This video is a good example of why the cougar needed to be reworked. A lot of standing around in the open, doing nothing, passing time, trying to brute force the encounter to happen.
@@mikeparkinson766 I respectfully disagree. I didn’t say it in the video, but it makes sense that the cougar won’t attack on the ice, because it can’t sneak up on you. Also, I wasn’t playing the game normally, because I was trying to aggro the cougar as fast as possible for the sake of content.
@@QilleWolfI think that's the point they're making here - what you did here trying to make it appear isn't something anyone would do playing the game "normally". Imagine a new player buying the game and playing it without reading the developer diaries and patch notes. Would they do something like this? No. Would they run into the cougar at all? Probably not.
@@QilleWolfI was lucky (is that the right word?) to run into the cougar when the update hit, accidentally mapping the cougar's den when exploring the new region. That felt fun (again, probably not the right word!) and immersive, because it was part of the game world around me. The timed triggers and visual interface cues though? Not so much. They make the experience feel more like an affliction than an animal.
I made sure i was at my favorite base on timberwolf mountain when the cougar showed up, and because the hut is technically outside, i would hear the cougar screams every morning!
@@QilleWolf right smack dab in the middle of the lake. I wasn't passing time even. I still loved the whole thing. It wasn't as terrifying as the first time I tried the darkwalker challenge, but they nailed the sound effects!
That shot in the end was actually really impressive! Especially since you only have one shot to get it. Knowing my luck, I would probably miss lol. I'm good with guns in other games but this one always gives me trouble.
I'm SO mad, that all the complaints made the dev's remove the cougar. I'm not a pro TLD player by any means, the longest I've made it is 57 days on Stalker. Played a couple days after the patched dropped. Even just hearing the cougar on the menu screen, it sent chills down my spine. I was so excited to play with it in game, then the next day I learned they removed it. UGH Didn't even get to experience it. So, thanks for making this video! You are a delight to watch. ^^

@@isaaco5679 that’s terrifying, I love it! Did it attack you on the ice, or did it wait until you were near trees?

@@Lunaish03 I swear, I had some divine intervention on that shot, because I got luuuuucky
