I knw I'm late to the party, but one thing I love about this series is it really does illustrate how, at a glance, the Typhoon/Tempest and the FW-190 can look so similar. I see now why they painted the "invasion stripes" on the Tiffies starting in mid '42 (I think?)
@Taff In Exile Could you number these episodes? I see you do for some, but not all of your vids, makes it hard sometimes to figure out where to start when you don't And keep up the good work and ... make this a series! Love the Tempest, great to see someone flying it.
Hoorey if you are living in Eindhoven ! Always nice to know that taff was flying above your, later to be, home. (The majority of buildings were completely flattened during WW2 in Eindhoven during market garden)
I'm surprised You survived that crash landing with all that momentum. I was sure when right wing was ripped You've got to roll on the top and just die, but nothing like this happened and somehow pilot survived. For like half of that engagement it felt like You were alone there and casualties in that flight were astonishing when You think how bad things were for Luftwaffe at that time, heck, even that BF that was chasing at the end just crashed for literally no reason other than bad training. Very exciting video. Great Job and congratulations on getting VC but after the fighting You put there, achievement well deserved.
Nice work mate, gettin awarded the Victoria Cross is some feat. I wonder if your pilot will have the initials VC after his name now. If you go to your pilot sheet and go to the medals you've been awarded, you can click on the medals and it gives you a brief summary of what the medal was awarded for historically and how many personnel received it.
9:07 ... In my head I heard the Anno 1800 announcer voice saying "A fire broke out in your city" Another nail-biter Taff, stay safe and healthy and hope to see another one next Friday!
Hi Taff, love most of your vids. My preference is for realistic war action/inaction SH5, Uboat (although not keen on edited streams), RoF, IL-2 B17, etc. excluding Atlantic Fleet. Also enjoyed Bomber Command and Hidden & Dangerous. Basically like your style, please carry on and don't panic. :)
So funny to see you fly from Volkel as I've been there for a fly show. PS: There I learned that Luxemburg has an air force PPS: Ironically the Luxemburgians had the biggest plane attending :-P
Taff - not sure about this but the extra 11lb engine boost might well be for high altitude combat - it may give you no performance advantage at low level and could even be detrimental if it is what I think it is - may be worth checking.
Good skills in flight but a few missed early kill opportunities. I feel that sometimes you hesitate when an opportunity presents itself. At 13:15 there was plenty of time to get a few good hits. Sorry, but still love your game plays, Itry to catch them all.👍
It did look like it. The Germans were running out of experienced pilots by this point in the war so the game might reflect that - some experienced but also some very novice.
I’m loving this series. That was some precision shooting today. Wasted next to no ammo. Impressive.
Graz on the VC, hard won. Enjoying the vids, more please.
Greetings from America! Always a nice midday/lunch break treat when you upload!

Taff: We have Darth Vader on our side everyone!
Me: So are we the baddies?
The last ‘kill’ was great he literally flew his plane into the ground trying to catch you. Determined folk the Germans lol
Almost two weeks later and this Welshman is still mourning the loss of Thomas Thomas.
I hope you are going to rename your channel 'Taff in Exile VC'.
No, not Daniel Jackson! Who will figure out the Stargate symbols now?
He didn't die, he ascended
Not to worry, the squadron has a sarcophagus.

04:57 Every pilots nightmare, being shot down and not being able to bail-out and being burned alive...nasty way to go.
Yikes
It should have been Trevor Jacobs in the cockpit.
Very Good mission, I had no idea were that 190 came from, yep your squadron took a beating. Great video
Loving this series.. awesome stuff Taff

Yes i think you should do a campaign. This is great content for your chanel
nice medals
~12:00 had to be a bad way to go, trapped inside your plane as it slowly spun down out of control.
The seconds must have seemed like hours ...
It'll buff out
the VC on my birthday October 2nd!!

At ~17:55, did one of The pursuing Germans lose control & crash?
It did look like it. The Germans were running out of experienced pilots by this point in the war so the game might reflect that - some experienced but also some very novice.
The V bloody C?? Crikey!
Does the green smoke on the 2nd kill mean anything?
Glycol coolant leak?
Wow yeah could well be. Rather impressed that they modelled it in the game.
Me too
I think white smoke is a hit in the radiator (coolant0 and green is a hit in the fuel system (leaking fuel), Stephen.
Wait I thought the Sabre IIa could only have a maximum of 9lbs of boost
More luck than brains.
i wish these weren't so overpriced
