I totally agree. I do use captionator and it works well but it could be improved and removing closed captioning and words when you cut video isn't synched to the video from the text.
macwhisper is better than most things. apple will never use non-proprietory code (whisper), which all other NLEs do. apple will need to release own AI first... coming with OS 15
@@SLfilmBerlin not good enough for social media content, apple should be king in that department since they have the iphone. but they have nothing compared to capcut auto captions feature.
Protip, turn on video skimming and then Audio skimming, then turn off video skimming and the audio skimming remains on but greyed out. Then you can have a normal setup with frame by frame audio skimming. I really don't work in video skimming ever, but I really love being able to audio skim now frame by frame.
Thank you Matthew for running through 10.8.1. During your backup demonstration I noticed that you also have a LOGIC folder. Do you use Logic to master your FCP audio? If so, can you share your workflow? I've been struggling with Logic not respecting disabled multicam audio components in an fcpxml and bringing in everything, resulting in a massive number of tracks to sort through.
I actually just use Logic to record my boom mic's audio when I'm filming these videos at my desk. That's about all I use it for. It's pretty clunky from what I understand to try to master your audio in Logic and bring it back into FCP. Hopefully FCP 11 pairs up beautifully with Logic Pro 11 (which is already available) or integrates directly into FCP 11 in some special Apple way. We shall see...
Was feeling bold and livestreamed my first use of 10.8.1 this morning! Seemed fine (although I got to figure out OBS-it made FCP act like it was in quicksand, it was so laggy while OBS was open). Do you use OBS to stream? Ever had issues with FCP getting laggy while streaming/recording?
I use Ecamm Live with an M2 Pro Mac mini but I demo FCP using my M1 Pro MacBook Pro. Ecamm sees it as a camera input so I can keep everything running nice ‘n smooth 👌

The only issue I have is German Language Bug in the command set inside of Final Cut/Motion/Compressor/Logic in which the internal command set that you can edit to change what keys are used for short cuts, my Macbook Air M1, is US physical keyboard, but the command set inside of FCP is fixed to German, that is QWERTZ layout, not the US QWERTY layout, as a result short cut keys do not work..
After updating to 8.1, the program still crashes when transforming the image area with trigger points to enlarge and reduce the size of the video. Setting the lever for a soft transition constantly leads to a crash. My computer is an M2 Pro and should be sufficient to support FCPX.

I still have 10.6 don't know how to update. in App Store it just says open. but also 10.8.1... Nothing in the program itself as far as I can see.. but says 10.6.6.
Are you on an older machine? If you aren't able to update to current Mac OSX versions you will hit a roadblock and won't be able to get new versions of FCP

I still occasionally get SBBOD when I touch a clip in the browser or timeline. No other info with that different than it is sporadic.
Still can't option click on a clip with caps lock on though 🤦♀
