Treasures of Plantz Oh, hello there George. 🙈🙈Yes, we do - mostly succulents and scented perennials, such as Wisteria and roses (but we only started with these, since we just moved here). Next on our list are different sort of berries. What do you collect? By the way, we collect all sorts of bulbs and tubers. Can’t help it!
We had a couple of almost summer days (around 20 degrees C), so we got our Hippeastrums outside. They get completely outside normally in the 2nd half of May, but sometimes even a month earlier (like last year).

We normally get bulbs, seeds you can usually get from private growers and collectioners. Only a few reputable companies are specialized in seeds, such as rareplants.es

Loved all your Hippeastrum, they really make a nice show. Funny enough I bought Gervasse and Lady Jane last year, and just like yours my Lady Jane seems to be very vigorous already flowering while Gervase is still deep in her sleep. It was nice to know of another breeder, not only the mainstream large scale ones, wish he would ship to Costa Rica.

That would be quite okay for Hippeastrum, especially if you can protect them from the most intense afternoon sun and prolonged rainy periods

How does grand diva compare to black pearl, royal velvet and benfica? Which one is darker and larger?
Black Pearl does not exist, it is just a commercial name (usually Red Pearl is sold under this name). From these, the biggest blooms will have Grand Diva and Red Pearl, the darker would be Benfica

Im located in the US, amaryllis are a lil bit expensive but I am still trying to have my own collection. I like yours 👍👍👍👍👍
If you can, get the true Royal Velvet (most of the time it would be something else), otherwise I would definitely get Gran Diva

An NPK of 8 5 5, with traces of copper and zink. Heavy rains might be too much water. Do you use big pots?
@@BulbinABox Well as of now I plant all the bulbs in a rectangular plastic container, with a spacing of a few inches in between. And I have 4 container, one can fit around 10 bulbs. So I need to reduce the water? They like it dry? (BTW, thanks for replying. It's really nice to get to talk to someone about hippeastrum)
They certainly do not like to be wet. Perhaps your bulbs are too crowded, the more in a pot you have, the more fertilizer you have to give them

Esha Adhikary Thank you! Now we use bigger pots, usually 6 l, but it all depends on the bulb size and on the variety. If you use smaller pots, then we recommend changing the soil every year

We do hope our videos help people, that’s the whole purpose! While we do have extensive knowledge about bulbs, corms and tubers, we also love to learn new techniques and tricks from other growers.
p.s. We’ll let you know once our Dahlia Care video is out, which might be only in July. This spring it’s still cold, but we hope it will “summer up” soon, so Dahlias and other summer flowering bulbs start blooming!

They succumbed , twilt and die. Stem still healthy.
Another flower bloom after 3 weeks, lasts less than a week, twilt and die.
I plant them in pots, provided with reasonable sun and water.
I noticed healthy lasting flowers when planted in-ground, as I drive around.
Are the bulbs okay, e.g. still hard?

Bulbs ok and still hard all year round.
So you meant the flowers themselves, not the plant overall. Keep watering it and once it grows leaves, start fertilizing it
