      You should try KFC in Bangladesh if you ever get the chance, I had it in 2019 and it was mixed. Some stuff tasted similar to the KFC I know and love whereas other dishes were chilli bombed or doused in hot sauce. 😂

    These kind of counterfeit restaurants are usually run by ex workers of big food chains, one of my friends cousin used to work at Burger King here in India but he left the job and started his own food van with similar menu but more tastier and fresh version of it. It was cheaper too.

    In France, at least where I live, there’s two counterfeit restaurants, one seems to be a counterfeit McDo and the other seems to be a counterfeit KFC. The counterfeit McDo is good but more expensive. I haven’t eaten KFC in France yet because it’s too far away from where I live but the counterfeit KFC is pretty good and Deliveroo offers promotions there pretty much all the time so it’s not too expensive.

    It understand what you are doing and it is great, but for me when I go travelling the last place I would go into is any of these fast food chains. I want the real deal of local food. I know you prefer that too, so this is a great watch. While I was in Roatan a MacDonald's had just opened one week before we arrived, I didn't bother even though the locals wanted to take me there. I cooked for them instead and we had a lovely time.

    I’ve tried the original KFC in the US and in other countries as well and they do taste good. However, I live in India and occasionally eat KFC here too and for a fact, Karl is over exaggerating when he says Indian KFC is dry and all sorts. It’s not “dry” in general although sometimes you might get a dry batch. No comments on the flavour as they have to cater to a different taste bud.

    Great video. Although it’s not really fair to call them counterfeit because they are not counterfeiting anything. They may be inspired by KFC and are copying them but counterfeit means they are pretending to be the actual KFC. In this case, they are not. Similar colors etc but the name doesn’t claim to be KFC, it’s KKFC even with a different bird logo. They aren’t trying to trick anyone, they are trying to directly compete and replace another food chain which is fair game. Keeps big food chains on their toes and offers a healthy amount of competition.

    I believe someone will like the original KFC if that's the KFC that they ate when they were growing up or if someone from India/Nepal started living in a country that had original KFCs and grew to like it. KFCs in India and Nepal are not willing to take that chance. They don't want someone trying the original KFC once and not liking it and never returning again. It took me a while to get used to the original KFC. I remember making fun of that "11 herbs and spices" slogan because all I could taste was the salt...but over time, during further attempts at clogging my arteries, I began to love the taste of the original KFC. "Too much flavor" was the most direct yet insightful thing someone from the west has told me about South Asian food. Western palates don't want too much going on with their food.

  • @22Hammy
    @22Hammy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    the reason the KFC is spicy over there is because they know thats what people over there like. its all a business strategy. go to any KFC in the world and the food they serve will be tailored for the people of that region. Thats the whole point. its not a mistake

    Excellent video. If I ever go to India or Nepal (which I very much want to do, but it will never happen), I am not going to either real or counterfeit KFC. I don't eat that here. That food is not good for somebody at my age, and even young people should do it only rarely, if at all. The preparation of simple food does less harm to the world. What does suit me is roti, dal/chole/etc, and a sabji. A cup of tea with elaichi at the end is heaven. That would be what I would seek out in India or Nepal. What I like to imagine is that is easy to come by in those countries. Seeing KFC and such food spread from the US to other countries, is a little depressing. Whatever, I guess people there like it, and joy to them. Maybe it is exotic and fun every now and then. @borngeek has a good explanation as to why the counterfeit is better. As to why steal branding, I think it is for easy recognition, which will get more people in the door. Also, red catches people's eye more readily than other colors.
