    Just want to say Tom, you deserve more recognition in the TH-cam tennis game. Your videos consistently help to remind me to pay attention to my fundamentals, while also teaching in a straightforward and consistent manner. My serve has improved immensely, in particular, just by watching your videos and putting in the work with the drills you outline. Thanks and keep it up!

    This should be on the top ten list of most useful tennis videos for recreational players.👍👍

    This is great! I've seen Tom get beginners rallying super quick...and when this happens they love the game more too!

    I’m glad you mention this. Most of your VDOs are all about stroke/swing techniques. At the end of the day, if the player can’t anticipate or track the incoming balls, stoke/swing techniques won’t help. Tennis is not golf!

    • @TomAllsopp
      @TomAllsopp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Golfers would also be wise to develop technique that is appropriate for their skill level and helps them to control the ball, and play the game to the best of their ability.. rather than just imitating pros. I try to promote practical rather than idealistic technique in all my videos. Thanks for the comment

    TH-cam tennis needed this a long time coming…will help more beginners than most of the stuff out there. “Technique is coordination + timing” - awesome. Ps that guy hitting really well for only one year - nice movement backwards.

    Really useful tips. Now everyone wants to hit a Alcaraz forehand but not many people talks about his footwork and ball recognition ability.

    • @TomAllsopp
      @TomAllsopp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yeah the Alcaraz is a bad idea for average players to copy.

      @@karadale5219 would love to hear Tom’s perspective too. And wasn’t sure if Tom means the stroke itself is not ideal to copy, and if so, why? Cheers!

    Your recommendation about using that simple basic stroke is so useful, even for a more advanced player that's warming up. Or when on any given day you just don't "feel" the stroke. It's like you forgot how to hit that forehand or backhand. Go back to that simple fundamental stroke.
    That's gold.
    Piss in the wind?
    I can just here that to the melody of "Dust in the Wind" 🎶.

    Ok, so what Tom brings to instructional tennis is his ability to work with people that are across the ability spectrum. In one video he's talking about getting beginners to learn to rally and have fun and then in another video he's working on division 1 player's serve. I think this is quite unique. I've taken a lot of lessons over my life and his instruction has been a game changer when I signed up for his video analysis. In fact because of Tom for the first time in my life on my forehand I'm starting to use the kinetic chain. Has anyone dropped 80-100 dollars on an in person lesson where all they do is tell you how great you are? Then after you actually didn't improve anything.

    Good stuff. After a lifetime of playing tennis, I spent about two years working on getting into correct position and my game got a lot better. I knew where the ball was going but I wasn't able to position myself correctly.

    Excellent video. It's eye-opening for me as a coach. When I teach my wife tennis, I totally ignore her inability to read the balls, and our focus on hitting the ball just makes it more painful. From another perspective, "pushers" are the ones who has great receiving skill but mediocre sending skill.

    • @TomAllsopp
      @TomAllsopp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment… Not really, if they had great receiving skills they’d be able to rip it. Pushers often do so because they make great decisions that are appropriate for their skill level.

    3:52 I'm one of those who can barely keep this level of consistency at the wall.
    I'm thinking of never setting foot on a tennis court again until I've acquired this ease on the wall.
