Gelinna, if I may, I would like to offer you this, especially as a young person who is just starting her career. At 53, I know exactly where you are. My goal is to become a Life, Career, and Transition Coach. Here's the thing. In life, you are going to have hobbies, jobs, a vocation, and a career. The latter two are the purpose and passion that are going to get you out of bed in the morning. They are your calling. All of us have to have a job because we live in a monetary system in which goods and services are exchanged for money. So we all have to have a job. And over the course of your lifetime, you may have many jobs, which of which you will not love. And that's okay as long as your exploring and try out new things that take you in the direction in which you ultimately want to go. The thing to remember is that your job's sole purpose is to supply you with the money to invest in your dreams and get you where you want to go. And your degree doesn't limit you to just one field. Apply for jobs that are going to move you closer to where you want to be. Don't just apply for jobs that you think you can get. There's a great book called Designing Your Work Life that I would highly recommend you buy off of eBay. Decide what you want and use all of the tools that you have at your disposal to get there. Hey fam, wanted to post something for anyone else who is here to see if this series is a legit method of studying for CompTIA exams. I'm 26, 2 year degree in cyber security, 10 years experience in IT, 5 of those 10 spent in a professional environment. Currently working as an IT professional at a school. Most of my school was done on Windows 7, so a lot of what I was taught is obsolete. COVID is changing the industry and accelerating IT demand, so I want to be ready for those senior positions that open up or are created, even post-COVID. Going back to basics, I'm here and trying to tack on certs to my resume to stay competitive, and I plan to take advantage of any technological resources while I work remotely. I'll check back in a few days and let you all know how it's going.
I'd recommend dissecting your own laptop after watching this video if you have one; helps solidify the learning, especially after being traumatised by a seemingly impenetrable Toshiba laptop.
@@LionLion-zb8jo I did the test and failed without revising and got 447. Doing the test again in December. Just a warning. Those performance base questions catch ppl out. Make sure you get most if not all of them right.
@@LionLion-zb8jo Yeah it’s a simulator, I’d recommend finding examples online and revising them before you do the exam, they really do catch people out. I got 3 of them right, 2 wrong. Not going to tell you what it was exactly but it was something I had no knowledge on.
I, like many others do appreciate these videos Professor Messer. I am currently studying your content again after I was using your 901 & 902 videos as study guides last year. Of course, life takes a different route sometimes so I had to cease my studies. However, I am on the road of wanting to study again and I appreciate what you do and will be studying your material intensely along with purchasing the 1001 and 1002 series CompTIA A+ book when it releases at the end of 4/30. Since later on in the year will be my first attempt at the test, can you provide any advice for a first time test taker of the CompTIA series? Respectfully, Mike T.

Once I get to 3.5 (or somewhere around there) I’m going to buy his notes and practice test. How far into the process are you?
To anyone who has obtained their A+ certification, I wanted to ask if I can pass by just using Prof. Messers' videos or if I have to buy a book to help alongside these videos. If it's the latter, what book do you recommend? I appreciate any/all responses.
Silly question, but what does upgradeable exactly mean? Ive always thought replacing and upgrading are the exact same thing so I was slightly confused when the CPU slide mentioned "replaceable but not upgradeable".
Replacing means swapping out a CPU with the exact same specification. If your CPU goes bad, you'll need to replace the chip. Likewise, if you have to replace the motherboard, you can move the CPU over from the old motherboard to the new one. Upgrading the CPU would be swapping it out for a higher-performing or faster CPU. Most laptops aren't designed to provide the ability to upgrade a CPU.
I'm so happy that Prof. Messer has made all of this availiable! i have been stuggling to find somone who speaks clear english and covers everything from step a-z.....I'm 25 and have wanted to do something IT related eventually i want to get me CompTIA Pentest+ and my C|EH but im going through a+ Network+ security+ then the pentest+ and finally C|EH but i definitely want to get into a job earlier and get more hands on experience.
Thank you very much for the crammed info of laptop hardware. Luckily I have a laptop from 2014, so I'll proceed with hands on training or tinkering with it.
I’m a 31 year old store manager for a retail auto parts store. Last week I decided I am getting out of auto parts and going to go for a career in IT. This is my first true day of studying. If the rest of these objective based videos are in the same format as this, I believe it will be an easy task to pass the A+ test. I look forward to watching all of these videos, Reddit community speaks very highly of them as well. I will likely also buy the notes of Professor website as well as go through the 10th edition Myers book I got from amazon today. I am excited to start this.
I would not waste my time with the Myers book. Watch Messer and Myer's video courses instead. You will understand it better. And get Jason Dions practice exams on Udemy. If you do all this, you should pass.
I am starting my journey into IT. I'm using this, his other videos on the "big 3" and I am paying for the google cert. I hope against hope that all of this will get me into IT and that I can go back to college, challenge some courses, and get the degree all the HR bots want.
Hey Prof...It is with absolute excitement that i get to share how your videos have helped me score 761 on my 220-1001 exam. Thank you profusely for doing the Lords work.We really appreciate it
I've started studying for A+ and these videos are helpful. I'm planning to use these videos, plus Mike Meyers videos and book, plus CBT Nuggets, plus an Exam Cram book by David Prowse. I wonder if that will be enough?
question, does anyone recommend the official comptia A+ study guide? i purchased my voucher for 1001 and it came with the Ebook. Already I'm having trouble following the exam objectives because lesson one is talking about exam obj 3.5 and lesson 9 is actually in line with 1.1 lol.
Auto-switching AC adapter, meaning that it can switch from 120 to 240 VAC automatically. I read this in Prowse's book. In your video, it says 110 to 220 volts. Could you please guide me here?
The exact upper and lower ranges will be specific to the power supply, but they all cover the entire range from 120 V to 240 V, and usually just a little bit more for good measure.
can someone please explain the resolution of the screen being fixed, does it mean that the screen of the laptop can not be made smaller or larger because it can be physically made larger or smaller. I'm confused because its been said the resolution is fixed are we talking about the number of pixels being fixed or the actual laptop screen size, because it kind of contradicts that resolution is fixed if we can change it.
professor messer, I'm a bit confused by what you explained between auto-switching and fixed input, what exactly is the difference between them? Is it that auto-switching power supply can be used on many types of laptops with more range of compatibility while fixed input is limited by 110v/220v?
I love your videos but am trying to follow along with Mike Meyers A+ book. By chance can you reference the chapter in the book for each of the video segments? I am 100% new to this. I am taking a prep class at my local college also. I'll take all the help I can get!! :=)
I just passed the SEC+ 501 and was wondering if its worth getting A+ at this point. I know some places prefer certain certifications over the other but is it necessary to have A+ and Network+ as well.
Hey Professor Messer, I have a question. In the video you described the 1.8 inch form factor of SSD as being an older version and not that common in current laptops because the form factors are able to get smaller and smaller in laptops, and this confused me because wouldn't the 2.5 inch form factors be the older version and the 1.8 inch form factor be the new version because the 1.8 inch is the smaller form factor?

