Well, that weekend worked out well Matthew!! The Doc looking good and giving a great show, and it wouldn't be the same without a bit of double track running. Dungeness always shows the locos in the best light, my favourite spot👍👍👍
Omg. Another amazing video! I love every single one of your RH&DRy videos and this one is no different! ❤❤ And Doctor Syn is back! How amazing!!! 🖤🖤 Thank you for capturing and sharing this! 🎉🎉
Another wonderful video of the RHDR! I was at the railway on 29/03/2023 to drive No.1 on a Silver Course experience and got a chance to see No.10 in the shed ahead of it's return into service! It's great to see it back on the line once more!
It made me nauseous jusy looking at it, although because of the camera angle it looks worse then it is. I'm going to see for myself in a few months, fingers crossed 😄
@westrailway1592 Once the main operating fleet of British outline locomotives had entered service on the RH&DR, it was quickly noted that there was very little in the way of weather protection for drivers. Subsequently, Captain Howey opted for No9 & No10 to follow a 'North American' outline, with the idea that the bigger cabs would provide more protection.
In ITV News, after no 10 returned, someone said "It's a Canadian Style Steam engine" while Canadians steam engines more likely have their headlight on the middle of the boiler.
Taking design cues from a particular aesthetic doesn't necessarily translate to direct copying of physical attributes, especially when scaled down to 15" gauge. For example, the smokebox would be more of a pain to access with a light mounted centrally on the front.
@thomasweekley9209 Both No9 & No10 used to have Vanderbuilt tenders. Unfortunately, both experienced rough riding and instability due to the higher centre of gravity. Both tender tanks were scrapped. Apparently the chassis' and bogies of both were retained, and mated with the current tender tanks.

Very well indeed, thanks! It was great to see the Doc back, and a first time catching Syn in steam on this channel.

Thanks very much, Chris. It's always nice to be out on the Romney Marsh.

christ the state of that track work gives me shivers
Never heard of that saying before but your right that looks pretty rough
Excellent video of the excellent RH&DR 👍
Thank you
Doctor Syn with a chime whistle, what more do you want? Magic
Super nice video Matthew :)
Thank you
11:18 why does it sound like LNER #4498 "Sir Nigel Gresley"?
Because it is a genuine Gresley A4 whistle.
Despite Dr. Syn being british, why does it look american?

The loudest Romney engine is back, we were enjoying it
Syn is my favourite RHDR loco
11:57 why does "R H D R" slowly appear on the tender?

Great work! Glad I didn’t get in your shots! Were you the fella in the excellent cafe racer leathers?
Thanks very much! I may have been...
Dr syn is the more to scale of all the other locomotives
Arlesdale Railway and Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway
Didn’t Dr Syn have a Vanderbilt style tender at one point in it’s life? If so what happened to it?

@@TheSouthernerYTChannel oh ok. Thanks
some of the track looks as if it needs straightening up a bit
