    It was actually the Spanish who introduced Christianity in the Philippines where our country is named after the king of Spain Philipp. We celebrated 500 years of Christianity 2 years ago. If you go to cebu you'd see Magellan's cross symbolizes the acceptance of Christianity in 1521. Our Fiestas are usually religious related.

    • @peppaslittleadventures5935
      @peppaslittleadventures5935 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Sagada and the rest of the Cordillera was not influenced by the Spaniards. If I‘m not mistaken it‘s the American missionary who brought Christianity there.
      You can actually see from their last names, they don‘t have Spanish last name.

    • @emdrmt28
      @emdrmt28 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@peppaslittleadventures5935 you are indeed right, the Spanish people did not succeed in conquering the Cordillera's. It was the Americans who managed to introduce Christianity in the area. So the religion in the area is mostly Anglican .

    So great to see you in Sagada! Way back in the 70's when it wasn't as well-developed, you'd really think you were in Shangri-la! The terraces are phenomenal but it is really, really hard walking up back for us citifolks, LOL!! BE SAFE guys but enjoy my country! Another magical place is Batanes, I hope you can go there!

Now, it has improved a lot and not as countryside as it used to be, but if you like the mountains and fresh air, then up north is where's it at. BEST TOURIST SPOTS IN VIGAN CITY, ILOCOS SUR (Check it out in TH-cam) Hello Nadia & Erfan after your visit in Sagada I highly recommend to proceed & explore Vigan City especially Calle Crisologo, Plaza Burgos, Baluarte Zoo & National Museum. You can take bus or van from Sagada or Baguio City going to Vigan City.
      Vigan received a much-coveted recognition of being one of the six (6) UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Philippines and one of the New Seven Wonders Cities.
      1. Discover Calle Crisologo, is Vigan's most popular tourist attractions & is the highlight of Vigan City tour. It is a well preserved cobblestoned streets that lined with ancestral houses dating back the Spanish colonization of the Philippines in the 16th century. A kalesa ride is good for an hour & can take you around Calle Crisologo & the rest of Vigan Heritage Village including the Vigan Cathedral & Plaza Burgos.
      2. Visit National Museum of the Philippines. This is a series of museums adjacent to the Vigan Provincial Capitol & a treasure trove of memorabilia of two historical personalities: the martyr priest Padre Jose Burgos & former Philippine President Elpedio Quirino.
      You can visit this by joining Vigan City tour.
      3. See the Bantay Church Bell Tower. Nothing else can give you the best view of Vigan than Bantay Church Be Tower. The belfry is situated on a hill
      overlooking the Bantay district in northeast Vigan. The watchtower served as a good vantage point for the natives of Ilocos to see approaching enemies during the Spanish reign & World War II.
      4. Explore Plaza Burgos, located within a good walking distance from Plaza Salcedo, this plaza is named after Padre Jose Burgos, whose statue stands as a reminder of a priest's martyrdom in fighting Spanish regime.
      5. Visit Vigan Mansions & Museums.
      If you want to know what its like to be an ilustrado, the class of educated Filipinos during the Spaniards reign, you need to visit the famous mansions-turned-museums of Vigan; Arce Mansion, Syquia Mansion & Crisologo Museum.
      6. See Animals at Baluarte Zoo. Not too far from the center of Vigan City, you'll find Baluarte Resort & Mini-Zoo sprawling on roughly 100 hectares of rolling plains & hills. The zoological park belongs to local politician Chavit Singson who use his property to share
      his love for safari to the public.
      7. Ride a Zipline at Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone. There's a five storey platform that you need to climb up before making your way to the zipline, which is about 400 meters long.
      8. Take a Dip at Mindoro Beach. It is situated toward the west coast, it can be a good spot for watching sunsets.
      9. Watch the Dancing Fountain Show at Plaza Salcedo. The park between Vigan Cathedral & the Provincial Capitol turns from a haven for picture taking at day to a stage of dancing lights at night that everyone can enjoy for free.
      10. Learn About the Twin Bridge. Ilocos Sur's twin bridge, the Quirino Bridge and Banaoang Bridge, stand parallel to one another on a crossing along the grand Abra River.
      11. Visit the Pagburnayan Jar Factory. One good thing about touring Vigan is that you get to learn a lot about its history, culture & way of life through the town's homegrown establishments.

    That region is quite different from the rest of the areas in the Philippines,
    tradition, culture & people behavior, they are a bit reserved, more disciplined & maybe even a bit more hardworking not to mention it was the only part that was never been conquered during past colonial times, tough guys out there no wonder most MMA athletes from PH that I had seen in ONE Championship are from the Cordilleras. Anyways good thing you went there & see the other part & beautiful mountainous area of the PH before going to the beaches(I assume) because it is the usual destination of foreign travelers👍

    Wow. The last time i went to sagada was around 7 years ago... There is A lot of improvement already. First time to watch a blogger that authentically feature sagada. You missed the restaurant though that only serves vegetable on their menu and that place is near the cave with view of majestic hagdan palayan. Transient house is more cheaper in sagada plus you can experience to eat pinikpikan. Thats local cuisine.

      Thank you and no way we totally missed that. We were told we cannot go to caves with baby so we didn’t even bother going to check it out. So many things to do that we couldn’t cover this time. Maybe next time when he’s older 🥰🙏🏽

    Thank you for visiting the North. If you have a day or two to spare, I highly suggest visiting Anawangin Cove in Zambalez, about a three hour bus ride from Manila. It’s a different kind of beach where instead of coconut trees, pine trees line up the beachfront. Plus the sand is made up of volcanic ash. You can set up camp there for the night. I highly recommend you guys check that out. 🙂
