is the difference between gesso and plaster?
Hi Jacqueline, gesso is translated as plaster, so in a way they are the same thing. However, I’ve never used plaster on my canvases, I use it more as a sculpting or molding medium, gesso has more acrylic in it and works well for covering canvas and adding texture to canvas or wood in preparation for painting. I hope that is helpful!

Hi, can I use primer??
Question: can you use gesso on 3D wooden shapes?
Yes
You do not need to seal the panel first before gessoing it?
Gesso is a primer, it will seal your canvas
You do need to seal it, i use rabbit skin glue and then several layers of gesso
What kind of wood do you use?
Hi, sorry this is so delayed, but I have used plywood, and cheap Masonite. I have heard mahogany is the best
