I think on frames its worth it, cuz its gonna be a nasty, messy job regardless, and you're pressure washing it anyways. Until those laser rust removers get more affordable, all options are kind of a messy pain. Again, thanks for the vids! You're a huge inspiration, and a bit of an enabler for those of us with a tendency to collect projects 😂
Just saving old metal is how I look at it no matter what it is. I think I told you I'm in the middle of restoring a 1965 1200 40hp VW engine I got for 50 bucks. Had a blown piston but everything else looks like an old lady drove it. All the measurements look good still and the case has no corrosion or cracks. It's like Forest Gump "It's like a box of Chocolate, you never know what you'll get." The frame on your truck looks really good. Nice to have a good base to work up from.
I don't think there was ever a final video on either of those. I don't remember a final video on Rusty, the VW van, either. There is not much closure on this channel. The Swamp Dragon never got finished either, at least not on the channel.
@@CTmoog I saw that. But, you don't have any closure on your projects. Do a video of you selling a done project. Or do a video showing you taking a done vehicle to a car show or something. I remember wanting to see you and Rusty at a car show. All we got was a video of you test driving Rusty. Then poof. Gone.
He already had the swamp dragon ford pickup he never finished. If he does happen to finish either of these two trucks he’ll probably mix the parts up. Dude never finishes anything just tear it apart and go to the next vehicle. He would be great working as a junkyard parts puller
Great , finally access to the chassis ! You can get rid of that rost and get this working horse back on the road again .👍 For the bigger patrs , I'm a fan of that griding wheel ( disk )
I once painted an old boat trailer with Rustoleum paint and painted some duck-boat paint on top of that. The boat was also painted with duck-boat paint too.
"She" looks salvageable to me, certainly more so than some of the other projects you have taken on. I don't see how you manage to juggle all of them. There must be at least 3 other ones in work process. But it is fun. Thanks, John
Yes, it's not too bad. The idea with this one was to get it back on the road as soon as possible...but it needs everything...the engine is seized, the transmission is bad, the brakes and suspension, etc.....I have 3 projects in the works at the moment. 914, Ghia & this red truck. The Swamp Dragon is a pipe dream at this point but it could be brought back in the future. I sold Rusty and the Beetle is basically done. Just needs some glass and a few other items. Going forward my goal is to focus on one build at a time. It is a bit overwhelming to keep up with everything.
both...I've sold some and I keep some. I still have the 1965 VW Beetle, 1967 VW Karmann Gia, 1976 Porsche 914, 1968 Ford F250, 1985 Ford Bronco, 1974 Ford F250 "Swamp Dragon" and maybe some others I forgot about...hahah! =)
Looks good so far .that bumper not factory ..i would use the factory in cab tank.never had a issue with them ..i ve had good results using a marine industrial grade metal primer.
If it was me i might upgrade the mudflaps and the rear bumper but I would leave mudflaps on the truck and have you checked your local Facebook marketplace location for a decent steel flatbed that you can make fit the truck?!
If you completely disassemble the F250, then remove the rust from the frame, complete the cab and the loading area. Repaint the frame and the entire structure. Patina or not, if that's it then that's it. After the downtime and the effort you have already made, it deserves to be rebuilt. The advantage would be that you no longer have to be there to set it up.
I want to see someone take one of these long beds, put a short bed on the frame and extend the cab to make it into an extended cab short bed modern type truck or even a 4 door truck, that to me would be super cool.
You're referring to the Supercab and Crew Cab trucks... Ford made both of those in various years with the Crew Cab trucks running the longest of the two. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. Best wishes! - Max Giganteum
Ct sir remember that the 64-76 ford 250-450 trucks and maybe some of the bigger ones that were equipped with like a 10-14ft flatbed usually got the same late 40's mid 50's early ford script stamped flatbeds wouldn't that look cool on this truck...
I have both tanks, never smelled fuel in the cab for one second. Minimal points it could leak a smell, very very easy and cheap to fix if it does. The way these guzzle gas, two tanks is best.
Consider this idea. Galvanized corrugated roofing welded over existing bed floor. You could also prime it and paint it same color to match. I would recommend you use double sheets to make it thicker.
Few reasons this would be problematic but the main is you are asking for accelerated rust. Sandwiched metal with plenty room for dirt and water to get between them = rust city
Do you ever finish a project?
not usually....hahah! =)
I love those old Ford trucks! I can’t believe how expensive they are now. It’s nice that you’re able to get parts for them so easily now.
Get one of those pressure washer sand blaster kits for cleaning up the frame. Always looking forward to your videos!
Yes, those are cool! I have one laying around somewhere....I don't like messing around with sandblasting anymore. It's too messy.

