    Huge respect for firefighters.

    I am amazed at the average age of the fire-fighting vehicles here and the small volume of the water transport vehicles. It all seems rather dated except (of course) the vehicles of executives. This makes my appreciations for the fire fighters only bigger!

      The oldest truck in the video is due to be replaced very, very soon; however they are looked after well. As for the off-road vehicles, if they were larger and carried more water there is possibilities their roles could be hindered, however i'm not entirely sure. Though Royal Berkshire's 6x6 water carrier has been bogged down in mud and needed to be towed out on previous occasions due to it's size and weight.

      Hopefully you're right, but they're still all older vehicles that have to be worked with. I also continue to find the contents of the water vehicles very limited. By the way, thanks for your response.

    How much of the availlable appliances were "drained"/used in this incident? Or otherwise: was it possible to still cover area for other incidents?

    • @ukemergencyvideos3335
      @ukemergencyvideos3335  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multiple standbys were sent across Hampshire and Surrey where fire cover was depleted due to the incident so that target response times could still be met. So yes cover was still available.

    Surrey did well to crew this many appliances. A simple bin fire usually destroys their ability to respond.

      I agree! However, they do appear to have better availability when compared to a year or so ago, but some wholetime trucks are still off the run most days.

      On my own patch, Merseyside, we had a MP18 shout which required mutual aid from Lancs county, Greater Manchester and Cheshire county. Cheshire were responding to a largish job in Chester so they had to mobilise retained pumps from all over. We had a Cheshire retained pump come almost 35 miles from right on the Staffordshire border to standby at Speke. Speke are first response to supplement the John Lennon airport fire service, so they were a bit apprehensive in case they got a job at the airport.
