- William Cobb's classic Cyclone wooden coaster has undergone RMC's (Rocky Mountain Construction) Iron Horse conversion into this steel hybrid coaster, which is similar to Iron Rattler, New Texas Giant, Medusa Steel Coaster and Twisted Colossus.

They did that on purpose cuz it sounds like a storm. Actually the whole thing sounds like a crazy cat 5 hurricane.
I have a feeling that eventually RMC is going to produce a roller coaster with a vertical loop. It's only a matter of time, the park, and the coaster vision, but they will do a vertical looping coaster and it will be epic....

Man the orange paint comes off really easily compared to the New Texas Giant and Iron Rattler, same with Twisted Colossus and Medusa Steel Coaster. Is it something with the paint job, or the wheels?

Well it doesn't anymore so my guess was the ride's wheels just needed to be broken in

having no place to hold on to. I appreciate if someone
wants to put their hands up on a ride, but it's a poor design choice to force all riders to do so. Maybe there's a logic to it, but it's not obvious to me.

I think all of their coaster trains are like, honestly. I mean, Iron Rattler has that knob to hold on to haha, but yeah, a lot of their trains' restraints don't have an "oh shit!" handle lol.

To my perspective, this acts very similar to Maverick, I know people are gonna say that this has an over banked curve, but other than that it's very similar.

I have to admit, I shitted on this ride (ok...poor choice of words...sorry, I didn't think much of this ride) when I first saw the videos. But, it is a pretty fun ride! I wouldn't put it on "Gotta ride every time I go" status (that's pretty much reserved for Bizarro), but I'll definitely make plans for it every time.

This ride is mu favorite one in the world
better than bizarro? i rode it back in 2003 so i dont know if it has aged well but it still my fav all time coaster. Some people saying WC is better. that sets my expectations real high!

Any thoughts on the probability of this ride getting cloned some time in the future? It's only 109 feet tall and has a very compact layout which sort of puts it in the same category as a Mega Lite. The big difference being that a wood structure is far cheaper to build than a steel one making this a relatively affordable option for parks that need a 'big' coaster in its collection.
+Sir Real It is unique to six flags new england. This used to be a wooden coaster called the cyclone. It got the iron horse treatment. People don't just buy hybrids from rmc. You got to get wood or steel. Although it would be kind of cool.

I went on this ride twice and it's not even scary but yet I still hold on to the thing whatever it's called
Looks like a great ride but since it's a Cyclone, Need more theming like the TN Tornado. i.e. overturned stuff, trees snapped in half, stuff on the ground of path of destruction, etc.

It doesn't really matter, they both keep your body in the same way, one just has something over your shoulder.

They copied NY's Cyclone (Coney Island Cyclone Ride) And six flags is more dangerous, And it is a ripoff
I'm sorry, please don't insult me, but this is no where near the same layout as Cyclone at Coney Island.
Plus, how is it a ripoff when they were made by different manufactures, almost 90 years apart?

Now this must have cost Millon's of dollars. Way more than what was necessary to repair the old cyclone. But this is how lazy we've become as a society. We don't want to take the time to repair a simple problem and we just upgrade the whole thing and spend millions vs maybe only thousands to repair wood defects. RMC ruined this coaster big time!
And I'm pretty sure William Cobb wouldn't be too happy to find his classic Woodie ruined and turned into this ugly thing! Look at it! We know what Cyclone looks like and this is not at all what it looks like! It looks so ugly I almost can't stand to look at it! Eww!

Elementer Channel look I don't hate all RMC hybrids. this one just doesn't look right. Probably because its too compact. And basically the point I'm making is not every wooden rollercoaster that has a little problem needs to be converted to one of these hybrids. To be honest its quite expensive. It would cost less money to replace the worn out wood or rails where the coaster is rough instead of practically demolishing the whole thing and building a hybrid in its place. But I also realized even these hybrids are slightly rough.
Besides what it were you, imagine if you designed a wooden rollercoaster and it was a classic at the park and then without notice it got shut down for good and converted into an RMC hybrid. All your hard work ruined all because of "change" Willam Cobb's hard work was undone by RMC. That's what pisses me off. Its one thing to custom build an RMC but to ruin someone else's hard work on a classic Woodie? That's not Right
Taffyta Muttonfudge But that's how life works. Your contributions won't always be there. If you design a building, it has a chance of being demolished in the future to make way for something else. And RMC is not destroying all wooden coasters, the coasters that have already been converted were not popular before (low ridership), which comes back to your point about money. Isn't it better for parks to spend more money? That means they are putting more into parks, trying to appeal to more people. And with an old ride like this, they bring back popularity to this. So, the original designer would probably be happier than if the cyclone was just retracked and forgotten.