There goes another one that won't be put back together
hopefully this one will go back together...that's the plan anyway...
Do whatever you like. It’s your channel. And it’s a free country!
Thank you! =)

Hey Tim! yes, this one is going to be real nice! Can't wait to see your vw engine running. Good luck on the build.
So what happened to the VW bug and the Porsche? Did you move on and I missed that video or what?
I don't think there was ever a final video on either of those. I don't remember a final video on Rusty, the VW van, either. There is not much closure on this channel. The Swamp Dragon never got finished either, at least not on the channel.
check out the first drive on the 1965 VW Beetle! It was awesome! =)

interesting....never heard of "duck boat paint".....
Another project teardown that will never get finished.
Thanks John...haha! =) I guess you didn't watch the 65 beetle project. Pretty close to being done I would say! =) I this the "JB" that I know?
Nice new Bran, speak a new engine. New paint paint, new seats, LA d lights and all nice new interior area.
Good Night, terrier.
That's the plan! =)
Another rUstoration. Keep it going
Thanks, will do!
I alway like seeing you tearing things down to the frame. Keeps me from wanting to do it 😂😂😂
Another good one, buddy!
HAHA! It's actually very rewarding in some ways. Having full access to all the bits saves time in the long run. Now time to order some brake parts! =)
@@CTmoogI got one question when are we gonna get an update on the swamp dragon???

Great! I believe the Swamp Dragon was another Ford truck but what happen to that Dodge truck?@@CTmoog
Good.job. cool Fram Ford Nice show 😄👍👍👍👏👏👏
Still waiting on the beetle. The truck is going to take you into summer.
Still waiting the karman ghia video mannn 🖐️👊
dang you been waiting a long time! =haha! =)
Did you get rid of the dragon, it's never been finished on the channel and it was the reason I started watching your channel
I still have the Swamp Dragon but it needs a lot of work. This red truck is basically the same design. Just a couple years older. Red Dragon?
Yeah you really need those special booths for sandblasting with all the ventilation and fans
I'm excited to see when this project will be pushed into the corner unfinished and he'll start a new project again. Let's Do it....😂
Do you know about Eastwood products? Check them out rust encapsulator especially, I have the fuel tank in the cab of my F-100 no issues..
Yes, they have some really nice stuff! =)
Also a while ago I seen a 72 Ford F350 i believe it was a flatbed on Facebook marketplace over north Carolina though but it look decent ish .
genuinely curious, do you keep the other projects or sell them? 🙂
both...I've sold some and I keep some. I still have the 1965 VW Beetle, 1967 VW Karmann Gia, 1976 Porsche 914, 1968 Ford F250, 1985 Ford Bronco, 1974 Ford F250 "Swamp Dragon" and maybe some others I forgot about...hahah! =)
Wow! You must have a impressive bit of land to store all those! I need more storage space myself :)
If it doesn’t have to be perfect then stop trying to make it perfect. Please finish…
That's the plan buddy! =)
You could easily and inexpensively make your own flatbed truck bed. There are numerous examples on the web.
Hey that's a good idea! I might try that.
You might want to consider cutting and sectioning the frame into a short bed then make a flatbed for it. Would be a sharp truck.
If he wants to actually use it like he said, long bed is way better and functional.
Definitely More Functional usually as a long bed truck
Looks good so far .that bumper not factory ..i would use the factory in cab tank.never had a issue with them ..i ve had good results using a marine industrial grade metal primer.
Replace the bolts for sure, weld patches on top, toss ina rubber mat.
sounds like a good plan!
You can always put a wood floor in the bottom of the truck bed
CT, try FINISHING SOMETHING. ANYTHING.
Seriously Bruh.
BUILT FORD TOUGH
Yes buddy! =)
If it was me i might upgrade the mudflaps and the rear bumper but I would leave mudflaps on the truck and have you checked your local Facebook marketplace location for a decent steel flatbed that you can make fit the truck?!
Yes, the mudflats will be upgraded at some pond. Yes, a flatbed would be cool. I've seen few on FB.
You know places like sweet patina, poppys patina, vice grip garage all sell wipe on clear coat.
If you completely disassemble the F250, then remove the rust from the frame, complete the cab and the loading area. Repaint the frame and the entire structure. Do a wood bed
that might work! =)
I saw on motor trend they use dry ice blasting
What happened to the swamp dragon?
it's in the swamp Mark..........waiting for it's big return! =)

Why not make a showroom car? You have by the way a good looking "boss". Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland
send me some money! =)
absolutely take the tank our of the cab. Put one in between the frame rails.

Yes, that wood be nice!
nut buster tool may have been faster on those bolt nuts ...
buy a laser manchine it work better then sandblaster
yes but they cost like $20k or more.....=0
rusty te bus how is that doing
