Total lifesaver! I have the exact same car and the battery died. The Lincoln dealer charged $450 for a battery replacement! A few months later, I had to travel and I was too scared to take the battery out. Battery died when I was gone. This time I figured I would try out your video and see if I could do it. 10 min tops and I am a klutz. Thank you!
This EXCELLENT battery replacement video also applies to 17-20 Continental Reserve (2.7L/3.0L) and up models that have the larger/longer battery. The whole battery box has to come out, not just the top.
I ordered the battery hold down for the MKZ 3.0 but what I received in a sealed Ford bag with the correct part # HP5Z-10718-C was stamped GD9B-10718AB with the right corner bent upwards at an angle for some reason. It looks like the GD9B part is for the Continental 3.0 but I am not sure why Ford would supersede its own part with the incorrect bracket. My Fusion uses the same battery tray as your MKZ but since it came with a Group 90, uses the smaller single bolt hold down (If you lift out your battery you can see the bolt location) but has the 2 bolt clips for your flat battery hold down.
Hi, do I have to reset the cars computer afterwards for this model or is there no need for that and I can replace the battery as normal and the electronics will be fine?
Thanks for showing me to remove the air box period but then your video skips a lot of steps in between period I spent 2 hours looking for a connector that you did not show has to be removed
Sorry you had an issue, I am not sure what you mean by "skipping a lot of steps" if it was just one cable you missed. The only connector I had to remove I show at 0:50 which was connected to the air filter box. I did not have to disconnect any other cables for this video. Other have not complained about me "skipping a lot of steps" in the comments. Sorry this was a challenge for you.
@@JKCougar you don't show the cables being loosened and removed. The negative cable is 2 parts. One of mine fell off, took forever to find it under the battery tray. Thx

I didn't have to reset anything everything came back as normal
@@JKCougar Some cars need a reset on the computer to tell the computer that the battery is new. The charging system needs this.

The negative and positive should be removed as shown in the video. The is no need to break them down any further.
