Thank-you Andy for reporting the truth! I know that area very well because we lived in Black Mountain, NC, for 8 years and have friends and family still there. The media keeps saying 200+ dead, and I'm mad because I know there is WAY MORE! We are currently living in Charleston, SC, and I'm so thankful for Fitsnews!

A few days in my neighbor in Boone loaned the coroner 2 refrigerated tractor trailers to use as makeshift morgues! 12,000 missing and many of the bodies from the 1916 and the 1940 floods were never recovered so just imagine these numbers 😭

You just touched on the topic that I said would be speculation on my part, but I do think that might be the big factor in any numbers being hidden in the Asheville area. And if they lie, my guess is this will be the reason. To pretend the problem was not as big as it was in that area. In our other areas I do not believe they are hiding any numbers.
I wondered the same thing about Asheville with the amount of homeless people that have been going there.

The fraud committed by a TT creator under the pretense of helping Mica Miller's family to the tune of $15,000 is appalling and needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
I can’t stand the word “grifter” because it’s thrown around non-stop on social media by people who rarely know the meaning of the word.
I’m loathe to use it, but fear the word ‘grifting’ fits this scenario perfectly. Unfortunately…😞

I’m in Australia but I’ve been following the hurricanes as I lived in the tropics here for 37 years so I understand hurricanes, cyclones here. Don’t get me wrong I really like FITS news but I don’t trust many Journalists, sorry guys, I wanted to be a Journo so not being awful but hell I’m so, so hoping these numbers aren’t right. Good question “why aren’t we hearing the true numbers”? Is the US Government hiding the true numbers. That happened here in the Northern Territory many, many years ago, the true number was hidden because in those days the law was once more than, (I’m picking numbers out of a hat here as I can’t remember what the number was) say 100 people were killed in a natural disaster the town can’t be rebuilt in that same area. Because they didn’t want to move the town they lied about the number of dead. So what’s going on over there?

The response of both state and federal guberments was and is appalling but is SOP in the vast majority of disasters. As we watch personal testimony videos across the web it becomes self-evident that government is at best ignorant to the reality or purposely misleading the public about the devastation in the mountains. SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for government is delay, obfuscate and deny reality as long as possible hoping their own failures slowly fade to be buried behind other headlines and relegated to some small report years later.
Kudos to Andrew for seeking the truth and taking the heat from the blind sheep who parrot the talking heads on the boob-tube.

The Jessica Barnes case is most heartbreaking. It's obvious that all three people in that house were abusing and misusing Jessica. All three played part of her demise, she didn't stand a chance..."Rest In Peace" Dear Girl.

Two friends I picked up 2 Surburban's packed to thd gills from a school in my area. They were paying it forward to Boone & Blowing Rock that helped them when a hurricane hit on the gulf coast.

It feels like Lahaina all over again but magnified by a million. Our country needs massive change. The people of the United States deserves so much better!!!

I don’t think they are trying to “hide” the death toll, I think they are trying to tally the totals from lots of different places, find people (in trees, cars, houses, under mud) and identify before releasing. I’m choosing to give them grace right now, there is a lot of spinning plates in the air.

I agree, I live here and I see so many lies and exaggerations. It will take time because of the area. The only place I think that will be higher is Asheville because of the homeless population.
I do believe they are keeping the number low because they don’t want the country to realize the desperate need to continue to help and rebuild.
So long as they are recovering souls the land can’t be sold off.
Don’t you realize there are valuable resources like lithium on precious farmland and corporations like Blackstone who are slapping up sub par housing?
I was in Asheville this past Wednesday and there were so many volunteers where we were that we ended up leaving. I can only speak for what I witnessed. I smelled a foul odor and thought death but found out it was rotten meat thrown out from the homeowner. We drove down by Biltmore Village and it was barricaded because the area was basically destroyed. I was there a month ago eating at Cavas before we spent the day at Biltmore. The area along with the entrance to the Biltmore were decimated. We drove over to Swannanoa and Old Fort to distribute donations. The people, not the government, were turning down our donations. Why? Because they said they had been blessed with so many donations they no longer had room for anymore water, etc. They were gracious and kind and thanked us and directed us until we found a church that took our truckload of donations. They too confirmed they were overwhelmed with donations and weren't sure where to put everything. They had everything organized and on hand for those who needed anything. There were people there. We talked to people who pulled bodies out of the water. They said some of the people were not from their area. The homes, businesses, churches and schools in the path of that river did not stand a chance. The people are probably still in shock but they weren't standing around doing nothing. Everyone was working to help one another. People from many states, churches, and rescue organizations showed up to help. We saw the National Guard. Not mass amounts of them but some of them none the less. The back roads going to Lake Lure were very sketchy. We could see where mud ran down and washed out parts of the roads and knocked over trees. Eventually the police stopped us and told us the roads were gone and we chatted with them for a few. Everyone was nice and kind and very gracious for any of us who showed up with donations, volunteering, and encouragement. They will need help for any months to come in "some" of these areas. Old Fort needs a new school since their brand new school was destroyed.

Kamala had an entire military cargo helicopter loaded with supplies prepared for a photo shoot for her… then they unloaded the supplies and never took the supplies to the people. I swear these are daemons!!
Mica's parents have never asked for anything like these fundraisers they have and are handling their own accounts. A fundraiser is coming up on November 15 solely managed by the family. You are telling the truth about the people helping each other. Talking about the death toll is still speculating and it serves no purpose. I am sure the smells are from so many animals who are also caught in this flood.
I can speculate on some things also but I won't say anything because it serves no purpose.
I am on many local pages where people are checking for relatives and friends who are were unreachable and people will go to the addresses and confirm they are ok. I see it over and over in Brevard and the Lake Lure Area. I know people who are going in to remote areas to check. There are also many seasonal homes that were empty so no one is sure yet about them.
Leave the count until all is done as it really isn't helpful to guess. Now if you can prove they are lying for a reason....Ok.
I dislike the Governor too...but I still only want the truth. After seeing so many lies it really angers me. People are saying FEMA takes things or turns people away or charities turn away. There are reasons in most cases. We are actually overwhelmed with help. It is dangerous in some areas to help. But let me tell you our churches and communities stepped up to the plate on day 1 and have been at it every day. That's the story to tell.

Ya'll need to learn how to pronounce Appalachia. It isn't Appa-lay-sha unless you are an over educated educator who has never been there, yet write books about it. The correct pronounciation in this area is Apple-at-cha as in cha cha cha. Please respect us enough to say it correctly.
I lived near the mountains in Pennsylvania and we pronounced it Appa-lay-sha. Only recently have I heard it pronounced Appa-latcha. Maybe it's regional?
