Ancient Egyptian Boat Museum - The Khufu Solar Ship

WALKING IN EGYPT: This walk was filmed on January 19th, 2019. Entrance to the museum requires a separate ticket. The Khufu Ship is what is known as a solar barge or solar boat because it was used to carry the resurrected Pharaoh with the Sun god Ra across the heavens. This ancient egyptian ship is more than 4500 years old and is the of the best preserved boats from antiquity. It was discovered in 1954 in a sealed pit next to the Great Pyramid of Khufu. There are a total of seven boat pits in the whole complex of Khufu at Giza. 🎧For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones and listen in 3D audio.
