my tip for lighting. Check out the Philips Ultinon LED globe inserts for the actual headlights. Best thing I've done for my vehicle, especially after I fitted my LED lightbar. More balanced light colour now too, half the current requirement and much much brighter then halogens. I haven't looked into if Hella have any equivalent halogen replacement LED globe inserts, but I dare say they would too.
Enjoyed this one more than the intercooler scoop video!

Regarding your comment on type of tyre @18:20. I recently put Nitto RIDGE Grapplers on my Land Rover. They are a cross between an all-terrain and mud-terrain like you said you were looking for. Great off-road performance and very good on-road up to about 75 mph before some noise is noticeable.

Ah vehicle lighting, one of my biggest bugbears for road vehicles here in Europe. DRL's have been compulsory here in Europe since 2011, the problem is that many drivers leave putting on their headlamps at low light levels as they do not appear to realise that although they have DRL's at the front, they have no illumination at the back. The next thing that annoys me is the reliance on automatic lights, unfortunately the sensors work on ambient light levels and so do not switch the headlamps on, and therefore also the rear lights, when there is low visibility due to fog or rain but the ambient light level is quite bright. Talking about fog, the next thing that annoys me is rear fog lights and their (mis)use, here in Germany it is illegal to switch on the rear fog lamps when visibility is above 50m and also if it is raining or the road surface is wet, and so reflects the light, but a lot of people do not appear to know this. The other thing is, I believe that the use of rear fog lamps lull following vehicles in to a false sense of security so that they a) drive faster than they should and b) hang on to the car in front. I believe that the main light switch should only have 2 positions - I) The lights are off when the ignition is off, dipped headlamps and rear lights come on when the ignition is switched on, II) Parking lights are on with the ignition is off and again dipped beam and rear lights come on when the ignition is switched on. Well that's it for my moan!

rules of thumb LiIon battery discharge :
"1 C" - that means it can be discharged by the same amount it delivers current.
So a 100 Ah 12 Volt LiFePo can be discharged w/o problems by 100A!
An AGM starter battery, 100Ah 12V, usually can be discharged by 700 - 800A! for a short! time, like starting.
Some more modern Lifepo can be discharged by 2C - but this still is not an alternative.
you can charge your starter battery though, before using the starter one.

Hey Andrew, as usual, another excellent video with lots of very good advice. I would like to comment on your explanation of how Lithium Batteries discharge. I ride an e-bike with a lithium battery and the discharge "curve" is not level at all, never has been. It is more like a parabolic curve where the closer I get to full discharge the faster the voltage falls off, but falls very slowly at the beginning. I do have an LCD screen that shows the voltage falling off just like a LA battery but not at an almost 45 degree straight line of decrease like a LA. Cheers

personally if I were going to play about with 100amp bats I would run 4 as house a 1-2 crank just because you might be electrically isolated from charging doesn't mean you are electrically isolated between house and house and crank batts
Main reason I was suggesting a 6x6 in the last video as it gives you a margin of space you don't typically get in single/double utes..
I know you did 6x6 tour drive though i would love to see you do a 6x6/8x8/8x4 build and drive may be even look at mounting a troopy on the back of a 70 series ute from the firewall back..

Man you are living your life according to your wishes. Me when I save money to buy a vehicle of my choice, then I have no cash left for tiny mods. I prefer keeping my car stock without adding any worthless weight of ARB bumpers or unstable lift kits. The only mods I prefer is diff lockers and a little bit big tyres and great sound system.

Have you noticed the Falken Tyres to be hard to balance. A few people I know and myself they seem to have a flat spot in the mornings until they get warm .

Great videos as always! Love the way you meticulously build and prepare your vehicles ! We graduated from the same build school :) Can you please do a list of the products you use on your build on your description of the videos? Or, where else can we go to find the list? Thanks in advance!

Great content Andrew, one thing I always think is worth mentioning is the LiFePO4 Lithium Batteries also behave differently in a fire situation. Hopefully, you never get in that situation due to a quality electrical installation. But, if you do have an electrical fire you need a specialist fire extinguisher that contains Graphite based dry powder, that forms a crust over the battery and starves it of oxygen. A normal dry powder extinguisher used on vehicles is not as effective as a specialist extinguisher for lithium batteries. Using water could be fatal.

New technologies in these batteries almost completely eliminate the risk of fire.

@@4xoverland Thanks for the explanation, I'm sure you've researched them thoroughly. Good luck with the build.

Allegedly the Cooper ST Maxx is halfway between AT and MT. Haven’t tried them myself though.

Never have the idea to come back in Europe by the road accross countries to demonstrate how good yours vehicles are? ( would be funny to see you IRL if you come to Belgium ^^ )

I have used that closed cell foam on my truck, its good for sound, but when you water in the cab, it is a nightmare to get the water out. The foam acts like a sponge and holds onto the water

I recall you didn't prefer the wider tyre on your trip from the east to west coast. Why have you selected the 285/75R16 for this build?

Andrew, i have had sevral sets of falkens and my current set is being looked at by falken for an admitted batch issue. Problem with the base rubber ripping off once worn to a point.

Good day Andrew. There is a tyre that is marketed as between AT and MT. Cooper Discoverer Maxxi ST if I have it correct now. Will have to find the advert.

I have Wild Peaks and they are a great tyre and excellent ride.

      @eaglen00b 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yep, I had the Wildpeak AT01s on my HZJ75RV touring rig and now the AT3Ws. They are a severely under-rated brand and tyre. Great on on tarmac, good on icy roads (NSW, VIC snowfields), OK in snow, very good on wet roads, wet/dry gravel.
Mud performance is compromised though, being an AT tire. Very good, smooth quiet ride too considering the LT construction.

    Hello.
I would rather put a three-spoke steering wheel with buttons and front seats with ventilation from the Land Cruiser 200 second restyling than putting music on an SUV. Especially since it always has to get up a bolt-on ....
