Welcome back to my channel! In today's lesson, we'll dive into drawing a weathered wooden fruit box using 2-point perspective. This is the first part of our basic shapes series, focusing on the cube.
I'll guide you step-by-step through the process of setting up your perspective lines, adding realistic texture to the wood, and shading to create a 3D effect. We'll also create a floor and wall in 1-point perspective to enhance the depth of our scene.
Towards the end of the video, I'll share four quick sketches of cubes found in everyday life, including:
City buildings
A simple chair
A die
An ichi go masu (Japanese wooden sake cup)
Materials Needed:
Drawing paper
Pencils (H, HB, 2B)
Eraser
Ruler
Colored pencils or markers (optional)
By the end of this video, you'll have a detailed drawing of a weathered fruit box and a deeper understanding of perspective drawing. Even the simplest objects can be incredibly beautiful when you take the time to really observe them.

This looks like so much fun. Using the horizon line off paper makes such a difference and I can see how this will be invaluable when stacking boxes at different angels. This is great, thank you Mr. Coxon.
