  • We take a table-top look at the ‪@HecklerKochTV‬ VP9SK. This pistol is ideal for me as a concealed carry option and it shoots like a dream. It has some downsides, but this is one well-built pistol. Do you like the VP9SK and why would you own it vs. other smaller options available in the market today?

    Cannon grade steel. It’s what’s used for Germany’s current Leopard tank, one of the top tier of the modern 21st Century current worlds tanks. I believe Rheinmetall is the company making this steel. Yes, 60k to 90k barrel life. BTW, look how well the finish is holding up on your firearm. Remarkable

    Thank you for sharing. I have a VP9 w long slide I use for IDPA. I have been going back and forth between P365XL and VP9SK for my carry. I like the VP9Sk because it would be same format at my IDPA. I like the P365xl because of the slim line grip and the innovation to that line. Your video (after watching many) has helped me feel the SK is the better choice if I only could have one.

    Thanks for this fantastic review. You covered absolutely everything. I was born and raised on 1911's so this is different for me. I was so impressed when shooting this gun that I ordered one and am eagerly awaiting it's delivery. My EDC is a Sig 938 SAS but will soon be replaced by this, new to me, HK. Thanks again for this very informative video.

    I just picked one up 2 weeks ago, and it makes a very average shooter (like myself) a much better shooter. I have a Glock 26, and don't shoot it as well as I do the VP9. The VP9's ergonomics in my hand feel so comfortable and is very easy to grab when carrying in the IWB holster. Great video, keep up the good work.

    Great video, thanks. I do really like this pistol, but for me I’ve always thought of it as a ‘tweener’. In between compact size and subcompact. I can shoot it very well, like you can. But for me, I carry my Glock 26 more often simply because it’s a little smaller, lighter, can carry 12+1, and I can shoot it about as well as the vp9sk. That said, both are fantastic and either are worthy of carry. Thanks again!

    Great vid. My first carry was a Walther P99 AS. I still have it. It was the first pistol I carried AIWB. I also have a P365XL that I'm running with Tactical Development baseplates on the 12 round mags that add about 5mm of 'hook' that makes the grip lock-in perfectly. Also running Tactical Development's picatinny rail adapter. It's my EDC at this point. I also prefer a slightly bigger grip and adding the base plates helped a lot. Continuing the bigger is better theme I recently picked up an FN509 Tactical. It's my OWB 'fall and winter carry' and range sidearm. Still love the p99 though. Something about European 9mm pistols...

    I am happy to see you covering this pistol, I just bought it 2 weeks ago, I am very happy with it, I just added a Red pinky extension which adds two more rounds, I bought it from H-K Parts, I measured my trigger and it breaks at 3lb 4oz.
    What I would like to buy is the HK VP9, but would have to add the Long slide kit, it gives it the Walther PPQ Q5 look, speaking of which if you get a chance checkout the Canik TP9SFX, it is a exact copy of the Walther, but at half the price.

      I have what they call the Stormtrooper version, all white, another gun I believe you covered is the Ruger 57, I'm picking it up tomorrow, I reload all the ammo I shoot, I just reloaded 200 rounds of 5.7x28, I saved myself a small fortune, when you can find it, a box of 50 goes for roughly 60.00
      I do enjoy your videos, they are very well shot, lighting is right on, a few of your videos steered me to buying the guns featured in them.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Ruger 57 is a nice pistol. As you know, the scarcity of ammo has bled into reloading as well with the shortage of primers and such. The HK VP9SK in storm trooper white is not a common pistol to find. Congrats on that one! Thank you again for watching and for your kind words.

    My regular VP9 is my competition gun and I sort of want an SK for bragging rights among my shooter friends
    Shooting pistols well is a hard skill, shooting tiny pistols at the same level as full size pistols is even harder
    Not to mention theres the eternal quest of finding a tiny carry gun that is also pleasant to shoot all day, and while the SK isn't "tiny" it is certainly a small gun with all the good features of a VP9
    Also the local AFOSI agents here carry VP9SKs, that's a heck of an endorsement if you ask me

    I think that it's a great gun however when I was wanting to replace my Shield awhile back I went with the CZ P-10s. It was more affordable, has a 12 round magazine, great day/night sight on the front and hasn't had a misfeed after running several thousand rounds thru it. No regrets here.

    Very nice review! I’m new to this sport (due to the “defund the police” nonsense), purchased the VP9 and the VP9SK as my first pistols, and I think they shoot almost the same. Maybe a little softer for the VP9. The only issue is my thumb tends to rest on the slide lock, which causes the slide not to lock back after the last round. I just need to make a concentrated effort to move my thumb. Thanks for the review!

      @@cliffordino I’ve not had any malfunctions with either pistol on any type of ammo, nor have I noticed either of them as being particularly hard to rack. I used the VP9 for my CCW class in Illinois, and it worked very well. Once I finally get my permit (it can take up to 5-6 months in Illinois), I will probably be carrying the VP9SK over the VP9 for obvious reasons. I bought mine in June 2020, but my VP9 was not the 2020 model with the optics cut, so it may be a 2019 model? Anyway, I hope yours “break in” soon!

    Good review. I think if I were to get a vp9 it would be the sk. I currently have a Canik TP9 which is my double stack 9mm "sub-compact" which I really don't think either of these really fit that description anymore with the thin small 9mm's such as the 43x and the Shield, Walther PPS M2 being what I call subcompact today. I don't understand the "cocked indicator." The only time it would not be cocked is if you dry fire it. Seems useless to Me. What would you use it for?

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good question. For me, and depending on the pistol, sometimes the indicator will protrude from the body of the pistol as the trigger is being depressed. So what I do is I put my thumb over the indicator is as I re-holster the pistol. If I feel the indicator start to protrude, then I stop and check my holster because something is pressing on the trigger. That’s what I use it for. Now some indicators will protrude more than others, and some will not protrude at all. It depends on the pistol. Thank you very much for watching.

    I have this exact gun.
    It is great.
    I also have the 2020 optics ready full size VP9, with an RMR optic on it.
    The first HK I purchased was the one in the video, but I switched my normal carry to the full size, primarily to have the red dot, for 70 year old eyes it is better.
    Both shoot great!
    I retired my Glock 19, as the feel of the HK's is much better in my opinion.
    As far as round count, you can also use the new 17 round mags from my full size gun, in the SK version.....there is a gap when you do that, but maybe they will make a sleeve to fill in that space?
    The quality of construction is superb on HK guns, which may explain the higher price for these.
    The holster I ordered for the full size is a Skull Crush holster........Kydex with leather lining......excellent OWB belt holster.
    Good review.......I subscribed.
