    As a 5’9 former D1 player now coach…you are preaching what I’ve been saying. As you spoke all I heard was hunger, hunger, hunger! I’ve been screaming this to my team. 0 lies told here. Pre practice video.

      @@NumotTheDragon One thing I learned from being undersized, is that you have to be a good play maker, a good defender, and able to knock down jumpers (mainly 3s) sometimes short hoopers want to over dribble, not pass, be like Kyrie when they're really mimicking people like Julian Newman

      @@purpmighty5740 you are absolutely right about it. @NumotTheDragon unfortunately we have to spend more time in the weight room than everyone else. Use your height to to your advantage I had countless steals just by coming under bigs that were posting up and didn’t see me.

    You are very right. When i was in high school there was a 6'4 and 6'7 basketball player, both in varsity. The 6'4 one focused on being popular, getting the girls, being cool. He succedded in that. The 6'7 one focused on talking drama, how hard his life is, being popular, got girls, partied. Both could have seriously drop all that and practiced like crazy, study film of nba players, eat right... they could at least made it to maybe d2, get a full ride scholarship. I saw how an opportunity was wasted but alot of average guys tried so hard to be popular and get girls, and never succeeded. I guess it was worth it at that time since theyre successful with the girls and popular, and enjoyed the time to the fullest.

    Everyone wants to be like Kobe or Booker, but most aren’t willing to make the sacrifices it takes to get there. It might not mean skipping every party or event, but you have to be willing to trade today’s pleasures for tomorrow’s success. You don’t just wake up one day with the right mindset-it’s built by the choices you make daily. And if you don’t learn that now, you’ll figure it out later, but by then, time and circumstances might not be on your side.
    Love the message here. Keep up the meaningful content 💪

    this is a tough one, solid advice, but it can easily fall on def ears. i blame the phones, theyre attractive with their games apps and video features not to mention the "comparison" factor like you mentioned ("worryung about others") i have witnessed athletes watch a video of another kid, who appears bigger, faster and better and it just sucks the life out of them. i was a 90s athlete, you didnt know much about other competitors unless they made the paper or tv..so we werent constantly reminded of the 16 year old in europe playung pro..or the 7'3" ...13 year old in montreal canada. my advice is to set timers on your phone with reminders of training or nutrition etc...actually use the phone as a tool, record yourself and see if your feints or fakes actually look good!..
    and watch videos like this.

    • @tjltraining
      @tjltraining  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the distractions, comparisons have always been there, at the end of the day most players have the same tools it’s all about how they use them

      Develop your ball control and finishing at the rim and always play against others to see if your getting better and a lot of shooting

    •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@charliecoveney1452 I know its a dumb question but what do you mean by ball control and for the finishing like floater and as an 11 yr. old do you need to do jelly's or fancy layups or shoot with a good percentage because I can shoot but sometimes/ most of the time there's always something wrong with my shot.

    • @charliecoveney1452
      @charliecoveney1452 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not you definitely don’t need any fancy moves when starting out just focus on the basics and try to master your shot and look up dribbling tutorials and combos to learn and practice at games speed so your used to pressure and handling the ball while moving with speed.
