The 2kXL is a dope machine the balance with functions and overall simplicity makes me prefer it to other mpcs even the more powerfull 4k. By the way I'm also an heavy user of mv8000 and AsrX the 2kXL complements them very well as an AKAI flagship with its fx card.
Stopping the Sample you Go to Shift Programm where you assign the Sounds to Pads Here you can Switch from poly to Note Off The Sample stops when releasing the pads you asigned Samples or Sounds to
That’s a different thing though. Sometimes you want the sample to play full length (not note off) but you don't want to hear it ring of all the time you hit Stop during editing.
How do you do chokes on the 2000? I have the MPC2000 Classic, and it seems to allow you to choke/mute 2 separate pads per pad. It still doesn’t choke the samples correctly even when I set those 2 pads per pad. Setting the pads to mono instead of poly might be my problem, but that in theory should be the solution. I haven’t tried poly with the 2 chokes/mutes. If the person I bought this from didn’t get the fat pads for this, I could do the note off/gate to remedy this problem. I hate fat pads btw.😡 I wish it had mute groups like my MPC Live does. Is there a better way?
Now if I don't have any experience on the 2000 but if it's anything like the 2000XL (which I think it is) you can only mute two other pads unlike the newer MPC's that came after that. That was the limitations of these machines, it allowed for more creativity but def was frustrating when you wanted to incorporate more variations. There is a guy on TH-cam called LowHiss that was able to get 7 pads to mute each other on the XL. Not sure how he did it, but he uploaded to the files, maybe you should see if those would work on your MPC?
Yeah, it could have done with some updates. Some things are pointless like the sixty different time stretch options no one ever uses. But things that would be really useful like a high pass filter, setting a whole program to mono, tuning a whole program, or having the resample options available on the sampling screen would be nice. Especially the last one, you can get some great crunchy sounds with resampling, but it takes like 2 minutes just for a snare one shot, you'll need to visit your barber after resampling something long. Being able to sample straight in at whatever settings you want would be so powerful. Could also have done with some further updates re storage, the XL is very picky about what CF cards it will recognise on IDE/ATAPI.
Really? I'm pretty fast when it comes to naming things on the XL. I like the format. The 4000 on the other hand is more of a pain but naming tracks or super essential
I do it to keep myself organized when tracking. I guess theirs not a reason to do it but since I like to record videos using the pad mutes and stuff I have to remember what's on what pad lol
It also takes too much time going through folders and having to load every SOUND.WAV to find the thing you're looking for because you were too lazy to name them haha

@sp12 adam do you mean truncating with the fader? I would have shown that but if you notice my MPC is missing the fader because it's broken lol
These videos are a big help because you're good at explaining to TOTO NOOBS
Man the automation thing is amazin, never know about it!
it is even possible on the mpc60 ! 😉
:o same dude
Sheesh. That automation tho....WOW. I had no idea. Appreciate that Chris!
need more of these videos fam! Just brought the XL back into the arsenal - and there’s a bunch of shit I forgot. Great info man!
Great tips on the MPC 2000xl
I just tried the live automation feature on my MPC 2500 and it works with the panning and volume at the same time
Damn, those second sequence and record automation tips are crazy!! I've been wondering how to do live sets with my 2KXL, this'll definitely help!!
Awesome I'm happy I was able to help !!
What’s your live set method to do transitions between sequences ?
Thank you for the tips!
Tip Five----sweet!!!! Thanks!!!!
Happy to help!
Thanks share more Tips & Tricks and knollage on the mpc

Dope dope, thank you
Could you please do a thorough/deep tutorial about the whole ON:YES Pgm:OFF and drum folders system?? I can’t get my head around it all!

Thank you so much! I'll see if I can come up with 5 more tips
@@chrisgalactic yeh !
What up chris.good to see another video
Appreciate it my dude! Just hear trying to make some new content.
Dude, thanks for giving tips on the 2KXL, love your videos. And can you share where you got that black case? I have to get one :-)
Wasup man! It's actually a skin from the MPC stuff website. Check them out
Dope automation
Hi, how do you undo the automation in the mixer? Thank you so much! I learned a lot!
The only way I can think of is slightly moving the fader to record over the previous automation, don't think there is an actual undo feature.
Can you make a video of how to convert files into sounds that the moc2000xl can read? Thanks.

Nice! I had to sell my ASR X because it stopped working on me but hopefully I can get another one in the future. I really loved the tone of it!!
thank you !
Can u describe your entire wiring with sp404 the mpc and the interface
To stop the sample it’s easier to stop the sample you change it to either mono, phono, or off. I believe it’s under shift sample and you see mono.
Do you mean by setting another pad to cut off the original sample?
Is portamento a feature on the 2000XL?
Any way to create a template to make the workflow faster ?
That's a good question, you can save a PGM file and automatically load it when you fire up your sampler
Can the 4000 read the mpc 2000xl song files

going to try the automation feature on FX, does anyone know if it will work??
I don't think it will the automation was just meant with the mixer window
Does it work on FX or parameters ?
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOWGUYS LIKE J DILLA, PETE ROCK STEP RECORD USING THE 16 PADS OF SAMPLES AND PUT THE DRUMS, BASS NOTES ON TOP!!!!!!
Where did you get the skin ??
I got it from MPC Stuff check out their website
It suck because it seems like they jist abandoned the mpc 2000xl during there transition so no updates were even thought of.
Akai loves to do that make a machine and move on

My weapon of choice XL still stands
XL has plenty of modern features to stay modern
what is that thing on the left?
What thing? The Roland SP-404SX?
What made you want to sell this? I see it on reverb.com
Thinking of getting a newer sampler. I'm testing waters want to see what kind of offers I get
If I don't get anything I like I'll just keep it lol
Damn I wish I knew how to make beats
It's never to late brotha
@@chrisgalactic I'm trying to get that same exact drum machine you got in this video.
naming files is overrated. it takes way too much time.

@@chrisgalactic im on a 3000. not essential at all... opposite actually... each disk stores 1 beat. theres no reason for me to name anything.
