AFL truly is a game of horrific injuries, with the amount of things that can happen it's so admirable that people play so aggressively. In an under-15s game I was playing in last year, two Ainslie players going for the ball and giving their all, collided and both ended up in hospital with severe kidney ruptures.
I remember seeing this on TV at the time on Sunday afternoon Football on Channel 7. It wasn't a pretty game, it was years later I would find out that Richard Osborne was originally from Fitzroy back when they used to be good in the mid 80s.
It was a typcial pre-Lockett Sydney game in its uglyness. Osbourne was one hell of a footballer. Deserved so much better than playing for awful teams for most, if not all, of his career.
Good video, well researched. I used to play basketball against Richard Osborne and he seemed like one of the most genuine blokes you could hope to meet. Glad he didn't die. Just some constructive feedback on the video....the audio was difficult to hear and if you're going to put a graphic on the screen please leave it there long enough for us to digest what we are looking at.
In the interviews I've seen he looks really down to earth. Didn't deserve to be turfed out by the Lions. Thanks for the feedback, definitely still have a lot to learn on the audio front!
Schache's was tragic, had so much potential and all of a sudden, bang, career done, life changed. Lonergan is an absolute hero. Absolutely should have died with how much blood he lost, and goes on to win a flag. Legend.
@@thegaz-man I also forgot to mention John Greening who had a coma on field and another player I forgot but he got saved by emergency surgery in the club rooms after an airway got blocked
