  • Progress update on the mill conversion. How does grbl work on the Arduino, how do you connect it, and way covers/chip shields.

    Hi Calab,
First I would like to thank you for sharing your build and knowledge! :-) When it comes to GRBL, have you found a way to do software backlash compensation?
    Keep up the good work!

I have not yet. I've actually had to put the project on hold due to job and health issues. I started researching it, but haven't found a solution yet.

Out of curiosity as I'm still trying to figure all this out, why didn't you use a GRBL Shield instead of having a shield made? Is it to support other options not offered on the GRBL Shield?

Konish P. I couldn't find a shield I liked that had the options I wanted, pin layout, and access to the options. The shield I designed has the pins layer out by wiring without having to jump across others and trying to squeeze a bunch of ground wires in on one spot.

Thanks for the quick reply. I going to start a CNC conversion on the exact mini mill, and really like the thought of using an Arduino UNO, gshield, and bCNC on a Raspberry Pi 3 like your set-up.
