I enjoy my 30th anniversary cabinet. I haven't done the online playing at all, except to connect and download updates. I saw a lot of the reviews about the monitor and honestly, it's not that big of a problem. If you are in front of the machine and playing, everything looks fine. It's only from that one angle from the right that the colors look off. Now if that's a problem for you, well ok. But it's really not a deal-breaker for me. I play Joust more than any other game on my cabinet because that brings back such fond memories...but man do I suck at it now!

I just picked this up from Target online for $399 with riser and light up marquee. Will look nice next to my OG 1up MK 2 cab (which is modded with sanwa sticks and the pie)
I really love the cab,love the game list screen is fine when I’m playing so it’s a win at the end of the day.I may change the monitor down the road . Such a beautiful cab for the collection 🤘🏼🔥
Wooow, thank you for this review mate. There is no way I’m dropping $650 CAD plus tax if there is any kind of issue with the monitor. That would drive me crazy. That really sucks considering the legacy of this game and it being the damn 30th anniversary. How could they cheap out on that? Bummer!
Your review was spot on. Everything is amazing except the monitor, however I did get used to it and do like how’s it’s a 5/4 ratio instead of the 4/3 that the Legacy 2 cabinet used making MK characters look slightly taller. I do have both Legacy and 30th anniversary versions as MK 2 and 3 are my fave games of all time. Maybe we’ll play online one day, I’m Girthothyclops on the leader board… way down on the leaderboard that is lol again, great review 👊🏼

Same. Really wanted centipede but I’m passing for the same reason.
For me I think this one looks 100 times better than last year’s so I’m glad I sold mine considering it’s basically functional furniture it’s almost more important to look nice than the monitor at this point especially when you could still play standing in front of it. Even though I have over 21 arcades & pinballs Everyone still rather play my PS five series X or switch including my son and his friends who are only eight so it’s a literally functional furniture at this point wrong I may play it for a half hour or so a month lol
Awesome review as always! My cab is coming in tomorrow. Not thrilled about the monitor. I'm 5' 8" and also have a stool so hopefully it doesn't ruin my experience. Probably not getting the other legacy cabs with this monitor though.
Congrats man, like i said it's an awesome cab and so much fun it's just the screen is awful. If you don't care about how it looks other than directly in front of it you should be okay

DAMN That intro got me Pumped! MORTAL KOMBAT! The monitor really hurt this machine, from the looks even when you slightly stand aside playing local 2 player you start to get hit with the wash out. Great vid though man, Love your detailed reviews of the cabs

Thank you for this honest review. I tried the cabinet at my local Costco & it seems to have high contrast, as if the black graphics looks more grey. A shame because the build of the cabinet & the fake coin slots looked really impressive. I am now more tempted towards the Street Fighter Capcom Legacy Edition. Would you say the monitor is better on that cabinet than on the MK 30th Anniversary? Cheers.

I hope 1up uses a BoE monitor as they keep getting close to making a really good cab. If I got this one I would have to upgrade the monitor.
Hopefully if they release a rootbeer tapper cab with a better monitor I would consider getting this one
Yeah I saw the Tapper leak with the fridge in it and I was super excited. I'm not really keen on the fridge but a tapper arcade1up has always been a dream

Might have to pick this up, personally the monitor isn't much of a bother since I don't have an arcade room or anything where viewing next to other cabinets would annoy me and really only plan on just plopping down on a stool in front of it and playing folks online lol
I’m confused…. On Amazon I see this one, it’s like $399 and has like 7 games or so AND gets online….
Then there’s a whole other one with just MK1,2,3,and UMK3 for over $600 I’m guessing bells and whistles ? I even read that the the more expensive one don’t even come with the bottom half and that’s sold separately!?!

Make sure you are looking at approved sellers. The latest versions of MK from Arcade1Up have 14 games and online play. Mortal Kombat 30th and Mortal Kombat 2 Deluxe. MK 30th may be on sale for $399, earlier versions msrp was $299 so it may be a reseller trying to inflate the price
I appreciate the review! I was debating buying a beat up MKII cab or a new Midway 30th at around the same price. My goal was to mod the cab with new controls and a retroPie or mini PC, and I guess that monitor means I should go with the MKII
Waiting the procabs ,only bought this because I got it for $430 and it’s Mortal Kombat. And the other few cabs I bought a few weeks ago I got for $380 each RidgeRacer T2. I did buy the new Ms. Pac-Man it has the good monitor 14 games a coin door that’s basically a perfect cab and only paid 480 for that one. But I’m done till the procabs come out.
I think a lot of people feel the same way. Seeing more and more online people are selling 3/4 and waiting for xl and pro

Best part is when this cab came out many people still defended the monitors saying it didnt bother them at all lol i think they were living in denial so they didnt feel bad they just spend money on something they weren't able 100% happy for
I have this and it honesty doesn't bother me🤷♂️. Tbh I dont even notice the flaws
So my Mortal Kombat 2 legacy cabinet that I got for 200 bucks is a better buy.
Minus Online gameplay.
That is definitely not worth a 300.00 upgrade.

