Amazing. I'm happy to see that a few of the locations-the high school gym and "Bailey Park"-are still recognizable. Thanks.
Fantastic! Thanks! The movie came out the year before I was born and I'm now 76! A film classic with a lasting message!
Incredible that the "swim gym" still is in operation! And the gym recently got a full renovation/restoration, so it should be around for years to come.
TImes change, but that movie still stands the test of time and remains a Christmas classic. I tend to watch it every year. Thank you for sharing the movie locations. Then and Now.
WOW...a big mystery for 50 years now I can rest and revisit these places. What a load of research and devotion!! AND SO WELL DONE WITH MOVING MATCHUPS
Thank you so much..
It is way more than 50 years old, I believe the film came out in 1946 / 1947. 🌲
@@chrisjeffries2322I think he was referring to his age and not the age of the movie. It's been a mystery to him for 50 years.
@@lincbond442 Thank you for the clarification. Happy New Year, 422
As a filmmaker and someone who loves this kind of stuff I must say this was well done ..absolutely fabulous
I'm a huge movie fan and I love finding out locations. This was by far one of the best I've ever seen
One of the finest videos of this type I have ever seen. Not only do we get to see the modern of look of the sites in question, but the split screen portions try to show the relevant movie scene vs the location today at the same angle, even moving in step as the scene moves. Also, the clip is not overly long, time wise. Very well done.
One of the best movies ever, be it Christmas or not. It's an amazing story and a staple of my household every Christmas.
Wow! Thank you for this. I am a studio backlot fanatic and a huge devotee of Its a Wonderful Life. I’ve studied every aspect of this film but have never seen anyone take the time to go the the neighborhood where the RKO Encino Ranch was and do a side by side “then and now” comparison. That took
An extraordinary amount of research and effort to create. I salute you and thank you again for this wonderful work!
Very nicely done. I knew there wasn't much left in the case of filming locations. For some reason I thought the gym/pool area was on a set too. So cool to find out it was/is a real place. Wonderful match-ups. Really cool to see Bailey Park as well. Looks so different but - at the same time - the same. Thanx for posting. Take care.
Thank you so much for this. You did an incredible job.
This video is a masterpiece, like the movie it talks about🏆👍🎞
One of the best movies ever, what a film & a massive thank you for this, love from England ❤
Thank you so much for showing these locations from my favorite movie. Since I was a child, I have watched this movie every Christmas season. Glad to see the gym with the pool is still intact! Simply amazing!
Very cool, thanks for putting this together.I watch this every year on Christmas Eve
my fave movie ever by far... I loved it so much I wrote my only fan letter ever to JIMMY STEWART not long before he passed.
He wrote me right back and thanked me for my kind words and said, HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE, GREGG.
'Nuff said about the man.
This movie is in my DNA, it's so cool to see this video after having watched the movie 18 days ago.....freakin' fantastic, thanks.
Wonderful job! I loved it. So many terrific old movie lots gone forever. A shame. The Warner Ranch was the most recent casualty.
I love seeing where movies were filmed and what it looks like today. Thanks.
This is in my top 5 films of all time
WONDERFUL and profoundly sad and nostalgic - AT THE SAME TIME. ♥🤩😭😢
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job. The way the building were back then was so much better then the houses now.
Well done!!!!! One of the greatest movies ever....
Best Christmas Movie
i wonder how many people live in those houses where the set was and watch the movie every year, maybe without even knowing it was once all right where they are? great video!
One of the best movies ever, watched every Xmas for the last few decades, pity they couldn't leave the town as was but that's life, wonderful 👍
Fantastic! It’s amazing you got BH High to open the gym floor for you.
Your work on this was truly amazing! Thank you.
This was much better than it had to be. Very enjoyable.

That was pretty cool seeing that Martini’s house is not only real, but still there, and with the same address. Thanks!
Thank you, you've made this film even better for me.
Incredible info. I always wanted to know this. My favorite Christmas film.
I always enjoy these, even for films I’ve not seen (such as this). Happy holidays.
You need to watch this film. Although not intended neccessarily as a "Christmas movie" when made, it is definitely one of the most heartwarming films ever made.
WOW!! First rate, productions at work here. Well done!!
Wow, excellent job! I can't imagine the work that had to be done to match up all of that.
That was brilliant...
TH-cam exists for videos like this...