@@Noahvirtualvault I do plan to do security plus at some point. I have not tried to land any jobs yet because I am still a full time college student in my net admin program.
No Commentary oh cool I wish you good luck, I’ll be taking my a+ network+ and security+ sometime in 2 weeks after midterm. I’m also full time student studying computer science
Did you pass just watching these videos or you used more materials?
Studying for this certification has been on my bucket list for awhile. I’m currently learning to code also.
I’m also learning both this and coding. 🙂
I’ve been studying for a bit so I have exam objectives pulled up and I will read A+ for dummies and trying to watch all of Messer videos pertaining to those objectives plus I try to quiz myself and go over the flashcards on Quizlet
Thank you Professor Messer. I'm getting getting ready to take the core 1. This is helping.
Heard great things about Prof. Messer. Got A+ exams coming up, gonna go crash course this weekend!
Thank you Professor Messer

Thanks for providing all of this information for free.

I’m starting with this bc my teacher gave me a 2012 ComTIA A+ version and it’s now been almost a decade since we used that type of computers so
Just started studying today, looking forward to watching all these videos and getting prepared to hopefully land an IT Job in the future!
What was your outcome?
Updates?

Amazing video and even more amazing explanation! Thank you for showing us hardwer and making it even easier to understand :)
I'd recommend dissecting your own laptop after watching this video if you have one; helps solidify the learning, especially after being traumatised by a seemingly impenetrable Toshiba laptop.
Beginning to a more fulfilling future begins today. Thank you Professor
God bless you. Helping all of us out like this? God bless you.
Been studying since October and will take my exam core 1 next Friday, 12/4/2020. wish me luck!
What resources have you been using ?
@@LionLion-zb8jo I did the test and failed without revising and got 447. Doing the test again in December. Just a warning. Those performance base questions catch ppl out. Make sure you get most if not all of them right.
@@brannywanny4533 ooof. Performance based is a simulator? Like describe the trouble shooting process?
@@LionLion-zb8jo Yeah it’s a simulator, I’d recommend finding examples online and revising them before you do the exam, they really do catch people out. I got 3 of them right, 2 wrong. Not going to tell you what it was exactly but it was something I had no knowledge on.
@@brannywanny4533 so update. I failed with a 643. Youre right, the simulator got me. Here's to the second time of trying! Haha
Youre the man Professer Messer! Thank you again!
Thank you ! all basics about laptop refreshed
I'm glad I'm watching these videos :) thank you professor you are refreshing my memory :)
Respectfully,
Mike T.

Starting these videos today and aiming to pass the 1001 course within the next few months.. Let's hope it works out :)
To anyone who has obtained their A+ certification, I wanted to ask if I can pass by just using Prof. Messers' videos or if I have to buy a book to help alongside these videos. If it's the latter, what book do you recommend? I appreciate any/all responses.
Great course! Thank you for that!
Day 1 lesson 1 in the books! Thanks for the videos!

Starting my A+ certification journey today.
Loving the videos so far. I'm also going to buy the notes, thank you :)
I am starting my journey into IT. I'm using this, his other videos on the "big 3" and I am paying for the google cert. I hope against hope that all of this will get me into IT and that I can go back to college, challenge some courses, and get the degree all the HR bots want.

Are the notes on screen good study material or should i take them off what he says?

I've started studying for A+ and these videos are helpful. I'm planning to use these videos, plus Mike Meyers videos and book, plus CBT Nuggets, plus an Exam Cram book by David Prowse. I wonder if that will be enough?
I think this should be more than enough, how is your training going on , did you able to clear the exam ?
Wish all laptop fans were that easy to get to...

question, does anyone recommend the official comptia A+ study guide? i purchased my voucher for 1001 and it came with the Ebook. Already I'm having trouble following the exam objectives because lesson one is talking about exam obj 3.5 and lesson 9 is actually in line with 1.1 lol.
Idk about that one, but I'm using Exam Cram CompTIA A+ Core 1 & 2. Has all exam objectives in order with a Cram Quiz at the end of each chapter.
Why do you use only two screws when the hard drive has four screw openings?
Does 'form-factor' mean 'what the thing looks like'?
The form factor refers to the size and shape of the object.

@@ace-x6m I've heard that Security+ is the hardest one. I guess it's mostly memorizing a bunch of port numbers.
No the 2.5 is able to hold more memory. 1.8 is capped.