I mean I don't care about the monitor as long as it looks good while playing it. In fact I plan on buying their classics collection minus one of the pacman machines.

I love this cab. Monitor isn't an issue for me. My only complaint is that more sucky people need to play online. I'm like 0 and 30.

I’m on the same exact page as you with the monitor and online play. I always thought I was pretty good until I play online and get the crap beat outta me lol
I hope they release a "Version 2" take on this cab with a better monitor and the slightly taller cabinet size (like KI, Yoga Flame, etc. that uses the side panel extensions).

What about switching out this monitor with BOE from last year's legacy? Replacing the PCBs of course. Or are the monitor dimensions different inside the cabinet?
Apparently there are different version of this cab and I honestly wasn't aware. as this is my first arcade1up purchase. However, I was cruising through my local walmart and saw one marked for $299 from $399 and tossed it in the basket without looking at much else other than box condition. Opened it up when I got home, no riser and no lit marquee. I can just buy or make a riser not that big of a deal. But anyone know where to get a lit marquee for this cab version? I'm going to assume all the dimensions are the same on the walmart versions? Thanks for anyone time who reads and response to this ahead of time.
I know they’re two completely different games but I’m looking to buy my first ever Arcade 1Up cab! I want to get either this or the Marvel pinball machine? I love both MK and Pinball! What would you recommend I buy?? Great vids man :)
So it sounds like the only con, is just the ass monitor. If that's it, then I'm still sold on it. Doubly so if you can replace it, is this possible?
Still have the last Midway legacy which is awesom. Easy fix with the shit monitor. Upgraded it to a 19" dell ,job done. If only MK4 was included. Wait for sale but love that Midway shape.
The form factor is stellar def. Great cab outside of the screen and no one should ever have to mod these to make them playable

Far right at a distance the screen washes out? Who even plays like that? Front on its perfect, that's how people play, even 2 players. Mind you, all this negative press allowed me to get one for 299.99

So are the graphics closer to the arcade version on this 2022 cabinet or are they the same from the 2021 cabinet? That’s what I was most disappointed about with the 2021 cabinet was the graphics.

Are you going to replace the monitor with the one 19k fox said to replace with as well? I replaced mine with a boe monitor from an older cab I got but the top and bottom cut off a few inches and I'm fine with that. I'd rather have a few inches cut off then stare at washout.
I'm thinking about it but that specific monitor isn't so inexpensive to acquire here in Canada and I would honestly prefer not to have to perform after market modifications to any cabinet
@@MichaelBtheGameGenie I know. It's sad that they chose to use a monitor that has washout issues. They probably didn't have enough boe monitors when this game and Golden Tee 3D XL got made so they chose the non boe screens. I wish they would have just waited to release this cabinet. They waited a year and a half to release the dragons lair. The SF2 yoga flame and the hadoken versions cabs magically got the boe screen back. I find it funny though when I was watching Jason's 3rd Floor arcade review of the yoga flame cabinet, he mentions it has the good boe monitor. Perhaps arcade 1 up should put that on the box as one of the features along with online play and lit marquee lol.

It's bugging me, it really is... On one hand, this game list includes about 5 of my all time arcade favorites, but I think having a good viewing experience might be more important than the online play, but why A1Up would you make us have to choose!?

I really hope they reissue this with a better monitor. I really want this cab but for the price of these things I cannot justify the price for such a shitty screen. And it's minor but the yellow block buttons instead of white bothers me as well

Yeah I bought one for $300 with no riser no lit marquee screen is so blurry the men looks like lego blocks but it plays well the other games look like atari style games the way the screen looks.. sad from wal mart

I'll be keeping my legacy cab for a couple reasons. The games to me aren't that much better. Just 2 new games and 1 being a puzzle doesn't appeal to me. When compared to the capcom legacy-BB much different games like the darkstalkers games, wrestling etc. The monitor isn't too much of a bother to me but with how much my kids play the cabinets I'm gonna have to see it from the side and how much I get the "hey dad watch me kick this guys butt" and watch my kids play I just imagine headaches are gonna happen alot. Plus I see them going with the direction of street fighter with Gen 1 cabs then the next Gen to legacy then online mortal kombat was always almost a year behind the street fighter cabs, more recent with the street fighter BB and now mk 30th. I give it a year we'll get mk in the same idea as the yoga flame and shinko hadouken cabs. 2 mk cabs different custom art with online and new cab form. Small tidbit too but WHERE IS SPECTATOR or even just a simple "winner stays lower pays" type, 10 or so to a lobby, people watch as they wait. So I think I'll hold off for a while or wait til the next gen

mk4 runs in arcade 1 up cabinets
Mk look nice but have crap games company gaunlet boobles and many unplayable games . Defender and tapper is good old arcade games but its only 2 good from 10 added games . Where commando , Green beret ,final fight, pit figher,ghost &goblins , flying shark , street fighter 2, jackal, teenage mutant ninja turtles,rtype,
