I used the 4x9 twice. Once for a 725 mile trip and once for a 350mile trip. Never had an issue... they are smooth. My only complaint, is uhaul itself, these are local rental only. So, I had to drag that trailer both times round trip. Would be simpler if they did like all their other rentals... grab it somewhere and drop it off somewhere else.

5 x 9! never got the choice, went with the 4 x 9, but it worked out well. Check the tires they could be bad, U-Haul seems to run them until they shred

All of the UHaul “MT” 4x9 trailers I have gotten have the little golf cart tires & wheels, and they limit the rental to “In Town” only. I have never seen, nor does my UHaul web searching given me the option of the taller wheel / tire on a 4x9. The 5x9 ramp trailers with the spring loaded assist ramp have the tall sides and with 14” or taller tires are true highway use. But the 5x9 trailer is so heavy that your gas mileage is going to kill you.
    Safe travels!

I agree with you... its for in town use, however I did a round trip 400 Miles in one day and I was doing at least 80! NO PROBLEMS! You have to know how to tie down the bike (Search SRK CYCLES how to tie a bike video)

The older MT trailers have the little Carlisle 20x8.5-10 (basically, snowmobile trailer) tires. Newer ones use the same 205/75D14 tires as the rest of U-Haul's trailers. They do not differentiate the trailers, you get what the location has-though I haven't seen one with the 10" wheels in a few years.

5x9 can be rented one way. Uhaul told me the 4x9 is not a one way rental? 5 X 9 IS robust.

The shorter trailer has virtually no suspension. Consequently, the tie down straps take a bit hit while traveling long distance. I had to constantly tighten them and a few times there was a big lean factor on the bike. I was towing a Harley Ultra. Go for one that has suspension to absorb road conditions

It has the same suspension as the larger one...which is the problem, because it's too stiff for the weight.

What trailer is good for two motorcycles? I saw your 6x12 review but weren't clear if it could haul two bikes or not.

I would not put two bikes on this trailer. It is set up for only one bike.

Based on gross weight this trailer could haul 2 bikes, but it really depends how you can strap them in, since the D rings are limited. Ive seen two dirtbikes or two sportbikes in the bed of a F150, and this trailer is larger.

It is not set up naturally to haul two bikes because it has that front tire spot. Based on gross weight you could haul 2 bikes but that depends on the bikes.

I hauled 2 Suzuki 250's both facing foward with plenty of room in a 5x9.

@@PismoBobI plan on using the 4x9 to haul my bike as well as my buddys triumph, both smaller cruisers. They will fit and work fine. My only issue is I'm towing with my accord. 😮
