I had the same problem on my 2009 and a 2006. An electrician told me to put in a 25 amp inline fuse to be safe.

    Great post Tank!
    I really enjoyed it.
As you already know I'm an automotive t,te,technician.lol.
But I learned something today from a Jack of all trades. Is there anything you don't know how to do? Aside from figuring out the female thought process. Lol.
That's something all men suffer from. Thanks for the fix on the Impala☺🔩❗
I have a customer with an inoperable rear defroster on an 07.havent looked at it ,yet but when he comes back to have me check it out, I'm definitely pulling the RH kick panel to take a gander.
Hey your channel is starting to take off Buddy 530 subs. Good job. Keep them videos coming.I think you should do a funny fishing video some day. We know you love to fish. Have a great week, see you next week.

Do I need a jumper wire or can I connect them straight together? Do I need to disconnect the battery before doing this?

shouldn't need jumper wires. Always a good idea to disconnect the negative battery cable.

I did t see any smoke . It seems like you already figured the problem out before hand because I saw wires already cut. I'm confused. Are you saying if it happens this is what you do or did this really just happen ?
..What symptoms are there really ?? Would I see smoke ?

I have repaired at least 30 Impalas 2006 and up with this issue. I was waiting for it to happen with mine and it finally did. Smoke didn't show well on the camera. I was doing a scene for another video when I smelled the smoke and knew immediately what it was. The wire was burned in two. The circuit is not fuse protected. Symptoms are no rear defogger operation and /or the smell of burning plastic and smoke.

I have a 2013 malibu with the same rear defrost issue. Checked relay switch and fuse. Checked this wire harness, and nothing looks burned up. What should I check next?

Check for voltage at the grid (at the window) It should be 6 volts. If thats ok check the grid itself for a break.

I'll give you a great deal on one. lol. You know, there's a reason why Chevy decided not to spell Chevy with an Sh... Just sayin.

Now is this safe? Seems like it would be easier to catch on fire no fuse and apparently it gets to hot!

    • @lifeafterlife8417
      @lifeafterlife8417  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Its still a fused circuit. It got hot because the connection in the wiring connector was too small to handle the amperage. Bad design.

Good Eye! I noticed it later. Went to put a new filter in and out came a critter. (baby squirrel, I think.) True story.
