As an architect this was how Xenakis designed Philip’s Pavilion. He used the same rules/laws of “continuity.” And as a result the structure of Philip’s Pavilion as hyperbolic paraboloid was very successful, and shocked engineers at the time! Xenakis said when they were erecting Philip’s Pavilion he felt as he were watching the sound “Metastaseis” emerging from the ground. Therefore, I am saying “Philip’s Pavilion is a frozen “Metastaseis.”
I always considered thet the Belgian Government / admisiration took a very wrong decision in keeping ip the atomium -rhe maintenance of which costs now a lot to the German taxpayer - and to delete the Philips pavllion by Le Corbusier and Xenakis, with the specially designed music by Varese ("poème électronique) , xhich should have costed musch aless, and could be now for instance a centre for modern art. This is typical of political decisions based upon "prestige" symbols without any long term vision. But Belgium should not be pointed at. Every country makes similar maistakes. Belgium is iindeed a democratic country, but wisely minded simple citizens would have probably made a better choice
Maravilhoso!!!
The opening sounds like the better version of the THX logo theme - when will this be incorporated in the beginning of movies?? Great score upload by the way!
@Teemu H. No Xenakis in any of Kubrick's movies. He uses Ligeti and Penderecki, both whom are influenced by Xenakis but have completely different styles to Xenakis.
Depends on the piece, xenakis is sometimes better than mozart both musically and structurally and sometimes the other way around, obviously comparing this to a random sonata by Mozart is impossible, but overall both composer have their best piece and their worst piece
@@dimitristsekeris1821 yes, I’ve heard it before. It’s actually quite nice. However, I don’t see how that shows that Mozart was worse than Xenakis. (even though making a comparison between two vastly different composers is not a good idea)
Not exactly borrow, since the writing techniques he uses are very different, but he certainly was influenced by Xenakis' ideas on writing big masses of sound and their progressive transformation.
He was influenced by Xenakis and actually taught Metastasis in his university lectures but Ligeti's music and methods are completely individual, he doesn't go around trying to rip off Xenakis.
that wood block is terrifying

It didn't shock engineers. It's perfectly obvious to a civil engineer that it would.

Simply a masterpiece. An absolute masterpiece.

Bravo.

Mozart was literally writing songs and humorous poems about poop. Xenakis was just a great intellectual.
@@dimitristsekeris1821 seriously?
@@Anonymous-wj6bu Yes. He wrote a composition named "Lick me in the a$$".

The equivalent of abstract art.
Did Ligeti borrow from this?

@@GuilhermeCarvalhoComposert's right. Ligeti Requiem is a son of this piece. Without any doubt.
Well it’s not Mozart.