Best movie I have ever watched! I love Donna Reed.
Very cool. Its amazing the Martini house and the pool at Beverly Hills High are still there ..
Well done! I have always wanted a then and now on this movie.
There was a gymnasium pool at Byrd High School in Shreveport until a girl drowned in it, circa 1940s, then it was filled in.
Thanks for the video!
Wonderful video, thank you! Love, love, love the split screen approach. Wow!
Very enjoyable and informative. Thanks for posting.
I wish that they would make a lot more movies about the building of the decor and the sets and effects in movies, they might even be more intersting than the finished movies !!
So very well done. Many, many thanks.
awesome video, Thank you. Happy holidays.
So wonderful!!!!! Thank you.
Excellent job putting this together...
This was an awesome Christmas present to TH-cam. Thanks for brightening our holiday.

Going into this - I was wondering what you would be able to show since so much was on a backlot. WOW. this was incredible. Thank you doing the deepest dive - it’s very impressive. What a great way to kick off Christmas morning!! ESP - since I will be watching this movie today!!
A great movie, and interesting film locations
Wow (liked), very good work on your efforts with this, this movie is an icon in festive entertainment on a yearly basis (here in the UK) but to see locations as they are now is a delight, thanks so much for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Fantastic video and brilliant research you did to find all this out......
Just watched this movie and how relevant this to this time of the world also
Outstanding research. Thank you👍
Very well done thank you for all your hard work
Thank you and God bless you for sharing.
The one about the pool exciting me the most
Frank Capra was my great uncle. Grandmother’s brother
Love this movie now but I don’t remember it being shown on t.v. In the 1960s or early 1970s. Thank you for your research.
Wow this is incredible. Thanks
Incredible! Thank you so much
I remember reading that a couple of trees from the old Encino Ranch are still growing near the corner of Burbank Blvd and Wish Ave.
Excellent job, thanks! It feels much better subscribing to your channel where you've put so much research into this, rather than some of these other channels where people just repost others' work and expect likes.
this was amazing! Thank you!!!
Thank u. For nice job. Must have taken along time
This was AMAZING Thank You 😍😊🇺🇸🙏😇👍
"Great Memories !!!"
They need to show these type of movies every year for the holidays. A simpler time Morals. Not these Garbage Sick Movement movies and commercials. We desperately need morals family values back. For the future of our Children. 🙏 What a messy world we leaving them All Backwards in a Twilight Zone
Amen!!!!
Indeed.
Debbie downer. Everything is a choice.
Yes, yes and yes again. 🙏✝️🙏
Just don't buy the products of the commercials. Sooner or later the accountants will get the point. Like Bud Lite.
Sadder Budweiser.
One of the biggest financial blunders of all time was the total disregard the major motion picture entities had for the value of movie props. Up to just a couple decades ago, astonishingly fabulous props were simple thrown into the nearest trash hopper or given away to whomever would haul it away. Some props that today would no doubt be worth astronomical amounts. What's even worse than the wasting of individual props is the wasting of whole movie lots. The lost tourist income and general enjoyment potential for future centuries is sickening. They raised those sights for what? Some fast dimes at the loss of billions of dollars.
Excellent job matching the sets and real setting!
Thank you very much for this, I really enjoyed it.
Fantastic video!! Thank you for doing this.
Thank you
This was awesome thank you. Loved it
If I lived near Los Angeles I would go to Ostrom Avenue at Christmas and run down the street screaming "Merry Christmas...Merry Christmas movie house....Merry Christmas Emporium....Merry Christmas you wonderful old Building and Loan!!!!" until the paddy wagon came to pick me up. Because "Happy New Year to you....In Jail!"
Great work.Thanks.
Very nice research and filming done for this video thank you! As Im sure it took some time to find these few little traces of this iconic movie that still stand today as most are gone.I would love to run through it one day & Pottersville
wow, fantastic job
Wonderful. Thank you.
Awesome!
I found this both fascinating and extremely sad...
Just great !
That's awesome they still have the gym
Good work, and top class line ups !
THANK YOU!!!
Very well done!!
I wonder if anyone involved in the filming of this wonderful movie had any idea what it would become over the years.
The movie didn’t do well when released maybe due to post war but thankfully it caught on after .Too good a treasure to be lost in the shuffle .One of my all time favourites .Love Jimmy stewart . There were also a few great actors along with Jimmy ,Donna Reed ,Lionel Barrymore ,Thomas Mitchell ,Henry Travers ,Beulah Bondi,Ward Bond ,Ellen Corby just to name a few great actors from the day . Not excluding Frank Capra who was a driving force in alot of great movies from the movie era !
The town that inspired Bedford Falls is in upstate New York. “Seneca Falls.”
the movie was based on the book " the greatest gift" which was written in and based on the town of Califon NJ.
Well done on all these filming location videos 👌👏
Would love to see videos for the Gremlins movies and Jurassic Park.
I don’t know, seems a sin to have one of the most beloved movies and set gone forever! America is lost.
This video is awesome. Great work! S So well done!
