I wish I could take speech therapy, I'm a 16 year old boy who is unable to pronounce my Rs I wish the guy in the video could help me, but I'm alone on my journey. Thank you for showing the guy very inspiring.
Two of my kids have issues with R, there are some tricks out there that can help with the sounds. For my kids, some of it was just tongue strengthening, like pushing a lollipop to the roof of their mouth with their tongue. There are videos online and if anyone can assist you, there is a program called the world of r that has helped my kids.
One aspect of SLP I acknowledge is that with younger children there seems to be a lot of tactile interaction on the face and mouth. Some children may not enjoy having their faces touched or muddled with and so maybe using solely modulation objects and imitation would compensate. There are pathologists who leave periods that are too short between the child's input and the speaking pathologist or infer multiple vowel or consonant sequences at an unfitting speed.
I'm thankful for speech therapy. When i was younger i had a big speeking problem. I had trouble with r, s, and t's. As well as a big stuttering problem. So if my speech therapist end up reading this thank you for all you did. Ps. For some reason people tend to think i'm british?
I used to be in speech until the 3rd grade. 4th grade was the first year I didn't have to do it. Whenever I had to go to speech, it was fun for me. Its crazy how I'm going to graduate next year
Reading helps immensely! Watch TV/movies in English, expose yourself as much as you can to the English language and you will get there! Keep on practicing :)
I’m not sure why but I can’t speak very well. I work as a cashier at a busy grocery store. I purposely chose this job to challenge myself and get better. Whenever I ask “Hi, how are you doing today?” Or “hey how’s it going?” I notice I have to slow down or that I can’t speak very loudly. If I go too fast it just sounds like gibberish. And it’s not like I’m trying to speak too fast. It’s just that when I try to speak at the same rate as others I lose my ability to pronounce words correctly. I also have a hard time remembering what words to connect to form a sentence that can communicate my thoughts. I’m not sure if it’s because I learned Spanish and English at the same time growing up or if it’s because I was selectively mute throughout 85%-90% of my school career. As hard as it may be to believe, many of my higher ups think I’d be a good supervisor despite my speech issues. I’m having second thoughts though because it feels kinda weird that they’d think I’d make a good leader. I mean I’m not even sure if my speech is getting better.
Hey ... i am from india .. i am having A speech problem in letter s. My tongue is very tensed ,it came out from my mouth when i say the letter s ..... when i tried to put it in it sound very stupid.. Can u help me ?
I have a question maybe you can answer: If our vocal folds do not vibrate when we whisper, then how can we still hear and feel the difference between voiced and voiceless sounds when we whisper them? I can totally hear and feel the difference S vs. Z, P vs. B and G vs. K when I whisper them
It actually doesnt vibrate when we whisper try to whisper a word that has a Z and try to whisper a word that has an R if you do it quietly and whispery the vocal folds won’t vibrate
@@ramahattab2978 I know our vocals folds don't vibrate, that's exactly what I said. In order for you to try to answer my question you have to read it more carefully.
I can’t find a video for those with severe hearing loss, I can hear others speech except my own in public. I do wish my speech therapist would be someone who went through the same thing, not those with normal hearing, it is a lot harder for those with hearing loss.
Hi @roger reyes! I’m a Speech Language Pathology graduate student. Do you currently have an audiologist? If you are having difficulty hearing, that would be your number one option so that they may evaluate your hearing and provide you with the best solution.
Xavier Wrecks Hi, undergraduate was not difficult for me but graduate school is definitely a challenge. The classes aren’t necessarily “hard” but I do find it difficult to balance clinic, classes and my part time job. Our field is so rewarding! As stated in the video, we are in high demand so you will always have a job and you’ll never get bored due to the diverse populations that we work with. I definitely think that you should give it a shot!
I have a cleft palate and 18 years old thing are getting worst i've already have my second operation which is to cover the hole between my nose and my mouth even me sometime i dont understand my words is there still a chance for me to speak normal by consulting to speech therapy?? Because some of the doctors said that its too late for me to speak normal because i was 17 when my operation was?
Start by practicing the "s" sound in isolation. There are free resources online for correct placement and manner of articulation for any sound! Then work your way up to the "s" sound with a vowel, then you can practice at the word level, and so on until you can produce the sound in conversation! Keep practicing my friend, can do it!
