Another great episode ! @16:40 and beyond ,was there a reason or reasons why the 3-bedroom side was built almost all the way to the top whiles the 2 -bedroom side is not ? Also @17:50, the back of the building....did you use 5" or 6" for the envelope ? My guess is 5" plus plastering...was that effective to completely hide the pvc pipes as seen in the picture ? If the pvc pipes do not go through the blocks at all, how are they hidden from view ? Thank you.
Indecision on our part is the answer to you first question. It cost me a lot of research time to figure out how BEST to join the two bedroom side. I will share how we did it when we get to that episode You guessed right. All blocks were 5" and pvc pipes were 4" and 3" so all were completely hidden with no problem
Its not gonna be of so much help since the cost of materials keep changing weekly in ghana. when fuel prices go up, everything goes up. l cant believe 1 litre of petrol is almost 1 u.s. dollar
Hi Lerwincel, I really appreciate your videos. You present very detail info and useful hints; exactly what I’ve been looking for. You’re in the US, I assume? I’m in the US and will be building in Accra, early part of this year. Comparing your costs (materials and labor) to what I have from quantity surveys for my design, it seems I’ll be paying too much. Can I consult with you outside of this platform at some point? Please let me know, so I can send you my contact info. Thanks for the videos!
I am not in the US. You can contact me by email. The email address is under the "About" tab of the channel. The next episode will also discuss how u can reach us
I would like to know why you always erect the pillars first before the block works. If you do it the other way round( block works before pillar) is it advisable? Why pillars first. Thanks
What rod sizes did you use for your columns and also the rebar rod sizes for your floor 2 slab. I will also like to know the inches of the concrete slab.
Column and beams = 16mm All slabs except water tank area = 11.5mm Water tank slab = 14mm as main bar (bars under) and 11.5mm as distribution bars (bars on top)
You can do the block work in bits with no problem. You will notice from the dates in the price list how long we took to complete the block work. The only thing which is better to do at a go is the concrete slab/decking
Is it better go get a machine to make ur blocks. And can u use 6 inch for the ground and first floor, but the first floor 6 inch hallowed or is the 5 inch better?
A very good question about the block molding. I forgot to capture that in Ep 10 so i will reference your question as a VIP comment in the next episode. It is better to use 6inch hollow cos i presume your walls will be load bearing
My name is Abdul i will be grateful if i can get your email i will also want you to refer me to some of the materials (books or website) you lent all this information on thank you.
For contact email check Episode 6 onward.

Absolutely love your narrations and analysis!... please Keep the cost ledgers coming lololol. Learning a lot ... starting my project soon
We love your videos, very informative and educational, Thanks for the insight!
Great advice on how to bargain for the labour cost
We would definitely love to have a stripped back version of your excel sheet as a guide to budgeting and keeping up with expenses.
Okay, I will capture that in the next Episode
Did you draw the plan yourself or an architect drew it. Amazing how such a big structure has been constructed on one plot. Great work 👏.
Yes, I designed it myself but I still needed an architect and engineer to get my building permit. Check Episode 1 for details

@@Lerwincel Thanks, will contact you.
Didn’t find the email address in the “About” tab. Could you add it? Thanks!
Yes, Episode 6 has it towards the end
I just subscribed
I was asking for excel templates and not your figures. But its cool
Oops, my bad! I will reference you in the next video with a response

I will explain in the next video to be uploaded this week.

Column and beams = 16mm
All slabs except water tank area = 11.5mm
Water tank slab = 14mm as main bar (bars under) and 11.5mm as distribution bars (bars on top)
Concrete slab is 6 inches
Can you pay slowly when you doing the
FIRSTFLOor RROOFING & CEILING block or you need to do it immensely same day

Please, what should be the mixing ratio for the block molding, thanks.
Interestingly they mix it without any definite ratio, yet they always get it right. I guess it's a result of years of experience
Please can i get the contact of the of the guys who did the moulding of your blocks
I got them online so I don’t have the number. Look up jiji Gh or tonaton for contacts
Please can you put out the number of each iron rod used?
If by number you mean the quantities per tonne then you will find the answer in Episode 2
Hiiiii, pls how many quantities of wood did you use in the decking ?
My response to your other question should suffice for this also
Who did you use to draw plans? How much did it cost for the plans?
Check out Episode 1 for all your answers
How much did cost for the second floor concrete slab and the foundation slab.
Foundation in Episode 2 and 2nd floor in Episode 5
Please how much is the cost and of casting and flooring
Episode 8 provides that for the 2 bedroom first floor. Future episodes will also breakdown the cost for each process so watch out
My brother, what is the size of your land please? I want to use your plan.
100 x 70 feet. Check Episode 2 for plan details
Wondering the total cost of the entire project to this stage
I will capture that in the next vdeo
