I am a Canadian in Buenos Aires right now, my second visit. I will stay here for a month and then spend a month in Mendoza before heading to Chile. First of all I have a question - my impression of BA compared with my first visit in 2009 is that it is more prosperous, cleaner and more touristy - safer too. I didn't expect that as of course there is a lot of negative news about inflation in this country, etc. Is my impression incorrect or have things improved in the past 14 years? Second thing I want to say is how much I love Buenos Aires! I came back because I had such a great time here in 2009. The beautiful old buildings, the food, the drink, the nightlife, the parks, the people - I LOVE it!! I am looking forward to finally visiting Iguazu this time as well as Mendoza, maybe Salta and Cordoba if I have time. Any other recommendations? Finally, thanks for making these videos - I have watched a few - it helps me to understand better the mentality of Argentinians and also helps me with my Spanish, haha!

I definitely recommend Córdoba, as well as Rosario and Mendoza - amazing places with great people. Enjoy your trip in Argentina !

Hola Brian, te escribo en español esperando que el traductor haga bien su trabajo :). Argentina está en un momento económico muy malo, uno de los peores, el mayor problema es la inflación. La inflación a quienes más le pega es a los pobres. La clase media, que comúnmente trabaja en blanco, suele recibir aumentos de sueldo periódicos. Normalmente pierden contra la inflación, pero no la sufren tanto comparado con las clases bajas, que tienen trabajos más informales, muchas veces en negro, y se les hace mucho más difícil alcanzar a la inflación. La capital es mayoritariamente clase media, por eso no vas a ver la peor parte de la crisis en la ciudad.
En cuanto a que la ves mejor, eso empezó a cambiar desde el 2007, cuando empezó a gobernar la ciudad el gobierno actual. El partido se llama PRO, que nació en la capital y ahora es nacional, pero tiene como “base” la capital, y además aprovecha a usarla como ejemplo de “éxito” para promocionarse en el resto del país. La ciudad tiene un buen presupuesto, habría que preguntar a los anteriores gobiernos porque no podían hacer lo mismo. Es innegable que la ciudad está mejor, aunque obviamente hay mucho por mejorar. Pero hablar de política en las redes en Argentina es ir a la guerra, seguro cae alguno a decir que soy un vende patria así de la nada jajaja.

The thing i most hate about Argentina, outside inflation is the rudeness. People here can be too rude and too sexualized. Sometimes is imposible to have a normal talk because everything has a sexual meaning.
Outside of that i love my country, i lived in mexico for 4 years and i will choose again to live here.

Big cities in Argentina just turn to the "faster citizen lifestyle" like the rest of the world but in provinces like Cordoba or Santa Fe well every province except Buenos Aires if you go to a market even pharmacy when you enter, in the past people used to greet say hola buen dia buenas tardes buenas noches to all people there even in trafic people respects each other or if just you just bump with someone accidentally people used to say sorry.People continues help each other but some expressions just don`t use it slightly in big cities and young people don`t care about it even the trash cans with descriptions they don`t read it and just don`t care about that. In smaller cities maybe just be better but that aspect of society it`s annoying. The other concept it`s associate(wrongly) that attitude with poor people but some people thinks that. Even some people just say is because trap culture or politicians(with some ideologies) but i don`t think could be possible ,all people choose how to do the things what do and know why ,isn`t problem of music or economic status.The only thing i`m grateful for is about the people don`t do graffity. I hate what people did with Santiago in Chile i don`t care if was a manifestation ,architecture isn`t guilty of their problems.

Is easy to get, by living in the country 4 years you can get full citizenship. Even people with criminal records can emigrate Freely and people that come ilegally don't get deported (in argentina you only get deported if you commit a serious crime), in the previous goverment inmigrants with criminal records (example Mike Tyson wasnt allowed to come) were banned, but it was lifted since a never passed as law it was just a decreet that the president at the Time passed (básically in argentina presidents can declare decreets of urgency and necessity to stablish any rules they want without the congress intervention).
Argentina was always a country without much migratory control and open migratory policy (there's literally frontiers where you can pass and there's Zero control of any kind). Many Latinoamérican countries deport and ask argentines for visas (and pretty much any european country) but the same never happens in argentina. Personally im proud of that fact, there's xenophobic people but also people that think somebody that emigrated Is More argentinean because they chose to be instead of just being Born in the nation.

We were the Europe of South America, we were the "different ones", the Americans said that we were not the typical lazy native-descendant Latin American, but that we were very rich, prosperous and European, when Europeans immigrated they did not know whether to go to Buenos Aires or New York, We rivaled the USA in being the powers of America, in fact we had very similar mottos, the constitutions were almost identical. We were very libertarians, our Heroes were libertarians and conservatives. The history of Argentina is very sad because from starting out as an economic power and with a lot of European immigration we ended up being almost equal to the South American countries in terms of poverty and political ignorance. It is as if history wanted North America (USA and Canada) to be rich and prosperous and Latin Americans for the simple fact of speaking Spanish, among other things, were poor.

Argentine es un gentilicio igual de válido que argentinean o argentinian son los tres válidos y se pueden usar intercambiablemente según la Oxford university press que sería algo así como el equivalente a la Real academia española en el idioma ingles.
